i just put it under the hood as it sits down, and add another design to show when the hood is up so theres not so much of a blank space. i try to fill it up so it looks nice with the hood up or down
Hello, great tutorial...I absolutely how you explained the difference of positioning r/t someone who wears the hoodie on their head most of the time vs someone who may not. Loved this.. Thank you,
Thank you!! I've made a few hoodies by request but am always looking to my trusty YT community for guidance. I noticed one thing I haven't seen before...rolling the hood up before pressing. I'll be sharing this tip and mention you always! If you haven't mentioned it in your videos, you definitely should!
Exactly, rolling the hood up just Makes sense, but I didn’t think of it. This is why I come to RUclips. This will be my first hoodie and this is the most comprehensive video.
Thanks for that man. Learned something every time I watch. What are the best vinyl for business and can you tell me some good brand for blanks for business.
I appreciate this video alot. i know you do screen printing versus sewing(atleast what i gathered from this video) however would tou have any advice for someone trying to take a colorful design thats in another white t-shirt, cut it off the tshirt and permanently adhere it to the back of a plain black hoodie? im feel as though i need a interfacing for in-between each fabric as the design is on a thinner soft feel cotton fabric compared to the average glidan hoodie lol
Thanks for the presentation it was very useful. Quick question does the square/ rectangle (depending on which way you apply the heat) around imgage from heat press come out?
Yes it’s just because the material has a hot at the moment but within a few minutes as it cools should disappear just don’t over press or burn your logo
New subscriber and new to the htv design game. Great video, very helpful info. I have a question about letter/font sizeing, how is it determined and are there any "rule of thumb" standard to go by for determining font/ letter size like there are for general design placement locations? What size font/letter height did you use on hoodie in this video? Thanx in advance for any advice!
The world is your canvas when it comes to lettering and font size. It all depends on what your designing and how you want it to appear on the garment. There's no exact size for font/letter size. Your style and creation is what makes your designs unique!
So i used this method and the buyer just put her sweatshirt on and there was plenty of space for me to place the wording up higher and still see it even with hood down. Just want to give everyone a nice heads up to maybe use a mannequin if you have one first bc its not what it seems like.
Remember different hoodie brands fit different. The size of a hood on a gildan may not be the same as on a Bella canvas or independent hoodie. So you have to measure accordingly.. Thanks for commenting and watching!
When you show how far down the back the hood goes I think it's misleading because when someone is actually wearing the hoodie it doesn't reach down nearly that far. It has to lay over their shoulders and neck. I've seen this mistake made by several different printers in my area and they end up putting the graphic way too low. The best way to see where the hood will sit is to put on the hoodie and mark it. Alternatively, if you don't want to put it on, you can get a decent idea of how it will lay by spreading the hood out wide before folding it down the back at the neckline. I find this still hangs a bit lower than if someone was actually wearing it but it's a pretty close approximation.
As stated in the video, not everyone likes their logo covered when the hood is down which putting it on the shoulders does or losing most of the design. That works for those who wear their hoods up more than less. If they hardly wear it up and they still want to see most of the design then a slightly lower placement works
I’m doing a women’s cropped hoodie and she wants a skeleton hand shooting the middle finger. Is there a general size for vinyl, based off the size of the garment? She doesn’t mind if it’s partially covered as long as looks good. So I’m thinking how you did this one in the video, how it’s centered closer to shoulder blades?

I use my hands as my ruler as well😆 glad to see I'm not alone. Thank you for the helpful tips!

Can you add a video on placement for the front of the hoodie. Using htv distance down from the neck line?
Absolutely! Subscribe and stay tuned
Thanks Mr. T-Shirt! Great vid!
Hi there! Thanks for sharing! What size is the design and what size do you recommend for a 2X Hoodie?
This design was 11”w x 8.5” h. On 2x depending on logo you can go to 11.5”w x maybe 9 or 10” h
Thank you so much!

You definitely want to put a backing if sewing onto a t-shirt vs a hoodie!

Thank you! I just ordered one! I’m glad I saw your video, I almost went with something else.

Thats optional, I would start with 11" wide and go from their based on the size of the garnment.
I think a logo far as a brand should be higher on the shoulders in the middle.
All depends on the customer and how they like to wear their hoodies.
Your video would be half as long if you took the word ‘GUYS’ out of it. 😝
Lmao!!! I know and Honestly I hate being on camera but I get excited to bring you guys new helpful content!!
