That in turn leads to constant cheat days which isn’t really beneficial. Instead people should eat what is both good and taste good for them so that they can stay consistent and enjoy their meal.

his are pretty alright for the average person for pre I would use either a homebrew (coffee with other stims mixed in), athlean rx1, 2%5150, or transparent labs bulk pre for protien athlean rx2 or transparent whey isolate mixed with my own portion of creatine (preffered). I don't do a post protien recover.
Hey Jeff, I'm 48 years old, I've had a hip replacement, and a toe removed. I couldn't walk well, for over 10 years, ballooning up to 390 lbs, after my hip replacement, I decided to get back in shape, first I changed my diet, the intermittent fasting 16:8 split, dropped over 100 lbs, with no training, in a relatively short period of time. So, I've now been back in the gym 5 days a week, no weekends, for 4 weeks, I've gone from 1500 cals a day, to 1800/2000, now that I'm training. I've gained 11 lbs, but lost around 10% body fat. Sometimes I worry that I'm not getting enough calories, but I'm eating clean and I feel like I'm on the right track, and will get it dialed in, I still have a long way to go. I find ur videos inspiring and informative, thank u for the hard work. Peace!

You'll get used to the taste of slow cooked (steel cut) oats. I put nothing on them and it's just fine. Put a teaspoon of french vanilla coffee flavoring to spice it up. throw some walnuts on top

Love it man. Goes to show you can enjoy what you eat and still stay lean as long as you stay active. My maintenance intake was 4200 calories @ 91kgs, 12% BF, olympic weightlifting daily and working. After various injuries, surgeries, and no exercise. I lost 13kgs, ate half the amount. Now I sit at 80kgs, in rehab eating around 2500 calories a day and probably 19% BF at 51yrs old. Such is life...
He doesn't even eat that healthy! I assumed he was eating all organic and the best quality foods. And then I see he is eating those bottled egg Whites and canned foods and maple syrup!!! And he doesn't even do cardio and he is still that ripped!!!!?? That is clearly genes. Bc I eat much more clean and still can't get even close to that ripped!
jokes aside, a pinch is actually this. The tiny pinches of salt with two or three fingers isn't what is done in the kitchen because, well it contributes nothing.
I see a lot of comments saying that he eats like a 15 year old, or that there's no way he can maintain that body with this diet. But keep in mind A) his breakfast is pretty healthy, no heavily oily foods, lots of protein and fiber, and some carbs B) the chicken wrap he eats is very different than most you've had. It contains chicken and a ton of vegetables - no rice, no other junk. It's a healthy balance C) same goes for his dinner. You may eat pasta and chicken as well, but look at his ratio. The ratio is what's critical here, not just the ingredients. It's almost twice the chicken than pasta, and again a large serving of vegetables D) the froyo scoop didn't look too big, and his dinner is pretty light on simple sugars. If you're having a heavy carby dinner, then of course you can't follow up with froyo every day E) he adds a lot of good nutrition by using pumpkin, sweet potato instead of potato, etc F) he varies it everyday. This is so critical. It means that it's more enjoyable, but also that he has much better nutrition by getting it from different sources, slightly varying the ratios every day, etc If you need to maintain that amount of lean muscle mass, you need to eat a lot more. But don't start eating this amount right away - keep adjusting as you gain muscle and eat how much you need to. Lastly, what he's eating isn't meant for fat loss, since he doesn't need to worry about that. If you're aiming for fat loss and don't have as active a life as him, of course, you can't eat this much. Understand your life and what you need to eat to achieve your goals.
You do however need some fats (with every meal, preferably) in your diet. Obvously, a good kind of fat. Either cook with it, if it has a high smoking point or just add it to the previously cooked meal when you serve it. Complete avoidance of fats will mess with your hormones. It's using fats in unstable conditions or commercial usage of fats that can be problematic.
Jeff your meals look so tasty and enjoyable. You're the first RUclipsr who showed me eating healthy doesn't need to be a miserable experience. This gave me so much hope!
@dejuren No he doesn't eat a lot of sugar. There are people in their 50s who consume 100 times more and they still live. Sugar isn't gonna kill you or cause health issues in Jeff's quantities.
@dejuren You will get fat quickly by eating too many calories. Everyone is different so everyone needs a different calorie intake. If you are fat you need to be in a calory deficit or if you are skinny trying to put on weight you need to be in a calory surplus. It depends on your height, weigh, gender and age.
This is what I like about & why I subscribed to his channel - He is honest & natural, consider the day to challenges one would face while getting on certain diet, like taste, quantity, substitutes etc. Can be assured that you are getting genuine helpful advice

Jeff makes some great points at the beginning of the video. There's a lot of fanaticism around the diets for athletes, despite the fact that there's actually no bulletproof universal solution. I've been told numerous times that I couldn't work out and put on muscles on a vegan diet, but here I am, achieving my goals without any problem. :)
You know, I like that he basically admits throughout the entire video that he has a sweet tooth because it makes him seem real. All of the guys I know who are most shredded would never even admit that they like the taste of sugar.
@@sundarpichai940 agree. He is the living proof that you can eat great tasting food that is good for you. And I mean, this is his diet for his 6-8% of fat. For us that are ok with a 9-14%, depending on our goals, this allows us to be even more flexible and have more "delights" integrated in the diet.

This was awesome. Out of all the "this is what I eat during a day" videos from super healthy people, this was the most realistic one yet. I love how he puts sugar in things to make it taste better and is honest about it.
Or sugar. Artificial sweeteners. That’s a big difference caloric wise. And most people shouldn’t eat this much because they are not active enough. I’d say you could eat all the same things though just reduce the portion by a third and you are golden.

Except all of that takes less than 10mins total. Literally pull out everything, mix it up and microwave it while either cleaning stuff or washing yourself etc. Actually tried his oatmeal and it was legit good, no cream as I don't like it, took maybe 5mins first time to make it "properly" with watching what he put in. Eggs took longer than just pouring into a bowl cuz I didn't had them in bottled package. Not to mention if you consider this a lot of work for a meal, I don't wanna know your diet...
Gabriel Balta He more than likely perfected how many calories he needs to reach a hypercoloric state. I presume he pads his diet with additional protein just in case he undershoots his calorie intake for a season in order to prevent substantial muscle loss. IIRC, he isn't very tall either so without going into detail it seems viable to me. I'm 6'1 and I main track -- if I ate 2.9K Calories daily I'd personally blow up like a house, but I also gain muscle rapidly.

Chad Kimberley Partially true. He also exercises for a living. He is doing cardiovascular and endurance workouts every single day. That burns so much, that when you eat like this, it wouldn’t make you put fat on so easily. His genetics play a part, but don’t think that it’s the only thing keeping his physique intact.

God he said don’t follow him what he eats but to give you an idea. He said don’t use sugar at all if you don’t like it. It’s just something that works for him.
This is Jeff's maintenance diet, you need a fat-loss diet first where you are in a caloric-deficit. Once you get to a point that you are happy with then you can go on a maintenance diet like Jeff.

I did the same thing, avoiding eating fat like the plague and living on chicken breast and rice, the typical body builder diet at the time described in almost every workout magazine. After years of eating like this I ended up becoming epileptic. It was really scary. Adding a huge chunk of healthy fats to my diet has let me recover and I have not had a seizure in over 3 years. Thanks for this video. I’ll definitely look at modifying my diet accordingly.
Sorry to hear that, but I do have a question. Before the epilepsy, did that chicken and rice bodybuilder diet actually help you lose weight and get to having a good body?
I don’t think chicken breast and rice would cause epilepsy. Though nutritional deficiencies can cause seizures but that isn’t epilepsy that is a non epileptic seizure you have to be diagnosed with epilepsy
My favorite foods are grapefruits (but watch out if you're taking meds), Bismarck Herring (and everything that lives in the water in general), vegetables of all sorts (Soup or fried in the pan or baked in the oven or a fresh salad) and for some real sweets some Italian white nougat and Amaretto Disaronno or Sambuca Molinari

My maintenance intake was 4200 calories @ 91kgs, 12% BF, olympic weightlifting daily and working.
After various injuries, surgeries, and no exercise. I lost 13kgs, ate half the amount. Now I sit at 80kgs, in rehab eating around 2500 calories a day and probably 19% BF at 51yrs old. Such is life...

I see a lot of comments saying that he eats like a 15 year old, or that there's no way he can maintain that body with this diet. But keep in mind
A) his breakfast is pretty healthy, no heavily oily foods, lots of protein and fiber, and some carbs
B) the chicken wrap he eats is very different than most you've had. It contains chicken and a ton of vegetables - no rice, no other junk. It's a healthy balance
C) same goes for his dinner. You may eat pasta and chicken as well, but look at his ratio. The ratio is what's critical here, not just the ingredients. It's almost twice the chicken than pasta, and again a large serving of vegetables
D) the froyo scoop didn't look too big, and his dinner is pretty light on simple sugars. If you're having a heavy carby dinner, then of course you can't follow up with froyo every day
E) he adds a lot of good nutrition by using pumpkin, sweet potato instead of potato, etc
F) he varies it everyday. This is so critical. It means that it's more enjoyable, but also that he has much better nutrition by getting it from different sources, slightly varying the ratios every day, etc
If you need to maintain that amount of lean muscle mass, you need to eat a lot more. But don't start eating this amount right away - keep adjusting as you gain muscle and eat how much you need to.
Lastly, what he's eating isn't meant for fat loss, since he doesn't need to worry about that. If you're aiming for fat loss and don't have as active a life as him, of course, you can't eat this much. Understand your life and what you need to eat to achieve your goals.

You do however need some fats (with every meal, preferably) in your diet. Obvously, a good kind of fat. Either cook with it, if it has a high smoking point or just add it to the previously cooked meal when you serve it. Complete avoidance of fats will mess with your hormones. It's using fats in unstable conditions or commercial usage of fats that can be problematic.
Jeff your meals look so tasty and enjoyable. You're the first RUclipsr who showed me eating healthy doesn't need to be a miserable experience. This gave me so much hope!
@dejuren No he doesn't eat a lot of sugar. There are people in their 50s who consume 100 times more and they still live. Sugar isn't gonna kill you or cause health issues in Jeff's quantities.
@dejuren You will get fat quickly by eating too many calories. Everyone is different so everyone needs a different calorie intake. If you are fat you need to be in a calory deficit or if you are skinny trying to put on weight you need to be in a calory surplus. It depends on your height, weigh, gender and age.

Jeff makes some great points at the beginning of the video. There's a lot of fanaticism around the diets for athletes, despite the fact that there's actually no bulletproof universal solution. I've been told numerous times that I couldn't work out and put on muscles on a vegan diet, but here I am, achieving my goals without any problem. :)

Except all of that takes less than 10mins total. Literally pull out everything, mix it up and microwave it while either cleaning stuff or washing yourself etc. Actually tried his oatmeal and it was legit good, no cream as I don't like it, took maybe 5mins first time to make it "properly" with watching what he put in. Eggs took longer than just pouring into a bowl cuz I didn't had them in bottled package. Not to mention if you consider this a lot of work for a meal, I don't wanna know your diet...

I presume he pads his diet with additional protein just in case he undershoots his calorie intake for a season in order to prevent substantial muscle loss.
IIRC, he isn't very tall either so without going into detail it seems viable to me.
I'm 6'1 and I main track -- if I ate 2.9K Calories daily I'd personally blow up like a house, but I also gain muscle rapidly.

I've followed this meal plan for the past year, and I've continued to gain weight! Breakfast was the key to my weight gain.
This is Jeff's maintenance diet, you need a fat-loss diet first where you are in a caloric-deficit. Once you get to a point that you are happy with then you can go on a maintenance diet like Jeff.

I did the same thing, avoiding eating fat like the plague and living on chicken breast and rice, the typical body builder diet at the time described in almost every workout magazine. After years of eating like this I ended up becoming epileptic. It was really scary. Adding a huge chunk of healthy fats to my diet has let me recover and I have not had a seizure in over 3 years.
Thanks for this video. I’ll definitely look at modifying my diet accordingly.

I don’t think chicken breast and rice would cause epilepsy. Though nutritional deficiencies can cause seizures but that isn’t epilepsy that is a non epileptic seizure you have to be diagnosed with epilepsy
