  • Welcome back to another clay video! Today we will create another Zelda themed clay creation. This time it will be The Ocarina Of Time! This ocarina I crafted is functional, meaning that it can actually be played! It was a huge learning process with a lot of trial and error, but it turned out to be pretty awesome. If you want to see more Zelda stuff, let me know in the comments what you want to see. There is also a playlist of my Zelda stuff here: • Legend Of Zelda

    That's so cool! I love that you put the effort into making it a functioning ocarina! So many artists neglect the idea of function when it comes to making things

    Excellent job!! A few years ago I had this brilliant idea, and thought for sure I was going to make my own ocarinas to sell! Lol you are far more determined than I was! I remember fighting with the wind area and inevitably just giving up. I knew if I was already having so much trouble getting the air to flow properly, I would never get the notes right! I think you did a great job! I do wonder of you're getting your clay baked at the right temperature and or for long enough... it looks like it's not properly cured with the way it chipped and broke when you were cutting it. Especially if you're using fimo, that shouldn't happen. I was so worried when you started drilling it, that it was going to break and so relived when it didn't!!

    • @Kerobyxclay
      @Kerobyxclay  2 года назад +1

      I couldn't see myself making another one, that was quite a lot of work! With the blue part crumbling, that was because i baked it shorter so I could cut through it easier.

    Wonderful work, Kerobyx. These videos are always a real pleasure to watch! I really enjoy being able to hear about the process as you go through each step. Your final projects always look so professional, but it's admirable how your techniques are often homespun and borne of creative thought (or what materials are available).
    It was also _really_ cool to see the ocarina become increasingly playable as the video progressed. And wow, only 2 cents off of a perfect C5 - that's really impressive! 😮
    It's great how you make use of leftover materials from past projects, and it's refreshing to see, in a world where many things are seen as disposable. Keep up the stellar work! (also, side note: your cat is adorable! 😺)

    • @Kerobyxclay

      Thank you very much! I find that no matter how much I plan things out, they never go as planned. So I've moved to just figuring it out as I go. Honestly, it's more fun this way!
      The first note was really the only one that got in tune haha, but at least it was right on!
      Thanks! I have another cat as well :).

    Voice hole too wide for the size of the instrument, methinks. That's why it sounds to airy. Otherwise, commendable work. It is inspiring for me and for anyone in the city who doesn't own a kiln or a yard to dig a fire pit.

    • @Aacck

      I know you commented this FOREVER ago, but I just have got to say, the ocarina is not only a tribal instrument. "The ocarina" is dozens if not hundreds of types of instruments labeled under the same name because archeologists decided not to make the distinction between them. That's why "ocarinas" orginated in South America, China, Northern Europe, etc thousands of years ago. And to my point, they're also EVERYWHERE made by ANYONE. They aren't something that can be gatekept. And, in reality the name ocarina was invented for an Italian instrument with similar construction but entirely and an entirely different purpose and use within music.
      So how is a method of making one artificial? Like, he made it? It's not a pinch pot method like South American ocarinas but he's not making a South American one? He's just making a fippled vessel flute. He knows too that he's not being super serious about it. He's making a craft and there's nothing disrespectful about that.
