I think that they don't even beat the rug down first to get all the loose dirt off. Why you can see dust and dirt flying off the rug when it is unrolled
If they have animals and guests all the time it's bound to happen. My grandmother's house had a carpet we thought was black but turned out to be snow white. She had dogs and a few cats and so many ppl would live un her house rent free, not clean the carpet and move out. Plus they didn't have deep cleaning back then. She would only sweep the carpet or vacuum it which made it worse.
I like the soothing cleaning of the rugs, they're just caked in the same coloured mud every time. Mix it up a bit. Leave some in a farm yard or pig pen, that'll make for more interesting stains. 😂

I'd assume that they check to see if the water is clear or not. If you wash it and the water is brown, it's probably dirty.
