Your tip of not engaging him close helped. Was focused too much on getting those huge burst shots with a blade but keeping distance and pummeling him with the standard ars and missiles helped a lot.
After following the tips I made it through only repairing once and leaving with an almost full AP bar Much better than the previous 6 attempts where I'd get him to heal and then die almost immediately after
Ludlows were how I usually got him, to say nothing of how dual wielding them lends itself to the Matrix style coolness factor. The trouble is what comes after this guy. Ludlows aren't going to cut it for that fight.
I used the Ludlow SMG on both hands and the FCS that has max close range assist. I killed him in my 4th attempt (1st attempt after watching your video). But I ended up with a red AP bar and 0 repairs. 😆 Thanks for the tip!
That depends on what you're comfortable with. The "easy mode" meta atm is, get the heaviest AC you can, tank treads and all, and two Automatics. Dakka him before he Dakkas you.

To me Sulla was more fun than anything facing enemy ACs one on one makes me feel like I’m a gundam pilot facing an enemy ace it’s cinematic as hell

Yeah, problem is, initially, you don't have access to such tools. This piece of shit almost made me pop a vein when the game came out.

True. At least you can re-assemble after a defeat, via the menu.
