I don't know which tickled me more the look on Laura's face trying to stop the silicone from oozing out or Aarons laughter?!? Regardless priceless🙃🥰🤣👏🏾👍🏾
Snuggled on my couch with my 3 kiddos watching GA in the morning is the best way to start my day. Love waking up to see what you’re up to. And thoroughly enjoyed seeing you take an already interesting light bulb and transforming it into a work of art. Thank you, Laura for pushing through and continuing with the project when things got tough. The terrarium turned out beautiful!
I read your comment and then read your name and loved it because of Anne of Green Gables; then it donned on me that we actually went to classes together (i think) out at Ivy Tech so many years ago. My mind doesn't always serve me correctly so forgive me if I'm wrong about the time and place but I do actually believe it was school where I remember your name first and last. Love that you love Garden Answer too!! Hope you're well.
@@jkrudop5700 I did attend classes at Ivy Tech in Fort Wayne from 2012-2015. And now work part time as an RN. And Garden Answer has inspired me to start a cut flower garden/small flower farm.

I saw the electricians at our school throwing away a huge streetlight bulb. It was so amazing, but I couldn’t think of a reason why I needed it. I wish I could have seen this 5 years ago. So incredible! Thanks for sharing your creativity.
Normally these aren't my favorite type of videos, but once Laura started putting the terrarium together I was completely engaged. It was like watching Mr. Miyagi and MacGyver working on this incredible project. Good job Laura!
Incredible, this project! Brings joy to my 82 year old former gardener's heart, just watching your videos while having my morning coffee. But this morning the coffee just sat. I was holding my breath as you so carefully planted that lightbulb. What a gorgeous little terrarium! Thank you for sharing.
My daughter called today to tell me that, on this cold, snowy morning, she is snuggled in watching one of your videos. We both laughed when I told her how happy I was that she was FINALLY becoming a "mini me"...lol Thanks for helping with that.
My daughter also became a fan which then turned her into a covid gardener which I know helped her with her mental health during quarantine. Warmed my heart every time she would discuss gardenanswer videos with me 🪴💕🌵
Laura, you can use a straw to water this... you know the old immerse straw, finger tip over end, put straw into bulb & remove finger... loved this idea - you're so creative...
I was thinking a straw, too! But I might try to attach it to the end of the syringe so that it has more capacity yet still control. I’m sure Laura will think of something that’s clever!
I love your morning commute to work! And what a fun lovely project. Can you show us some before and after pictures as you are decluttering? It might inspire this all to do the same on these cold winter days.
Good morning Garden Answer friends. Laura your resourcefulness never ceases to amaze me. Taking an unusual sized, gigantic burned out bulb. & creating into a succulent & cacti garden..is fantastic. This reminds me kinda of a note in a bottle take off..I love it!
Good Morning ☀️ I thought on watering. You can still use a syringe, add a section of air line tubing to the tip of the syringe. Try the air line you would use for air stones in fish aquariums.
Funny how one project leads to another. Your commitment to clean out one drawer or cabinet a day has lead to this project that began some time ago. My kids tell me I have too many projects that I have began or started collecting items. Last year I put 3 ft + flower beds around my house. This spring or sooner I intend to recreate your pallet walkway. You are an inspiration to me and so many people.
This is so cool! And that stone base? 🔥🔥🔥 I’ve been doing a lot of caulking lately, installing crown moulding in my house and filling all the gaps and seams with caulking. (It’s a wonderful invention!) But the silicone that won’t stop oozing out is #relatablecontent. You might already know this, but if you release the little switch at the bottom of the caulking gun, it takes the pressure off and saves you the moment of holding your finger over the hole and saying to your partner, “it won’t stop, what do I dooo?!?” But I only know that cuz I’ve been there. Thanks for your videos. You guys are the best.
What a great idea , patience & talent to put such a lovely display together! I have never heard of a 400 watt light bulb! Just for fun I looked on Amazon and found the exact bulb! It is $126.47! You have a real treasure there Laura!LOL! ☺️
I’m so glad you checked about the safety of what’s inside of the bulb. I know some of those big bulbs have mercury vapor. It’s definitely a unique project!!!
My Dad used to plant terrariums in huge glass jugs with the small necks using special tools! I was fascinated watching Dad work on his terrariums! Love the idea of using a light bulb! Your terrarium turned out cute - love it!! 🥰💚🌵🌿
Beautiful arrangement as always, Laura. I agree with other community members: it was great to see you persevere through this. Now you have such a unique piece that will look perfect with your other home decor. Regarding not being able to control the silicone squeezing out of the gun, you have to release the back of the caulking gun to take the pressure off the tube. There’s a flat metal piece below the thin metal bar. I take the meaty part of the palm of my hand and bang it against that flat piece of metal (in the direction towards the tube opening) to release it. As I write this I’m realizing how difficult it is to explain, so hopefully this makes sense.
Your local fish store should carry long skinny pipetts that would work seamlessly for watering for around $2. They are great for spot feeding coral. Adorable project! My husband asked me yesterday if we are going to need to get a greenhouse because he can that “things” are escalating 😹🪴🌵
Laura, I love how your mind works! What an incredible arrangement! This is just so cute. Now I'm going around looking through my stuff and going to look at the stores for anything glass that I can do this with! Love how you inspire us. On watering, could you use a straw? You can put your finger over the end to keep it in the straw until it’s inside the glass.

Sooo interesting... I've never seen a terrarium created before. Certainly an ingenious way to repurpose this unique light bulb! What a very talented lady you are, Laura!
Laura, this lightbulb terrarium turned out so cute! I made a lightbulb terrarium multiple decades ago, but mine wasn't a work of art like yours is. I can't wait to see the projects you'll come up with, when you discover more 'squirreled away' items during your cleaning and organizing quest. I've discovered random items that I can't remember ever owning, or saving, during my ongoing decluttering process, lol.
Not only did you see the potential in this very unique and cool lightbulb as a vessel, but it’s history at the garden center makes it all the more fun!
Too finicky of a project for me personally, BUT I always feel inspired to look at objects differently after watching your creative projects come together. Thank you for all you do!

Oh my gosh! We just replaced 2 of our halogen lightbulbs in the barn with LED lights this week! Now I’ve got to try this! Add in that school was cancelled today because of ice (which I can’t remember ever happening before, and thanks to the warm snap and rain the last couple of days here in northern utah), and it’s going to be a perfect day for a fun project! I even have a bunch of succulents that need some TLC! THANK YOU for the idea!!
Me...aww, nuts..it broke! (Sweep everything into the garbage). Laura, ...makes a beautiful terrarium. I have a long way to go! Lol. Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your creativity. It looks awesome!
This is the kind of project a lot of us talk ourselves out of doing. But, you persevered and were rewarded for your efforts... and your patience! As far as watering goes, you might be able to draw up some water in a straw, hold your finger over one end, and then carefully direct the other end to dribble water right where you want it. You'll probably need one of those extra long straws, but it might be easier than a turkey baster. A turkey baster might be narrow enough to go into the bulb, but not enough afford the movement you'll need to navigate once inside the bulb. ~ Lisa ::edited for clarity::
I love it! I think that’s such a creative project. Perfect for small places and people who don't have much time to take care of house plants. Well done Laura!!!
OMGosh, this is just too cool, even tho I'm not a succulent girl, I may have to do this. My granddaughter recently started getting interested in them, I see a gram granddaughter project in my future. You are just so creative, succulents in a light bulb of all things, Hydrangea flower butterflies, looking forward to what's next. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, usually snowy here on the shore in Maryland.
I could see this sitting in some old English library and someone sitting down next to it wondering how the heck those plants got in that lightbulb. 😅 I love your imagination and style Laura, very classic but unique beauty. You inspire me on a daily basis.
Pretty amazing that you thought of this, and it's so cute. The layers of color really add to the overall look and the stone base is so interesting and secure. I kept thinking that an electric supply store would love to have this on their counter. Great job Laura--keep cleaning and thinking...
This is one cool terrarium! I was thinking that a long pipette would be the perfect waterer for it as you would have great control over the amount and placement of the water. I hope that's helpful. I'm certainly going to be keeping my eyes open for an old bulb like this. So creative Laura.
Beautiful as always, Laura! In terms of the caulking gun...you have to click the little push rod...to release the pressure and stop the caulk from oozing :) then you can put a cap or tape on the end of the tube and save for a while. Glad I'm not the only one whose done that lol Thanks for another great video GA
It turned out so cute! I’m glad you found this little jewel you’ve had tucked away for safe keeping. It would probably work to add a straw or small piece of tubing to the syringe to water.
What a great idea for a terrarium. I was thinking maybe a straw to water it with. You just amaze me with the projects you come up with Ms Laura and Mr. Aaron. What a way to go. Have a warm blessed day in all that snow.
Good morning!! What a fun little project. I am cleaning out as well but I haven’t found anything as cool as your light bulb. Love starting my day with you after devotional and prayer time!!
Got a good giggle watching you fight the unruly silicone gun. Happens to us all! 😁 the arrangement looks beautiful, thanks for all you and your family do!
Amazing, Laura. So beautiful! Lab forceps (long tweezers) would help you greatly with projects like this. For watering try using a pipette. You can really control the amount of water and they are long enough to get to the plants. Both are available on Amazon at a reasonable price. Minor investment; major benefits.
Sooo made me think this technique must run a very close parallel to how ships in a bottle are constructed...Super cool! Loving all you share from North Idaho zone 6a 💚 🌲 🌿
Laura, you are a wonder! I can't imagine the patience to make something like this. I can see myself getting frustrated placing the first plant or two because they wouldn't sit just right, but it is BEAUTIFUL! And so unique! Could you attach a straw or something to the end of your syringe for watering?
Laura, I use an Economy Wash Bottle to water most of my succulents and also it is great for reaching potted plants that are tucked into places or behind other plants so you don't have to move anything to get to them or damage leaves trying to get a watering can to them. Seriously love this thing and it is easy, no constant refilling a syringe just squeeze and aim for the base of the plant you want to water. I use it for my seedling trays too.
That is so cool! You have incredible patience to nurture that many succulents and then to attend to the detail of miniature arrangements. Even for those who are not into succulents, you just inspired a lot of people to get creative with lightbulbs - even to make arrangements with dried flowers and moss or make Christmas decorations. Thank you for this inspiration.
Laura, you keep amaze me!! The way your mind works, your talent, your creativity - it blows my mind. Not to mention your king and sweet soul 🙏🏽❤️ I would have taken that light bulb home to, but just as a antic show off on the mantle course it’s a beautiful piece but would never have thought of it as a terrarium! Your mind works in mysterious ways 😍😘🤩😊
Love your imagination & willingness to any project you tackle. Your tenacity is our gift. Each day your videos bring you calm & a smile to our faces. While you & Aaron may have millions of subscribers & viewers, you make each video feel as if your speaking to each us individually. Thank you! 😊 ❤
I would recommend a pair of reptile feeding or aquarium scaping tweezer for delicate and finicky projects like this! Very specific but when they come in handy they really come in handy!
Little tip: I use laboratory wash bottles to watering arrangements like this , also you can use those bottles to fill floral water tubes. Sold by Amazon🌹
WOW! Laura this is so darn cute. I love the light bulb idea. Watching you BrIdgton, maine on another snowy day.I can't wait to try this! Thank you f o r making my day
Oh my the incredible patience it took to do this. I so enjoyed watching this while having coffee and watching my favorite u tube videos. Very satisfying and calm way to start my day.
I'm intrigued by the idea that you "have done this with regular sized light bulbs". what a cute idea! Would love to see that as well. Hopefully this demo will emulate that process.
Fantastic! I don't know if I'd have the patience to do something like this but I so enjoy watching you put this together. I have a few air plants that I want to make into a wall hanging hmmmm.
This project is amazing! After watching this video, I went back and watched your previous terrarium project videos using hydrastones. I had put together a number of terrariums a few years ago, but over time the plants all died. I was really frustrated and stopped doing terrariums all together! Now, I’m excited to try using the hydrastones! Making terrariums is a great winter project to keep the blues away. This is my first public comment, but I have been watching you for years, and so many of your projects have inspired me and helped me to become a better gardener! Thank you, Laura. 🌸
I got a small christmas cactus cutting from our local botanic garden and I watched your video on the different types of cactus and how to take care of them. I couldn't find any cactus soil, but I had some miracle grow on hand. I needed to move it to a bigger pot from the the tiny plastic one it came in. I can't believe how it took off as soon as I repotted it. It almost doubled in size. I am finding so much inspiration in all your videos. I made several square wreaths using birch branches and cuttings from fir trees. I gave two away as Christmas gifts. I love the terrarium and the wall hangings you made with the hydrangea blossoms.
Maybe adding a piece of aquarium airline tubing to the syringe would make it easier to water. Great video always wanted to repurpose items into terrariums.
It turned out so pretty. I’d like to try planting some of these cute tiny plants. Thanks for showing the process and materials. I have some planters that I got when my daughter was born back in 1971, a pink shoe, a pink baby carriage and I’ve collected some others. She was visiting and wanted me to get rid of them, but I’m sentimental about some things. These would be cute to put in them, now that I know the process.
So cute!! These bulbs are old street lamp bulbs and I’ve seen them a lot in antique booths and such - always wondered how to use them creatively and now I know! 😉
I would like to see you create some dried flower arrangements. There are many kinds you could do. Maybe a winter theme with some faux snow, for example. Thank you. I watch your channel every day. It makes me happy!

Twisting the long grooved extension rod on the back end of the caulk gun releases the ratchet pressure & stops the caulk flow.
Is there anything you can't do? ♡ This has to be the sweetest arrangement ever! ♡
This is a beautiful arrangement. Stay warm!
Look at this little light bulb! I think I'll put a dozen plants in it! Gotta love it!
That's a project to test ones patience!
Splendid job!!!!
WOW! Laura this is so darn cute. I love the light bulb idea. Watching you BrIdgton, maine on another snowy day.I can't wait to try this! Thank you f o r making my day
I would
Love to see you start a conifer garden! How lovely all that snow would be in a conifer garden
Nicccce!!
Laura, this is absolutely gorgeous! You are so talented and have a steady “surgeon” hand.
So much cooler than building a ship in a bottle, awesome project!
What a fun project I've seen those bulbs out of old warehouse lighting. I'm inspired to build out my glass terrinum. 🌼
That was definitely a light bulb moment! I love it.
Such a fun project! Good on you for sticking it out and seeing it through. It looks incredible!
Wow Laura, I have been impressed by you before, but now you are simply amazing in my eyes!
Too cute! ❤ a suggestion for watering, a long pipette may work if you can find one on Amazon. I use the shorter ones to direct water small cuttings.
Maybe adding a piece of aquarium airline tubing to the syringe would make it easier to water. Great video always wanted to repurpose items into terrariums.
This is so cool!!! I love the combination of plants and light bulb! Your creativity amazes me! Greetings from Michigan! 😊
If you fill a long straw and hold your fingertip over the end, that might work for watering. I love how this turned out!
I would like to see you create some dried flower arrangements. There are many kinds you could do. Maybe a winter theme with some faux snow, for example. Thank you. I watch your channel every day. It makes me happy!
