  • Trying to get out of our daughter's driveway so we can head west to Quartzsite, AZ. BUT we have NO TRUCK! We are two days delayed. Weather is moving in quickly and we have to start our Road Trip.
We are not Snow Birds but we do like nice warm weather and heading west is the best. We are going to do this trip a little differently by staying at a campground midway on the road trip for several days to get caught up from the holidays.
Planning our route, I find a Whataburger next door to a Walmart. So convenient! Oh...Sondra finds stickers and a route 66 road map for her journal.

    RV Camping
We like to "Switch it Up" between resorts and campgrounds and boondocking is always an option.
We draw inspiration from Keep Your Daydream KYD, Less Junk More Journey, Finding Our Someday and Changing Lanes. We normally travel in an HDT similar to RUclips channels Suite Travels and Watts on Wheels. I also get some ideas from the editing style of Happily Ever Hanks (Happilyeverhanks) #thankshanks and believe it or not, I actually learned something from MRBeast Mr Beast video's as well.
Our journey is the destination. We want to share in our experiences in our discovery of What's Next.
    I get my music from:
    Epidemicsound.com
    Tracks:
Is This Winter Now by Shirley
Amazon Shop (no extra charge to you)
A convenient way to see (or buy) the items you see in the video's which may help in your adventure.
    www.amazon.com/shop/bigtruckb...
We use the TSD card for diesel fuel and save a bundle each time we fill up our Big Rig. We also use it to fill up our Onan generator.
The big blue boards (XL version) we use sometimes to get us "un-stuck" is from:
    Gotreads.com
Our Class C is built by Thor Motorcoach on a Ford F550 chassis. It's a production build Magnitude model XG32. We tow our red Jeep Wrangler Sahara behind it. We've made some modifications to it so that we can boondock comfortably. Lithium batteries, Victron 3000w multi-plus inverter, dual alternators charge while traveling and mods to the water system greatly enhance it's boondocking capabilities.
Our extreme completely custom 5th wheel is built on a semi-trailer chassis with air suspension and air brakes. Completely loaded it weighs 42,000 lbs rolling down the highway. And we do roll down the highway nearly every week. You see, we believe that if your home has wheels they should be used.
    Vehicles:
    2016 Volvo VNL780 "Voyager"
    2016 Smart fortwo "Pathfinder"
2019 SpaceCraft Custom built semi-trailer 5th wheel "Orion"
    2023 Thor Magnitude XG32 Class C "Curiosity"
    2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Artemis"
    Power system:
3250 watts of solar with Panasonic panels
    30.1 KWH of Lithium batteries
2- 4K watt Magnum Inverters deliver power as if we are on shore power
2- 4K watt 240v Cotek Inverters deliver additional power for our LG Mini split HVAC and stove
Coachnet is our roadside assistance company we use but hopefully we don't use them too often. LOL
We are not sponsored by Whataburger but I do enjoy them anytime I can get my hands on one. They used to be just out of Texas but they have expanded.
BIg Truck Big Travels video's are based on our personal experience and not meant nor portrayed as experts in anything we do or say. It's our life on the road and our opinions are not meant to be construed as advice. Enjoy life on the road.

I’m glad that you all made it thru the storms, round 1 and hope that round 2 didn’t hit you too hard either. The two of you are always entertaining and a joy to watch. I love Thursday afternoons because of that. Continued safe travels. Thanks for taking the time to document your travels/adventures. Until next week …

Darling Grandbabies, but at that age wear you OUT! We’d get ours put to bed, and we went to bed at 8:30 so we could do another day.
The joy now is having them in college and laughing and having fun together! But when they are under 5, God save me. And we were older too! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I saw something really neat that uguys might think about. When u unhook your airline take a dummy one and hook it up and that keeps critters from getting in and plugging up your airlines. Put the dummy ones on both sides of the system. So going down the road and u see sign that says 12.6 do u let the air out of your seat? Lol

    • @bigtruckbigtravels

We don't show it but that's what I do when disconnected. I have a holder on the trailer now too. So we're trying to keep out dust and critters.

Oh dear Sandra don’t let those “grandpa” jokes wear off on u 😅 Must say u guys r a great team backing in and giving directions. My hubby/I have zero communication just hand signals. 4k for service on the Volvo seems reasonable to me. What I hear that service on the big trucks can get expensive.

    • @bigtruckbigtravels
      @bigtruckbigtravels  5 месяцев назад +2

Thanks, Greg. Just broken in at 150K...we think with the modifications we've made that probably a few items got "out of spec" and thus the need for us to "clean it up" since it wasn't clear from whom it may have been created. The truck has been great for 8 years so no complaints. Big check to write at one time...gulp!

New subscriber, and I find you do a nice job of editing on your video's. I very much like the banter within the cab, letting us all know what's going on and such, and I've now heard a couple times your 'Alaska Adventure' of which I've not seen yet, so I'll have to look for that when time allows! We've been up to Inuvik once along the Dempster highway, but that was in our old Chevy pickup, with nothing more than a 'camperette' on the back, with a bed and 2' X 2' counter to work on, back when we where in our twenties, and had much more energy than today. Caught a lot of fish on some of those streams along the Dempster too, and then spent some remaining weeks making memories in touring Alaska! Have done one trip since, and as always, look forward to another trip up that way some day!

The RVStop you mentioned at the truck stop is really nice. We stayed there 4 nights. They have 36 sites all FHU concrete sites. Not sure how long you are but our 41’ Motorhome and Jeep Cherokee fits on the concrete pad with about 3-4’ to spare on the pull through sites. I worked for CP Rail in a couple of different rail yards in the Vancouver area. The most important thing when a train is in the "yard" is that they must know exactly where every single rail car is located. My job was to walk up and down the different rail lines in the yard and write down the name and number of every car and which line it's on. I'd do 2 different lines at the same time. On average, I think I probably walked at least 5 or 6 miles every single day. Most of the time I loved it because I was outside in the fresh air, seeing the sights and getting paid to do it. That was around the time that the very first "Sony Walkman" came out, so I was well prepared for my work. Of course, Vancouver and winter means drizzle and lots of it, i'd have to go out with a plastic poncho on while being careful not to get the page I was writing on totally soaked. It was pretty miserable. Oh, I forgot to mention all this was done on graveyard shift. Good times.

Did I see the trailer jacks up when you did the pull test. I used to retract them so they were about a couple inches off the ground, that way if it came loose on the pull test the trailer doesn’t drop on the truck.

    • @bigtruckbigtravels
      @bigtruckbigtravels  6 месяцев назад

Good observation, Barry. They were retracted but the pads were still on the ground. Our hitch is fairly deep and wide so if it did come loose then our nose would ride on the end of the 5th wheel plate. It's a good idea to leave the jacks down a little instead of fully retracted. I may change this in the future. Thanks

That is awesome that your daughter has a home with a large enough driveway where you can park - that works out great! Question: you were speaking about the maintenance/repairs - got me thinking about roadside service for breakdowns.
