    Many a weekend night, long ago, we use to have friends over to play board games, and listen to what is now considered Classic Rock - and we would all start singing along with Ann Wilson and Heart !

    As a teenager in Seattle in the late 60's (graduated in '70) I feel I witnessed the best of classic rock history... all the great rock and blues bands/people I got to see in concert (remember the beautiful Eagles Auditorium??) ... including the Beatles when I was 12. For me, out of all female rockers Ann's voice is the most beautiful and powerful voice I've ever heard, with Grace Slick (White Rabbit) and Stevie Nicks right behind. I wore out my Dreamboat Annie album... thanks Ann for all the wonderful years of great music, then and now.... those wonderful memories of those days being such an important part of my life! 💚

    Loved this podcast! Such a rich history for the both of you. Rock music is such an awesome thing and the two of you became immersed in it----------------------------and you're still doing it! That, in itself, commands a decent amount of respect.
    I actually played a miniscule role in all of this. I worked as a DJ at a small market hard rock/heavy metal radio station in Southern California during the early-to-mid-to late 80s. Both John Cougar and Heart were heavily in the rotation.
    Anyhow, I just thought I'd let you know that you're a lucky man for getting the chance to sit down and talk with Ann.
    From start to finish, you kept me engaged.

    Finally had my opportunity to see Heart with Joan Jett a few years ago in Cleveland, Ohio, and it was a dream come true ❤ As a teen in the nineties, you were one of my most treasured and inspiring rock goddesses! One of those when Dad would yell upstairs, 'Pick another record!!', after too many plays, but you're so good. I remember this now with my own daughter now, Haha. Another vocal capable of drawing chills, with an undeniable vocal tone, that I feel is so unfortunately so under known, underrated, is the incomparable Melanie. I'm curious as contemporaries and multigenerational musicians, driven women, creating in the male-dominated world of rock- did your paths ever cross, if not: now recommending a collab for the ages??? Thank you for rocking when girls like me needed heroes. Sending all love and every ounce of admiration ❤✌

I can't imagine the things you've seen and how you made an imprint on sound we know well and prolifically! Carol Kaye, we're not worthy, right? Guitar is gonna move you and the vocalist can do anything with their instrument. But hips don't get anywhere without that space between the beat and the ride you take getting to the next one, punctuated by the rhythm section! It's everything. I will check out more of the podcast, but Ann stopped me in my tracks- I don't know how any one can play it cool with Ann Wilson, asking my first incipient question I believe I'd lose all rational thought just crumble to dust! We have got to find time to listen to albums again and start finding ways to reward (pay) artists and technicians to make beautiful things that require us to give ourselves up for an hour and give us a sound track to dream to. Perhaps we need to grow up and be kids in the 70s again to find a sustainable way forward with a touch more thoughtful play to make our world fully experiential and less material.

    70's is also when Bands & Music , like NY Dolls , Pistols , Ramones Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers &&& , start to REBEL ,, to bring back... the 50s & 60s , 3 minute style song, without 3 minute guitar & keyboard solos .

    Interesting story when you guys were opening up for Heart when they were going through that transition from 70's rockers to their 80's rebirth. My first concert was in 1982 at the San Diego Stadium - The Who, Loverboy and Cougar. The rockers in the crowd did NOT like you guys LOL but you powered out a 30 minute set as Hurts/Jack were creeping up the charts. I think even Roger Daltrey made some diss remark about 'little Johnny Cougar'. As a young drummer I was like, how is that guy playing his HH with his left hand? Keep rocking brother!

      @KennyAronoffOfficial  7 месяцев назад +2

      oh wow.. that is amazing.. I remember that concert perfectly.. I was so excited to be opening up for The Who.. John Cougar didn't want to play that concert because he knew no one wanted to see him.. They wanted to see The Who.. BUT we had 2 songs in the top 10 "Jack and Diane" and "Hurt So Good" , so management made us play.. And I played and recorded Hurt So Good with a left hand lead on my hi hat. : ) g

      @@KennyAronoffOfficial Nice! I remember the people in the stands cheering when Cougar he said he heard that 'Hurts so good' was a popular song in San Diego. But the people in General Admission who wanted to see The Who up close were not having it LOL. I was only 13 and literally thought I was going to die getting crushed in that crowd!

      @@KennyAronoffOfficial Also, small world story is Heart's old guitar player Roger Fisher (and Ann Wilson's old beau) lived here in San Diego for awhile. His (former) wife is Czech and they would bring their son to a super small informal Czech language class once a week my wife (who's also Czech) taught. Unfortunately my wife didn't tell me until after they moved because she didn't know who he was! He wrote many of Heart's biggest 70's hits!
