The pottery is relatively modern, prob circa 1900 to 1920, you can tell by the decoration and lack of abrasion. Always worth keeping an eye on backside erosion as you do sometimes find Roman ceramics, especially on the Ribble.
Thanks for the detailed reply. Relatively modern in the grand scheme of things but to think it’s likely over 100 years old is really interesting! How would one know if they’ve found a Roman ceramic?
Adventure Fishing UK Roman ceramics take on several forms, all of which is unglazed. You have the Samian ware that is red and sometimes decorated, black burnished ware which is black with a slight sheen, mortaria which is chunky with granular inclusions, used for grinding grain and amphora, cream coloured and chunky. Medieval ceramics tend to be grey fabric and can have a green glaze.
Just sat having me tea and thought I would watch your video on the TV .. that’s why you are called adventure fishing. .. love that’s a little tunnel spot but looks like your wellies loved it even more 🤣🤣🤣…. Had my first trout fishing adventure what is the season on Sunday for a few hours. Managed to count to 2 brownies on the river ure … biggest was 3 lb 4 oz !! Proper little fatty it was ….. it’s amazing what places you can find with Google Maps. It’s just double checking in making sure we are not on private land. But if you don’t know it just has to be worth a try !! Cracking video as always and all the best to you my friend 👍🏽😀🎣
Thanks for watching John! I’d be lying if I said my videos weren’t intended for the big screen 😂 3 pounder is a great effort on that trout, I’ve not had one nearly as big since before I made the channel. Small tiny streams like that I find people don’t mind as they’re mostly roadside! Hope you’re well 👍
@@adventurefishinguk if your videos were on TV that would just be amazing !!!! We need fishing back on tv !! …. Like when john Wilson was on !!! He was a great bloke …. So c’mon !!! Get them magic crocs on and get channel 4 phoned up 👍🏽😀🎣😀
@@johnloxley8705 I’ve been considering this for a while now! Definitely will be something I try in the future 👍 I’m looking forward to the crocs too! I have just acquired some waders though.. maybe I’ll have to flip a coin at the start of every video haha
@@adventurefishinguk that’s weird as I was guna ask if you have any waders and if so what ones to buy as I’m looking for a pair…. I got a pair of snowbee ones given to me last year and on my first outing found out they had a hole in them and also the felt on the boot shoes were coming away !! That’s why they were free 🤣🤣🤣…. Had more fish in Ma pants than ever before 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad you went on and explored it George! I was here the other day just paddling and fishing up under the bridge and was very tempted to go up it, glad I can save my wellies now 😂
Thanks mate I’m really glad you enjoyed it! I tried a bit of bfs a while ago, before I used a bait caster for pike properly. Had a fair few birds nests on my £40 cheap Chinese reel and decided to sack it off 😂
You can control depth with how high your keep your rod tip as well as speed mate so if it’s sinking too fast you can hold the rod higher. Some spinners are lighter than others too ie Mepps weigh less than savage gear rotex

Gorgeous part of the country; Coming up to the Lake District myself next week for a holiday, can’t wait to maybe catch some fish :)
I’m sure you will mate if you put the time in! Can be tough going but amazing fishing if you’re in the right place at the right time
I'm glad you went on and explored it George! I was here the other day just paddling and fishing up under the bridge and was very tempted to go up it, glad I can save my wellies now 😂
Haha yeah it’s probably not worth getting right in there unless you’ve got waders 😂 I couldn’t resist though!
Back with the trout stream videos !!! Yesss ! Hope your doing well George
Good to be home 😂 thanks mate hope you’re well too!
@@adventurefishinguk all good man ,counting down till the trout season for me ,only 5 days to go !
Awesome video mate and nice location 👍🎣
Thanks mate, unique little stretch of stream isn't it! Thanks for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed it
Another awesome video man . Loved it . Wish had some trout rivers near me I'd love to use the bfs rod for them

@Adventure Fishing UK yeh if you get a decent reel it's not bad if you've used a baitcaster for abit . I love it time lures on the vaitcaster
Fantastic video!
Thanks mate I appreciate that!
The pottery is most likely to be Victorian. Fun to find!
That’s interesting! I wouldn’t have thought it would be that old, thanks for weighing in on it!
Nice one mate
Thanks mate!
Now then 😂 gets me every time
Haha well the good old Now then is here to stay
Ive always found spinners a challenge to fish with. Is it a fast retrieve sort of thing, because it would obviously sink fast right?

@@adventurefishinguk Ok cheers for the tip i mist of lost atleast 10 🤣
w0w bagus banget sungai nya banyak ikan nya
Terima kasih teman
nice to hear the barbless comment. I wince when I think of what trebles do a trout's mouth.
I’ve found trebles tend to be absolutely fine with trout in my experience, better to be on the safe side with barbless though
Best to change them for a single hook .👍
The cup was deco around 1920s
Thanks mate, cool to hear it’s about 100 years old
Are these small streams free to fish? or do you have to find what major river it comes from and contact the respective club?
If they're publicly accessible, nothing about them online and no signs i'd say have a crack!
When you are walking through woody areas, you should have your rod tip following you, not ahead of you.
Is that to prevent the chances of snapping it? Good suggestion, I’ve lost a fly rod that way before. I do tend to be a lot more careful these days
@@adventurefishinguk Yes, snapping or generally getting tangled. If it follows you, everything brushes off it, and neither of the things occur. atb.
Waders maybe useful?!
Fortunately I’ve managed to acquire some!
