- LONGEVITY | Wrestlings Longest Careers!
Often in wrestling, the run of a great star is relatively short in length. Of course, there can be a lot of reasons for this, such as in the case of Magnum TA and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin when injuries cut their time in the ring short, or in the case of Batista or The Rock, each of whom left the squared circle in order to move on to Hollywood. But what about the flipside to this? What about the performers who had the longest careers in wrestling history? Well, that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at today.

Great Video 📸 Wrestle With Andy
Bro the next yearly review
Dustin Rhodes doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his accomplishments and his longevity in the business.
He was better as Goldust ic champ hardcore champ and multiple tag title win
It still makes me laugh that Dustin is from Texas and Cody is from Atlanta.
I really wanted to hear Shattered Dreams hit at Wrestlemania and he come save his brother
@@josephbuono4392 I was hoping for that too
@@josephbuono4392 The signature taunt on Roman... ugh that would have been gold
Honorable mention: Vacant. Has won multiple championships and is still actively wrestling. lol
He beat Andre for the title and Rhea
Vacant has also put over many talents
And worked for every major promotion
😂😂
From Parts Unknown?
The most fascinating thing about Sting is, that he is fucking 65 years old by now! He did not only have a career span of nearly 40 years, some forget, that he started wrestling very late, aged 26. When WCW collapsed, he was already 42, and look what matches he had... He often doesn't get the credit he deserves, because he never had a big career in WWF.
That powerbomb on 80 year old Mae Young was absolutely insane. I can't imagine what kind of conversation happened that even allowed that to proceed.
Mae volunteered for most of it. Go listen to Bubba talk about her, he says she wanted all the smoke. 😆
@@jimstebbins8273The way he tells that story might be one of my favorites I’ve heard. Mae Young was a badass beyond measure.
She was a crazy old granny!! 😅She was the one who wanted to take that powerbomb
@@iamekidshe is so lucky that she didn't die
Dustin seemed like he'd fizzle out with the son of a legend gimmick, but the way he seized on Goldust and adapted to that style absolutely made him a legend.
Shame they buried that character tho
Jerry Lawler has been wrestling for 54 years. With a bad heart. What a legend. He literally IS Memphis wrestling. Countless USWA title runs to go along with that NWA Southern title. One of the best announcers ever. And one of the greatest wrestlers who portrayed both a heel and babyface ever.
Dustin Rhodes has been wrestling for almost 40 years and has never won a World Championship. He deserves to have one before he retires
Imagine He comes back to WWE to Face His Brother for the Title that their brother never won
@TheBandit025Nova, I've just said the same thing in my own comment, lol.
Tna would be the only major promotion to even think of pulling the trigger on that unfortunately
Same with Billy Gunn
Finish the story
George the animal Steele wrestled from 1967 to 2001. And made appearances for another 10 years
You beat me to it. No love for the animal
Great video, one minor error - Rey Mysterio won the 2006 Rumble not 2005
Ron Killings - K-Kwik - R-Truth.
AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels were both there when WCW fell and are still here today, still looking just as good as they did in their 2005 prime. Same with Joe (or rather, he was there when ROH opened its doors around the same time). A little less so, given the time off and the current bout of injuries, with Punk. All of those guys have had 20+ year careers
@@princealigorna7468 there's a few unsung heroes of wrestling but I think they just did the easier or more popular ones.
Bruno Sammartino did it for quite some time too, doesnt he still hold the feds record for longest world champ?
I think he has two of the longest runs. One lasted 7 years I think, and the other 3. Tells you how big Bruno was. New York wasn't willing to accept anyone else as champion really until Backlund. Koloff and Superstar were only transitional champs obviously, as most heel champs were back then. Pedro Morales had a longer run of around 3 years, but apparently even a Puerto Riccan champ can't draw as big in New York as an Italian.
@princealigorna7468 Morales was a garbage worker and didn't even have the look Bruno did. Bob also never really replaced Bruno - he just held the spot till they poached Hogan
I immediately thought Rey Mysterio. He is absolutely timeless. One of the GOAT's for sure. Anyone who wasn't watching in the 90's when he first came to WCW missed something special. My God, his matches with Guerrero and Malenko will hold up against any 5-star match you see today. I recently watched his A&E Biography, and it was absolutely phenomenal.
The THQ WCW N64 games were fun because of Mysterio.
You’re the reason I’m catching up to wrestling again! I appreciate the year in review videos. Will you be doing anything after 2010 year in review?
Love the variety of videos joe..taker was the first one I thought of too..😅😅..👍👌💙
The Fabulous Moolah us credited with holding the woman's championship for 28 years. She worked from 1940 to 2007.
What a career.
I got one for ya, Jushin Thunder Liger(1984-2020).
The Great Muta 😉
Abdullah the butcher - "Fresh Meat!"
Aj style also debuted in 1998. He should have been listed after Rey.
Randy Orton should be mentioned more in the GOAT conversation.
I am still waiting for the Jerry 'the King'. Lawler, story.
No kidding, dude has had a wild ride.
Wow,Triple H wasn't on this list! That's not cool!
Triple H kinda stopped after about 18 yrs (2011 when he went part time). Long time, but not as long as these guys listed
@@stixinmypocket51 But you can used the same argument for the Undertaker? The Deadmen became a part-timer around 2011 as well! Is it because Triple H is a corporate executive & Undertaker isn't, which would make fans see the situation differently?
Remember what Billy the Goat said? He wouldn't be in this position had he not been grinding on the boss' daughter 😂😂😂
Dustin Rhodes deserve to be in the Hall Of Fame
May Young was a Boss. So tough .
I hope Tony Knan Give the ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP to DUSTIN RHODES
Thank you! I really enjoyed this video! ❤
Ric Flair will ALWAYS be the man! Look at all the wrestlers he's wrestled, all the matches he's had, some or most going 60 minutes & all the great feuds he's had but it's time to call it a day & I also had the pleasure of working with Jerry "The King" Lawler
I remember Flair being the worst heel, and then along comes Terry Funk and turns Flair babyface.😂
Jericho with a goatee looks ridiculous 😂😂
No
Why is Orton here and not Moolah and Thesz, i get moolah maybe cuz of what she did and who she was, but thesz??
His first match was in 30s and last in 1990, he wrestled in 7 different decades
And also dory jr, he wrestled as long as his brother
AEw glazing is crazy Andy nil
Dustin/Goldust will go down in memory much longer than Dusty or Cody.
I know this video was recorded earlier but the timing is hilarious. The praise for for Jericho's longevity is posted 1 day after the pay per view where the crowd chanted "go home Jericho" and "please retire"
Mae was cute in the dinosaur days.
Flair the Goat
Sting just never did anything but stand there
Did you never watch Surfer Sting?
some of the dumbest things i have ever heard, even outside of pro wrestling XDD
Like Tony Schiavone in AEW said...It's Stinnnnnnnnnnng 2:02
I'm from the same small town as May Young and I'm sad to say that she is not the hometown legend she should be
Dustin Rhodes deserves to go back to WWE and have a match vs Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania and win the big one
Great video ive been watching for a few years and your knowledge is awesome
Appreciate the support man, enjoy the vid 👊🏻🤘🏻☝🏻
Age like wine and Jericho in the same sentence is like dividing by zero.
To this day the Goldust gimmick annoys me. Dustin was sooo much better than that poor character arc. He deserved more respect from management.
Rey Mysterio was like the Spider Man in the WWE without question 6:08
Glen Jacobs (Kane) seriously should of been mentioned here. He is such an underrated character
Dustin is the wrestling GOD
Dustin Rhodes is a workhorse, nothing but respect for that guy!
Abdullah is an Orlando native? Um, I've always heard he's from Windsor (Ontario, Canada).
Shawn Michael seems to deserve a mention. 1984-2010 and still makes a lot of appearances even if mostly not in the ring. Also the 1998-9 new WWF Tag Teams all deserve some mentions (mainly E&C, Hardys, and Dudleys) considering they mostly started a few years earlier and a lot of them are still doing stuff today or just retired recently.
Jerry Lawler , the midnight express , Dustin Runnels , Sting , Jake the snake Roberts , PCO , Tommy Dreamer , Haku , fit Finley , AJ Styles , Gregg the hammer Valentine , Dusty Rhodes , Rick flair , Bruno samartino , Carlos Colon , SGT Slaughter , hacksaw Jim Dugan , Terry Taylor , Bob backlund , Verne gagne , Terry funk , The undertaker , Mae Young , Fabolous moolah , Jerry brisco , Pat Paterson , Abdullah the butcher , Ricky the dragon steamboat , mil mascaras , jushin thunder liger , the great muta , RVD , Ole Anderson , Nick Bockwinkle , edge & christan , the Hardys , the Dudley boys , Tatanka , Jeff Jarrett , Kane , Scott Steiner , Baron von rashke , Harley race , Chris Jericho , the Giant , R Truth , Koko B Ware , Stone Cold Steve Austin , Rowdy Roddy Piper , Hogan ,
Just to name a few people that have at least 25 to 50 years as a active in ring professional wrestler
But Rey mysterio won the 2006 royal rumble. Batista won 2005
Why didn't ECW sign Abdullah The Butcher? He fits into the promotion like a hand in a glove.
While I get that you will be WWE and U.S.-centric...you should have researched guys like Tatsumi Fujinami, Atsushi Onita, Minoru Suzuki, Masakatsu Funaki and Yoshiaki Fujiwara...they have had longevity that WWE wrestlers can't touch.
Another commenter mentioned Thesz, I can't believe he wasn't mentioned.
Rey mysterio has top be top 5 greatest of all time he has classic matches from the 90s,2000s,2010s, and 2020s
A good longevity to me is like after the 20 mark but idk I respect everyone on this list
Lawler's had at least one match after August 2021. I did production on a match in March 2022 with him facing Doug Gilbert.
The argument could be made that Dustin was more famous than Dusty. During Dusty's time, the exposure wasn't as high as during the attitude Era. That being said, it's also possible that Dustin wasn't as "popular" as Dusty. Generally, I think Dustin's goldust was more well known then The American Dream.
Chris Jericho 🤍💀🤍. Randy Orton 🐍
Most of them of this video were underrated!!
Long live the Natural!!! 💫
I Love Your RUclips Channel As Your Biggest Fan Wrestle With Andy
First wrestler that came to mind was Undertaker 😂😂
Seriously? You forget Kane? Wtf
Dustin "Goldust" Rhodes, and Sting are arguably the best the business has ever seen.
love all of these.
Jerry Lawler
I remember watching with my dad when Ray won his first match on Georgia wrestling.
Some of the referees have had huge careers, too. Granted, they aren't taking powerbombs, but that's no desk job.
Not sorry for this.. but I think what would be poetic justice, and perhaps a true recognition of the Rhodes family legacy.. is to have Dustin return.. and win MITB so he cashes it in that very night on the person who has the WHC.
Rey Mysterio won the Royal Rumble in 2006 not 2005
Bob Orton Jr. Randy's father still active, over to 50 years career.
Slight correction to one mistake you made in the video. Rey Mysterio won the 2006 Royal rumble not the 2005 Royal Rumble.
I will always like Dustin Rhodes more than Cody Rhodes I feel. He's definitely the best wrestler they've ever had in their family.
you should do a list for the best of Japanese pro wrestlers
All Japan's Masa Fuchi debuted in 1974 and still works occasionally now, thats a 50 year career.
I think Dustin Rhodes is the only wrestler who was wrestling when I was watching that is still wrestling today.
Thought Kane/Isaac Yankem would be on the list
2005 Royal Rumble (from an alternate universe):
The winner of the 2005 Royal Rumble is Batis…I Mean Rey Mysterio
Paul White has had a long career given life expectancy for a man his size
There was a time where he was told he would end up like Andre if he didn't get surgery to correct his condition (acromegaly). He chose the surgery, and it added years to his life. Andre chose not to get it, fearing that doing so would take away from his character. Unfortunately, as we all know, the final years of Andre's life were extremely painful for him.
Exotic Adrian Street 1957-2014 = 57 years
Definitely going to have to run this back. Plenty missing that are stated in the comments.
Yo

@@WRESTLEWITHANDY👍
Missed a couple opportunities with Jericho… “top of the list” and “alumnus”
When you realized Randy Orton is the only member of Evolution still wrestling. 😢
Crazy.
Until Ric Flair comes out of retirement again.
Well he's the youngest
And he might be the only one still wrestling from the original group from OVW
How about Bobo Brazil 6 decades of wrestling
No mention of Jericho in NJPW?! Criminal. He had many great stays over there.
I like how you didn't mention Dory Funk jr. even though he started wrestling earlier than Terry and his last match was more recent. But he's less famous because he wasn't in ECW at it's peak. That's a shame really.
I think that Dustin Rhodes didn't get enough recognition, he's a workhorse
On the belt side he's not as accomplished as anyone else in this list, but man, to me he's like Sting or Undertaker, a living legend who gave everything for this business.
I used to love the list!
Undertaker always gets the credit for longevity, but Kane wrestled way more consistently for just as long. No mention of Kane is wild considering he wrestled the most WWE matches when he retired.
Yep totally agree kane must have been on this list
@@hidaktirak4367Kane wrestle 28 years
Dustin = HoF'er
I wonder if guys like Swerve Strickland & Darby Allin will have career’s like Sting, AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Taker
Darby won't just because he seems determined to kill himself in the ring. Then again I say that and look at the Hardys being around for 30 years and throw my hands in the air.
This list should've been longer
Dustin Rhodes should have been able to be at Wrestlemania in some capacity to witness his brother’s success.
He was
You have to add Steve Lombardi AKA. The Brooklyn Brawler. A jobber, yes, but he spent 33 years in the WWF/WWE making the top stars look good
15:27 hey, Mae Young wasn't bad back in the day.. crazy.
Mysterio won the 2006 Royal Rumble, not the 2005 one.
Yearly review please
If they can slap a World Title on Voldemort, then they can do it for Dustin. That man have not only earned it, but deserves it as well. And the SECOND he does retire, instantly put him into the HoF.
Who are you going on about
Bushwhacker Luke better be on here!
Kane and Bigshow should Have Been In The LIST
sting for 50 years, taker 30 years ❤️❤️
