It will be profitable for you if you expand this story. Perhaps Zack Snyder is a good choice to work on a prequel or something related to the story. Since Snyder has support from Netflix, I think you can do amazing projects if you combine your art and creativity.

I added Code 8 Part II to my list on Netflix but I’ve never even seen the 1st one, so I was about to watch the 1st one but before I did that, I searched it up on Wikipedia…only to find out they made a short film a few years before. I just finished the short film now & it’s so amazing! Why am I just finding out about this now?!? 😅😭😭

The actors produced the short/movie, and the whole point of this Short was to spark interest in a full length movie. They started a kickstarter right after they dropped the short.

I guess it's the plot that I don't like because the ending and the power and stuff seem a little bit off, it leaves me with nothing. I was expected like a rise of mutants against the discrimination or sth else, not like a guy saving his mom by hang out with bad guys, there are so many way for the director to do that.

Gotta love how robocops armed with machine guns are deployed on a scene of a smashed window of a car. And then, they just shoot not to protect the cop, but to revenge him. It feels more like a commentary than as a sci-fi. I love it.
I mean it was to protect everyone, the dude they shot was a threat after he tossed the cop

@@phobicbigot The cops act as the shock troops for the man. In this case, a black man, but still the man. Broken window, and all of a sudden lethal force is deployed for something that could have been addressed with a low level intervention at any time. The cop had it coming.
What do you think sci-fi is supposed to be?
sci-fi has always been commentary, it's the whole point of the genre
In 10 minutes, I saw a world being created and myself drawn to it, wanting to know more. The lavish production definitely helps. That's about as much as can be done in 10 minutes and for what its worth, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I lost interest right there. Any robot of that complexity would have had time to draw and fire on the brawler before he threw the guy into the car.
functionform they seemed like bulky, slower moving bots set as a secondary force to only respond under certain conditions.. Such as the incapacitation of an officer. Better to have a human asses and handle a situation over a v.i.. Robots arent fast. We arent anywhere near making nimble robots yet. Dont let hollywood fool you. I think its pretty raw and real the way they functioned
I felt like that other cop was trying to be reasonable, he seemed sympathetic.

Came here after googling if there was gonna be a sequel to the film. They already shot the film between October and December of 2021 with like double the budget they had for the first film! It will be released as a Netflix original film, hopefully suspected to be released late 2022 or early 2023. I cannot wait for Code 8: Part 2!!

+mason hernandez I think a TV series executive produced by Neil Blomkamp would be brilliant. And give it to either Syfy or USA. The CW will just add extra teen drama and stupidity, while Syfy is making bold and epic moves back into hardcore science fiction. And then USA has The Colony, another new and bold sci-fi property that's actually pretty damn good.

Too bad they changed the whole movie. None of what’s shown here is in the movie. They even changed some of the actors to different characters. The one who plays his friend here is an asshole cop in the full movie.

Seriously, everything about this short film drew me in immediately--the writing, the premise, the characters, the acting, the grittiness of it all. The VFX were icing on the cake. After this 10-minute teaser, I NEED to see the full-length film get made! And we're gonna do our best to make that happen!

Just watched the full movie on Netflix and was reading online about a second movie when I discovered that there was a short film that came first! I know I’m a little late to the scene, but I LOVED watching both the short and the full feature. The concept, writing, actors; all of it was amazing. I can’t wait for the next film to come out.

Wrong, it's a regionally accepted designation in most of California.

Finally a sci fi short movie that does not only have cool visual effects, but also has an interesting, compealing and *logic* story which is not filled with thousends of little faults

+InternetCannonFodder In this film the director is also the producer (so he can basically do whatever he'd like, assuming his team agrees to it). To add to this, it's a low-budget production, which means that if it fails to sell, it doesn't matter as much because the losses can be regained.
This isn't the case with companies like Warner Bros. If they make a movie and it fails to sell, they will come out with a loss (we're talking millions) - so they don't have the freedom to try new things (like this).

Really good production. Realistically, people with special powers would be ruling the rest of us.
Depends completely on how strong the abilities would be. Realistically, you would have to work along with the elements, not force them. Your initial strength would be dependent on whether you were natural or not, and the same goes for control. 1

Mhh if you watch "Heroes" you can see that you can hit or kill someone with power quite easily if you avoid being hit by them. I think that might be quite realistic unless they're Magneto!

Really interesting concept. Shot very well, clean dialog, good acting, great video effects and sound design. The production design was pretty good too. Overall, I wish this was a television series. I'd love to watch it.

I just watched it with my girlfriend about 20 minutes ago and holy crap why cant more movies be like that now, it was a good movie that had good storytelling and and new how to set up a world, I wished more big name IP's like starwars and start treck actually did something like this

I literally got goosebumps when his eyes and veins turned blue. I actually felt static or a "charge" in a way I've never experienced. Definitely will watch when it comes out.
