Interesting stuff Chris. Would love to see a bit of a review including some other Australian brands such as Pedal Mafia, Attaquer, Soomom, Neopro (who don’t use sublimated Lycra 😉). There are plenty more out there too. Also interested in your thoughts on matching socks to kit and also matching (or contrasting) other accessories such as bidons to bike frames.
@@deepspringboy @CG two types of lycra pre-dyed and post-dyed aka sublimated. Pre-dyed is created that colour out of the factory aka textile mill. Sublimated is white lycra that is dyed later, either for a logo or for a design/print. The issue with sublimated lycra is the colour is not as well fixed as pre-dyed. So if you get bibs like my NeoPro bibs with a majority of pre-dyed lycra and a panel on the back that is sublimated for the brand name. So all panels start life as the same colour, after a few washes the pre-dyed lycra is still the original colour, the post dyed lycra has faded. The other issue with sublimated is lycra leprosy, a big chunk of the lycra can lose it's colour, so you can end up with big faded areas. This is far more common in bibs than jerseys. I refuse to buy bibs that have been sublimated with a brand or logo, it is a risk I am not willing to take, especially when most kit companies have moved away from sublimated logos. I will buy sublimated designs, the bibs will have a shorter life span than solid colour pre dyed, but if the look good, then I will.
@@nickobec Thanks mate, great explanation. I'm guessing that's why Neopro can market/sell their bibs and jerseys as cheaper than bigger brands, as the quality is lower?
Fashion Fridays are becoming best viewing of the week. Good and famous from the states do some interesting and left field stuff. Par Küp is a new Aussie brand worth a look too. Come on @rapha just do a run on the kit give the people what they want lol.
Not going to bad mouth most things to be honest. I would say go back and have a look at the video I did talking about their merino jerseys, certainly wasn’t positive.
would love to see a review of the more affordable brand like NeoPro cycling and society cycling and how they stand up against the more quality brands like black sheep and rapha and if there more affordable prices are worth the product. especially for people like me with a family and living of one wage

Chris: makes a video about some jerseys from *premium* brands People in comments: tHis Is uNAfFoRDaBle Y’all know that you’re not obligated to purchase these, right? There are plenty offerings from more affordable brands out there. So you expect Chris to make a video of literally every single brand under the sun? C’mon guys.. be better.
Check the Pedal Mafia stuff. Their past few releases have been great looking. Also maybe look at the middle ground ranges. The every day kits that people wear when they dont want to get their "good" kit ruined. Eg Raphas Core range. Mid priced but still not cheap. That could be a total can of worms being opened.
Hey Steve. Good idea on the middle range stuff. The problem I have reviewing that start stuff is so much of it is quality based, so without putting the miles into the kit it’s hard to really comment on them. That said, I’ll always comment on the look 😁
PNS the schoolboy in me wants to add an E and I and unfortunately if I see another rider in PNS kit, that is what I subconsciously think that of them. So a no from me. Black Sheep, far more interested in their long sleeve aero racing. As losing 50 grams from a jersey is not going to help me win races with climbs. Not a fan of the gradients, only the Vista Blue gets a yeah from me. Aero it would be Autumn Glaze (jersey) + Italian Plum (bibs and gilet) La Passione, like the understated look, but the colour palate. Sage maybe, so overall no. MAAP, as much as I like the technical detail of the jersey, the M on the front and A on the back mean it is a no. Rapha not a fan of the design of that jersey. US brands Ostroy has big social media presence and does some real amazing designs, no experience with yet. Velocio had good experience, but they have been swallowed by the SRAM borg. Search and State, nice kit just order bibs by height not weight. I do have some very short bib shorts.
I heartily recommend that you try some Pas Normal clothing. I really like the bibshorts especially the pads/chamois, the best I've ridden yet (reference point Assos, Castelli and Santini). Try buy them at a sale because of the price.. 😬 I have the Control Fleece bibs, Mechanism Long and Solitude Short sleave jersey. The fabric (made in Italy or nearby) are second to none. It's hard to put back some other brand clothing after a ride. By the way, avoid the bibshorts from La Passione, terrible fit.. I do own a few La Passione merino wool shirts though that fit perfectly. So don't judge a book by it's cover too much 😉
Most cyclists aren’t going to throw $200 plus on a jersey when the same brands have cheaper stock (ie Rapha have the core jersey for less than $120). Here’s a challenge…do a fashion Friday on how you can do a complete wardrobe (jerseys, bibs/tights, gilet, rain jacket, winter accessories) for less than $700.
Please do a video on the marketing Chris it will be legendary! I will for sure need a new pair of pants as I will end up wetting myself at some point in the video. Big news with Russel Wilson, bet your dreams have come true. He will be able to throw the deep ball about 500 yards up in mile high 😂
Society Cycling is P4P the best stuff out, very new and super high quality with great value But obvs of the new people alot of people big NeoPro & Soomom Otherwise I dig Pedal Mafia, Attaquer and Black Sheep occasionally
Don’t like the looong sleeves on most of them, only Rapha’s sleeves were a sensible length…suns out, guns(?) out ( yeah , I know we skinny cyclists don’t have guns! No rain here in NZ for a long time, great for riding.
Throw in some views of Aliexpress brands like Spexcel and YKBike. I've got some great jerseys from Spexcel that have very similar features of the La Passione you featured. Hard to stomach paying 4x more for just the brand name.
Sorry; I generally enjoy your videos; but this IMHO, wasn’t your best. Fashion and what people like is very subjective. Listening to you labour through what colour schemes you like (without actually reviewing the products) was a little cringeworthy. I’m not really sure what this video achieved. I’ll definitely keep watching your content but will respectfully skip your “Fashion Fridays”.
Universal Colours do what Pas Normal do but better and it doesn't say PENIS on the back. As for Russell Wilson in Denver, I'm stoked for you and I think it's a massive improvement but he'll need a running game to support him and I don't think he has it yet As for American brands for Fashion Fridays, PACTIMO has an Artist Series which is hit/miss, and Ostroy has *amazing* stuff, as well as Ornot and God & Famous. I should make my own RUclips channel uh?
I know you mean well and do this in jest, but I feel this video perpetuates the elitist and exclusive nature of cycling. Not affordable for the average Joe who wants to get into it.
@minchia04 if you carry this logic to any show about cars, they love to talk above the latest and greatest sports cars, is that perpetuating driving is elitist and exclusive. Most shows about houses are well above the budget of your average person (particularly in Australia) does that mean they are perpetuating living in a house is elitist and exclusive. Cooking shows with expensive ingredients does that make eating exclusive. @Chris Miller Cycling is talking about one segment of the market, there is plenty of variety in the market and cycling in general. Hell I am a 62 year old racing a 16 year old alloy bike against kids younger than my bike, riding bikes with external ( ie exposed) brake cables, cycling is not elitist or exclusive.
@@ChrisMillerCycling sorry Chris, I really do enjoy your other videos. $230 for Black Sheep, €180 for PNS……., most people need a stock of 4-6 jerseys, so $1000 or €1000 just for a set of new jerseys - all before you refresh the stock of bib shorts - madness! Making this stuff seem normal only feeds the image of cycling in Australia that it is elitist - I live in continental Europe, here it is so much more democratic, so much less focussed on being a fashion parade, more of a regular persons sport…..consequently there is not the anti-cyclist sentiment that is such a problem in Australia and the UK.

PNS has always had the laziest designs, most of it has always been just copying Nike Gyakusou. Success mainly based on showing off purchasing power.

Ever since a friend showed me Brandt Sorenson's catalog, I haven't been able to stomach PNS - blatant copies of a small-scale, independent operator.
