I love how this dress form turned out! The swirl of succulents along with the placement of the birch, is a work of art! I was lucky enough to find a similar dress form that someone was throwing out last summer, and I planted it up in pattern using Hot Pink Lantana, White Knight Lobularia, Silver Falls Dichondra, Coleus and Sweet Potato Vine. I love how it turned out and can't wait to plant it again this year! Your ideas are always so inspiring!
@@StormWarningMom I drenched with a hose from the top of the neck down to where all spots where the plants had been inserted. I accidentally let it dry out a couple times...luckily it came back but I am sure the plants suffered. I want to try to figure out drip this year.
This is simply outstanding. I am so inspired, I have a lot of metal frames outside that I have never thought of planting with something. This gets me so motivated to do something with scraps that would otherwise just rust and go to the landfill. Certainly a dress any gardener would buy. :)

@@joydaniel597 when we lived in NJ near Philly, there were a couple that sold bushel basket size mums in the fall. It was spectacular! Now in Michigan there are a couple left, most went out of business because the land was valuable and the work was hard. Sad

At the beginning of the video you mentioned that you hoped this project would be inspirational...well girl - HOLY COW. I remember thinking during the antiquing video that "sure she could plant up a metal dress form...yay ok!" then BAM....I am INSPIRED and completely IMPRESSED! You are definitely a creative artist who's medium is plants, god gave you the right gift. BEAUTIFUL Laura! just beautiful.
WOW, so beautiful! I did that to my old “my double” dress form but I did it the hard way. Zip tied sheets of heavy duty burlap to the inside, stuffed it with potting soil, weighed a ton. I used Ivy for the skirt and succulents for the bodice with the hope that the ivy would cascade down and look like a skirt, but no……….the ivy is taking over the form and killing the succulents. However you’ve inspired me to “dress it up” this spring and rework the form. You are such an inspiration to me, you’ve no idea. I’m 74 and hopefully can garden for many more years. Thanks for all you do and sharing your knowledge and your family with all of us.

When you and your mom were on that shopping trip, I was curious as to how you were going to “plant” it! Well now I know! It turned out absolutely perfect! It’s beautiful, my dress historian heart is madly in love. I would have bought that form and dusted it in my crafting room using it for display only. But you have brought it new life, and that is a wonderful thing. I’m in Florida and I never would have thought of filling it with moss and succulents and placing it as statuary in my garden. But I might be on a hunt for something like that now. 🥰

As a retired couture dress designer I was eager to see what you would do with this project, combining two of my passions, design and plants. You did a fantastic job!! What a fun project! I'm sure many of us were inspired, as always, to find other ways to apply what we learned from this video!
I loved the process you went through in figuring out how to do this. A makers thinking out loud process as they are creating is fascinating. Thanks for the extra tips too… I am floored that you can use hot glue on plants.

Oh man this is so fun!! Im a conference director and we did something similar with dress forms and moss a few years ago for decor. I love adding the succulents. So beautiful. I love all you practical and creative insight. Loving your channel.

It’s beautiful, my dress historian heart is madly in love. I would have bought that form and dusted it in my crafting room using it for display only. But you have brought it new life, and that is a wonderful thing. I’m in Florida and I never would have thought of filling it with moss and succulents and placing it as statuary in my garden. But I might be on a hunt for something like that now. 🥰

I've been waiting for this, I love it!! I have been keeping my eye open for a good form to use to do something for myself. I have been building up my succulent stash for 2yrs now so I can get a large planter/form of sorts established.
