Transforming My Deck with Cabot Cool Feel Stain | DIY Deck Makeover
Is your deck looking old and dingy? Mine was too, but not anymore! Watch as I give my deck a stunning refresh using the new Cabot Cool Feel stain. This amazing product not only revives the look of the wood but also helps reduce surface temperature by up to 20 degrees!
Steps to Refresh Your Deck:
1. Preparation: After removing all the furniture from the porch, I applied painter's tape around the sides. Proper preparation is key, so I used two Valspar products:
▶️ Wood Stripper: Apply, let it sit, then scrub off the top layer.
▶️ All-In-One Wood Prep: This cleans the surface and removes the stripper product.
After letting the deck dry for a few days, it was ready for staining.
2. Applying Cabot Cool Feel Stain:
▶️ This stain offers durable, even color that blocks UV rays and deflects the sun's heat.
▶️ I used a Cabot stain pad to apply the stain, but you can also use polyester brushes or professional spray equipment.
▶️ If using more than one gallon, remember to shake, stir, and blend the containers together for consistency.
▶️ Apply the stain in small sections, one to three boards at a time, starting from one edge to the other.
▶️ Since my deck was previously stained, I applied two coats. For raw or new wood, one coat is sufficient.

Looks nice, but I would go back with a paint brush and get in between the spaces, but I would do it before staining the floor!

What did the valspar stripper and the product used to “wash” it afterwards do to the soil and vegetation around the porch after you rinsed it all off? Something tells me it’s not plant, water or pet friendly…
If you look it up it claims to be biodegradable and safe for the environment in low concentrations so as long as she added enough water in rinsing/gave the garden an extra watering, it should be fine assuming the company didn't mislead.

VERY Poor Furniture choice. Those high-legged chairs are NEVER COMFORTABLE FOR VERY LONG. YES, they ARE OH, SO TRENDY LOOKING-very cool, but I’ve sat on many of them and after awhile I want an ordinary, COMFORTABLE, UNTRENDY chair to sit in!
BLAH!!!
