Do you mind explaining further at what point you should contract your core. Is it at the beginning of your exhale? Also wanted to ask: I feel tense and uncomfortable once I am in tripod position, is this normal?
UndergroundGym i mostly role cause it has the strange effect of totally relaxing my jaw and neck muscles. didnt even know it was also good for the core.
this is not fundamentally a core exercise. this is a multifunctional exercise that teaches many many things. the plank is a very simplistic exercise that works well for one thing. nothing wrong with this, but systema training is always working multiple things. and honestly, when I was taught this, it had nothing about contracting the core, nothing about creating a strong base of anything, it was all about the movement and relaxation and breathing. there are many ways to do thi.
Good explanation about inhaling and exhaling. Deflate to compress/contract your body and inflate to inflate/extend your body movement. Thanks.
That is very educational! Thank you very much

this is a very good and fun core excercise but if one merely wants to train the core and nothing else why not just do the plank for 5 minutes?

it depends what your goals are
