Cher has done several movies. In addition to winning the Oscar for Moonstruck, she received a Golden Globe for Mask. As a side note she starred with John Mahoney in the movie Suspect with Dennis Quaid. Her catalog is quite impressive. I highly recommend Suspect. A great suspense.
This is EXACTLY how my grandmother grew up, in the same area, same family lived in her house. I have watched this film a countless number of times. I am so lucky to have met my great grandparents and to have been close to my grandmother as well. I was not born with Italian taste, but that’s a story for a different time. 😂
I was so glad to see you watched and enjoyed this one! I was smiling and chuckling along with you both. 😁 My parents are New Yorkers, so we owned and watched this one a lot when I was a kid… felt like visiting family and our relatives’ friends and neighbors. Mask is good too and gives you a chance to see Cher playing a very different but equally strong character. Thanks to Red Dwarf (hope I got that right) for requesting this one!
Despite the fact that she won an Oscar for this Cher hasn't made a slew of movies but she has made some very good ones. What really started her film career in earnest was an important supporting role in the Meryl Streep film "Silkwood" that garnered her strong reviews which she followed up with two of her better films "Mask" (a compelling movie in which she gives a very moving performance) and the courtroom drama "Suspect" that costarred Dennis Quaid and a just starting out Liam Neesom. One of her later films with a wonderful cast (Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Joan Plowright, Lily Tomlin) is Tea with Mussolini directed by Franco Zeffirelli is his recollection of his youth in occupied Italy during WWII and the older group of women who helped raise him.
Grow up, Ronnie. Olympia has the best line in this whole film...."no matter what you do you're gonna die just like everybody else". Give the woman a clue on how to dress for the opera. I love the look on Cher's face when she sees her dad at the opera.
As an Italian American from New York, while slightly exaggerated, was a great portrayal of Italian American Family.Cher was great & deserved the Oscar😊
I’ve been a fan of Cher since The Sonny and Cher show. She’s gorgeous and talented. Was lucky enough to see her in concert. Suspect and Mask are definitely two of my favourite movies that she stars in. Thanks Nick and Jen. Great reaction ❤
So very glad y'all gave this movie the attention it richly deserves. It's sadly under-reacted-to. Your commentary was spot-on and contributed to the entire story of the eternal struggle for women and men to understand each other and to co-exist equally. Thanks for the wonderful reaction! My wife and I constantly quote this film, most often the line "SNAP OUT OF IT!"
This one takes me back. Nice to see you react to this one. People tend to forget how good Cher is and focus more on her sexy image and her looks and the plastic surgery. But Cher really is an amazing actress. Love her to bits. Personally I think her best role was in Mask (1985) which was based on a true story. Worth checking out for sure.
Love this-choice Directed by a fantastic Canadian, Norman Jewison. Top quality cast and the writing was incredible. BTW, the house used in the movie recently sold for nearly $15 million!
@Jen-Mom correction: It sold for $11 million. Little trivia fact. The actress that threw the water in John Mahoney's face is Cynthia Dale, a Canadian actress who is married to former CBC anchorman Peter Mansbridge I'm an Ottawa woman.
.. and now you have to watch Tea With Mussolini where Cher co-stars with three of the great acting 'Dames' .. Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Joan Plowright .. as well as Lilly Tomlin.
This was my mom and my favorite movie to watch together. We both loved movies and loved watching them together but coming from a big sicilian family ourselves this one was so specisl to us and so many little things that were so dead on made us laugh. She was the last and closest family i had. She died a couple years ago and to be honest i still struggle. I havent been able to bring myself to watch the movies we saw together. And i know how dumb it sounds but that... watching movies , telling stories , laughing and sharing jokes ...i miss that the most. It still sometimes happens that i turn to say "why dont we watch.." or "have you seen... you would love..." but her chair is empty. And it hurts. Alot. Ive decided to pull the bandaid on this one. But i cant face it alone so... i dont know if it will be easier with another parebt/child dynamic or harder. But here i go i guess.
❤ Thank you for watching with us! We are honoured to have you. 🙏🏼 I am sure all of the great memories you have of spending time with your Mom will come back to comfort you when you watch the movies again that you both loved so much. 🤗 I lost my Mom a few years ago and it still hurts a lot. I understand. ❤️
@@Jen-Mom thank you fir reaching out! It was so kind of you. And thank you fir reminding me I'm nit alone - others carry their losses too and understand the pain! I did enjoy watching with you both!
I know they got mentioned in the comments a lot already, but The Witches of Eastwick & Mermaids are definitely awesome Cher movies to check out (including some quite familiar faces)😀😀
What a fun reaction!!!!! Such a nice movie! This was right in the middle of a string of wild Nicolas Cage performances that put him on the map: Valley Girl, Birdy, Raising Arizona, this one, Peggy Sue Got Married, Vampire's Kiss, Wild At Heart, Kiss Of Death. As far as Cher, the movie that put her on the map as an actress was "Silkwood" which came out shortly before this one. Thanks, guys!
Fab film and fab review. Cher's great in The Witches of Eastwick too. It stars Cher, Michelle Pffifer, Susan Sarandon and Jack Nicholson. It's also fabulous.
Crossovers, when singers become actors... Did NOT work for Madonna, but Cher has been incredible. Della Reese, too. And I think Doris Day. But Madonna, no. Great reaction! Love this movie. And I lived with a Sicilian romantically a couple years, still very good friends 50-some years later. That's exactly how Sicilians are. Except for Johnnie.
@joshuayeager3686 I would argue that she was in the films but did not get acclaim for them. She does have a nack for performing music for films like Die Another Day, Evita and W. But acting? No. Cher and Streisand beat her out, to my mind.
The mother had to demonstrate virtue in order to make the demand that he desist from his vice. If they had not created this character-revealing scene, she would have had a weaker appeal for him to stop.

Suspect is excellent and hardly anybody seems to know of it.
@@bluefriend62 I loved Suspect .. and the clever twist at the end when you find out that the ***** did it !

I may know your grandmother.

Nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture but won for

.. and Suspect also co-stared John Mahoney (the guy who kept getting a drink thrown into his face in this film).
Glad you enjoyed this movie. It’s one of my favorites. Everything Cher touches is gold.
Except, perhaps, the 1996 film Faithful 😝

I took my mom to see this in the theater. Such a fun film, glad you enjoyed.

The back movie ever portray an Italian family from New York. Cher was absolutely brilliant and deserve the Academy Award along with Olympia Dukakis
Brooklyn!
One of my favorite movies of all time! Thanks for the great reaction!
Mask is my favorite with her. And Mermaids. She had a smaller role in Silkwood as well. A good movie with Meryl Streep.

"Pop" stole every scene he was in. Even the other actors said that too.
Ha that’s what my husband always says.
Loooove this film, glad someone finally reacted to it😍

Cher is magnificent in this movie!! My favorite romantic comedy EVER!! Thanks for sharing your joyous reaction!!

Actually, Madonna has had critical acclaim in multiple films like Evita, A League Of Their Own and Four Rooms, among others.

You should watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It's another European family story. And there's bundt.
Mom and I love that movie!! "Yes. Inside the lump...was my twin!"
"This cake has a hole in it." 🥰
Silkwood is a good movie with Cher.
Best romcom of all time!
It's hilarious to watch an Anglo family (or, midwesterners?) completely confused by Mediterranean temperament and Italo-American culture.
The Witches of Eastwick. Silkwood. Mask. Mermaids
Brooklyn not the city, Brooklyn. my neighborhood. I hung out with the Cammeri family. There is a Nicky.
Go to,p the opera! And La Bohemia is one of the best.
Hi there
“They have mistresses”. Who is “they”??
Hey are you guys going to react to the Scream 6 trailer ?
I lost my hand. I could have been great.
Watch eega movie from Tollywood and see how many people will like your review
Moonstruck is really a delightful film.
