Alexis used to be one of my favorite characters. I especially loved it when they remembered she was a Casidine. Sometimes she seems to get lost in the shuffle of stories even though she has tied to so many other characters.
Alexis father is Mikkos Cassadine, which was Helena's husband. Alexis (Natasha) mother was an Opera singer and was killed by Helena who slit her throat. (later giving Alexis that very knife she used to kill her mother)
They made it sound like Anna has always been directly involved with the Cassadines thing, which to many of us feels weird because we know she hasn't, but I suppose an explanation could be that being associated with the WSB, and also being Police Commissioner, Anna would have access to and be familiar with all the major Port Charles villains & criminals, including the Cassadines, through dossiers, case files, and whatnot. The WSB has been familiar with the Cassadines since Mikkos, Victor and the weather machine in 1981, so Anna would know all of that as well.
Alexis is at her best when involved in Casadine storylines and "co-parenting" with Sonny.
