Hmmm 🤔, as an Herbalist and Nutritionist I agree with many of your diagnoses of problems with our food system... but as a Doctor I'm very grateful for the freedom to choose my vocation and life purpose. Some women are happy to raise children and make a lovely home, others are happy to help people recover from illness and live their healthiest lives. Both are necessary and valuable.

Do a video detailing making a switch for the everyday person from white flour to healthier home milled grains. What that looks like in terms of choices of grains, how to use them, what to expect in differences in the way they behave and results you should expect in comparison to store bought white flour, equipment needed, sources.... all the things! People are very overwhelmed when they first start learning, and i think an in-depth video like that would be very helpful.

As someone who has bucked the feminist trend since the '80s, I think their most devastating lie is that homemaking and motherhood are demeaning. I never could understand why I should just hand my children over to someone else to raise. I have had it all: family, home, very successful career, just not all at once. I've been milling my own flour for a couple of years now, and it's been a wonderful journey.

I know two very good friends who suffered from infertility for years and when they cut out gluten they were able to get pregnant. I don’t doubt one bit that modern white flour is causing a mass amount of health issues. We switched over to einkorn and kamut years ago and love it. Sure, our baked goods are dense but that’s ok because it’s what we are used to.

This is fascinating. My biggest struggle with home making is loneliness. How do I entertain a two-year-old all day? “Nuclear families” are a modern and lonely concept. We are meant to have our parents and siblings and aunts and uncles and cousins and community, but unfortunately modern jobs don’t always allow that. My husband has a specialized career that led us across the country, and it’s hard.

I recently bought a Mockmill 100 to grind flour at home. Sourdough bread has become very easy and routine in my schedule. I thought if I was making sourdough, I should use real whole grain flour. I have been slowly experimenting with converting recipes to fresh milled flour. So far, so good. I am finding that I am learning to work with hard red, hard white, and soft white and using different amounts to change the texture . I have never sifted the flour because I want all the nutrients and fiber. Thank you for your videos. I enjoy the content and find them very relaxing. We have to look out for our own health these days!

I purchased the same mill that you have and I love it! I also have a sifter for when I want to make that special birthday cake or holiday cookie, but I mostly just use the whole grain (unsifted) for most things I bake for my family. I thought it would take a long time f9r everyone to get used to the new texture and taste, but it was an almost instant, resounding, "This is so good, mom"! "I like it BETTER than store bought bread, 100%"! Also, I've noticed that we can actually eat bread every day, and we do, without feeling bloated or gaining ANY weight! That said, great video! I'm praying that our lives can get back to how God intended! I'm praying that we can return to a society where women can once again feel fulfilled and complete staying home and raising our babies! I think we're heading in the right direction! Thank you for being an inspiration! God bless you and your family! ❤

I love sourdough but every time I try to feed my starter with freshly milled flour, it suffers DRAMATICALLY. Could you do a video detailing the life of your starter? Did you make yours or where did you get yours? What type of flour was it started on and for roughly how long? When and how did you make the switch to freshly ground? I’d also love a recipe for freshly ground sourdough bread that’s not overly soured or a brick. 😅 Thanks for what you do! 💜

I think it's so true that one of the most radical things we can do as women in this day and age is to get married, have all the babies, cook from scratch and care for the well-being of your family primarily.

This is well done! Another thing that is amazing for fertility is liver, and organ meats. If you can’t hide them in your ground meat, the option I use is drying and encapsulating them. The benefit we see is pretty amazing. We raise our own animals and save the organs back for this. But you can find it from your local butchers and do the same. We used to use a dehydrator with good results, but for the past two years I have been freeze drying it. I first freeze for a couple weeks then go on with the drying process.

My grandparents had a ranch in ND and grew winter wheat as well. One of my cousins farms it now and I was horrified to learn from him that the “iron” in enrichment is typically iron filings(!) and that even organic grains in the U.S. will still get doused with glyphosate after the grain is brought to the silo station.
Remember, this is all by design to decrease our numbers.

I so enjoy your content. I really appreciated your information on this video about grains and the back history and the conspiracy behind it (I believe it’s agenda to depopulate the masses and weaken us and profit from us until they are done with us aka 20/30 agenda) I believe that God has speaking to me about this subject this week because it is the 3rd video I have seen come up in my feed (2 ladies I never seen before and yours all were different but so interesting) I think I have a affinity to this subject because my GGGG parents had a mill and think there is a deep connection still linked to this…I would enjoy your discussion on child mid wife subject, I believe it is a very important topic for young women to know different options to the traditional hospital and obstetrician path, my daughter in law had both our beautiful grandbabies at home and allowing the placenta to fully pump out and give every bit of its precious nutrients to our grandbabies! They are very advanced kiddos and I believe this is the reason plus no 💉 to hinder their development! You have blessed my life and I am going to pass on this video to my children and friends! I was raised on a home mostly made bread. My mom however used white flower, and I am super healthy and have six children of my own. Everything that crunchy mama's worn against, I've had: I was an epidural and C-section baby, nothing organic growing up, my mom heavily seven dusted her squashes, and yet here I am miraculously, healthy sane and whole.
It's all good to make efforts to eat right, but I believe all glory goes to God. He took care of us when we had no idea what we were putting into our bodies.

Out of all the homemaking videos creators, you are the BEST. I have been believing this since I was a young woman. All I wanted to do was to be a wife and mother. It was very bad for women in the 1980s. I was treated as a lazy woman. That said, when my son was in high school. I picked him up from school and he turned to me and thanked me for raising him. Thank you for your lovely video. I just wanted to add my personal perspective that feminism is about thr freedom to mske your own choices as a woman. But tha doens mean necessarily being an employee, or far from your children, or not having children. For me feminism is a a positive term, its about standing up for what you beloeve is right, and the rights of girls to education, to be able to leave their home unaccompanied, go where they like, meet friends, not be forced into marriage. Its about standing up to mysogeny, which is still common. Its about solidarity with other women less fortnate tha ourselves, be they in our own community, ir far away. Its about creating a world in which the women of the future will be better respected by their male colleagues, neighbours, employers, and husbands. Its about respecting the bond between a mother and her child. I myself have four children and didn't work at all outside the home for ten years, I never considered myself somehow not a feminist. Many of the leaders of the world today are power hungry, mysogenist men, who are part of a culture of belittling women. Many husbands of today fail to respect their wives and the choices they make. For me femnisim is about changing that. I want my sons to be helpful and fair to the women in their lives. As women, we are all sisters. A very happy thanksgiving to you. ❤

I switch back and forth between milling my own and just making my own bread with store bought unbleached flour. I one hundred percent agree with the health benefits though just got 5 kids 5 and under at the moment. So lots of fertility and not a lot of time haha. Hopefully I will be able to switch over though when the kids are a little older. Sourdough works really well with the whole grains because the fermentation breaks down some of the anitnutrients in the grain.

I got a kitchen aid mill attachment for my birthday this year accompanied by a 5lb bag of hard white wheat! I just finished my second loaf tonight, but it doesn’t seem to behave anything like I’m used to with my regular bread. I really want to make this switch for the health of my family, but I’m a bit on the struggle bus. There are so many things out there right now from so many different sources that I’m a lot overwhelmed and overloaded. Steph, can you please break it down for me? I’ve read so much my head is swimming, but it feels like I’ve never baked before. It’s very weird!

I couldn't agree more. We need balance. If a woman can and wants to be the hearth in her home, it should also be seen as the most important job that it is. Especially when caring for a special needs person beyond childhood. The looks I get are both noble.... and incriminating... as if it's " wrong" or " harmful" ....sometimes I really don't think we as women/society went as "far up" in the world as we think. It's very disheartening.

I was talking with some friends once and one of them was saying how much Christmas baking they were doing. I mentioned I had ground up some flour so I could bake and she was insisting that there was no way she could do the amount of baking she does if she had to grind all her own wheat. 😂 I'm not sure what kind of a set up she thought I had, 2 huge stones on top of each other that I had to grind by hand? 😂😂😂 Really grinding quite a lot of wheat doesn't take long.

You had me until the end. The point of REAL feminism is giving women the option to choose the life they want. Some women are not meant to stay home and care for children. That's okay, go into the world and find your passion. Some women feel the home is where they are most fulfilled. Awesome! Do that and put your whole heart into it! Feminism is the choice, and neither choice should ever be looked down upon.

💯 yes - I was disappointed when I heard her say this. There is a huge misconception about what feminism really is. I’m a feminist and I’m a SAHM and I love this type of content - and I have lots of degrees. I just make a choice to stay (or should I say slay 😂) at home and keep the home managed and cozy. It’s simply a choice.

This was definitely an insightful watch on your take of the milling industry. I appreciate your insight; though, I don't think feminism was the wrong "prescription". That take seemed like a bit of a stretch to me; although, I can agree with you on the assumption that I think the rich help societal progression when it benefits their industrialization. I know you're aware of women's suffrage, but we have to really be aware that history-just like science, is filled with confounding variables. Not all women were built for a homesteader's life, especially with rapid industrialization and an unfair distribution of responsibilities growing over time. I have the firm and feminist belief that both sexes can greatly benefit from learning essential and self-preserving life skills such as homesteading, housekeeping hygiene, and cooking.

    • @juliathefast
      @juliathefast 2 месяца назад

Besides, I think people may have been excited for change that 'saves time'. With the women's suffrage movement, there were many who were uncomfortable to voice their opinions and misguided by what the movement meant. There was propaganda spreading of how women's suffrage was promoting living a scandalous and immodest lifestyle-which is a stereotype that still hurts the movement today. I'm also afraid that this stereotype has been fully embraced (especially by how popular media portrays feminism) and is hurting the movement more. Then again, this is all my opinion anyway.

I love your videos. We recently sold our home and are now traveling full time in a 5th wheel, homeschooling our kids and working remotely with our own business.. all this to say..any suggestions on how to store all things needed to not only mill our own grains but also cooking from complete scratch with such little storage space?

We lived in our RV full time for 3 years. I will say, it was easier once we landed on our property and I had a storage room. But, while traveling, I just had to get creative. We ripped out our table and built a countertop. I used totes under the countertop to store food. My kitchen gear went on the counter. When we traveled, my gear went on the floor, in the sink, etc.
We just used the couch to do school. Now that we are in a large home with big dinning table, we still use the couch to do school work. Lol
I don’t know if this was helpful for you, but it’s what worked for us.

@@kyleekuhl2981 yes! We had climate control under our RV and that’s where I stored our root veggies in 5 gallon buckets! Our fridge was tiny and we used 2 yeti ice chests as extended fridges. But, one was always assigned to raw milk. And the other one was random things. So with 6 people needing food, I used the underbelly as well! I never stores grain down there, because I already had a place inside. But it would work just fine as long as it was air tight!
