  • No hacking this time. This video shows how easy it is to assemble the IKEA Leirvik bed, which is the prettiest bed IKEA makes, in my humble opinion.
    You can use a box spring if you want a high bed, or use the Luröy slatted base to directly support the mattress. That's what I used under my Leesa foam mattress.

    Have it, squeaky!! If anyone gets this bed, pad the joints with a roll of plaster, works a treat, use the roll of fabric plaster though not the kiddy plasters.

    This is an attractive bed and the price is appealing. The two most common complaints about this bed are that it is incredibly squeaky and the legs tend to bend/snap off from the frame.

    This is a nice bed but give it a few months before the squeaking starts. Very nice looking bed from a look perspective but it got to the point with us that if we coughed in bed, it would squeak loudly. We had to opt for a new bed (Hemnes) after a year & the head/foot boards are now decoration in our garden.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  6 лет назад +4

      There are plastic clips to keep them stretched out and in place. As long as you get the right size slats and install them correctly, they shouldn’t move at all. Something is wrong.

  • @mrgrind210

    Hi All , here is an update . i bought 2 of these squeeky POS. My bed legs are wobbling all over the place now. Recently for a short while they removed the bed from sale, and now its back. They have changed the way the frame is screwed together ( more like the old tromsnes beds). Check the website, first picture clearly shows where the new screws go. Other pics are of the old bed and the online isntructions are still the old ones.
    Time to get your reciepts out for a refund /change. I was just informed by customer service however that is its more than 12 month its going to be a problem. We'll see. This problem has been all over the internet for ages. Good luck.

      Further update. Ikea quality representative says I've got wrong way round and the one with the wobbly legs is the latest. I'm not sure I believe them,but if it's true then the current bed is rubbish and I will be getting rid of both asap. My previous (not the renowned) ikea bed also broke. They are now 3 for 4. I'm buying elsewhere from now on.

    Is the slatted base included with the bed. If not does that mean I don't need it if I already have a boxspring?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  7 лет назад +2

      +MeteoricMarlin I'm not 100% sure so please check with IKEA, but I THINK you can use a boxspring in place of the slatted base, but you still need the center rail. But please check with them.

      I'm in the same situation. I read a comment that said that IKEA has now fixed the problem. so if you buy a new one it won't squeek but I live in Australia so I don't know if it's fixed here and I might buy one-second hand as that's cheaper but then a second-hand one is probably the older model so still squeaky.

      I've read if you pay for delivery, which reviews show is problematic bc what you paid for reportedly often doesn't get delivered, the slats are included I the price. But if you buy + pick up in the store, you pay separately for the wooden slats.

    No not just ""tedious", it is a bloody nightmare to put it back together after it it has been one time taken apart! I hate it! It is impossible to rebuild! The worst thing is trying to get the key on the short side to tighten it sll up without the whole thing falling apart. Don't buy this bed if you ever think in your lifetime that you might move and take it with you
    If it weren't metal, I'd set it on fire.
