Whenever im told there is a key change on a gig i try and ask too many questions about it until the singer is confused on why im even asking. Drummer humor.
best moments: 1. the way you hold back in the first chorus to let it hit even harder the second time 2. drummer “WTF” face at the key change 3. halftime outro!!
From a guy that was in a band, a long time ago, with friends, that played emo, screamo, and punk covers, popular or not, and a couple of originals, in our back yards, with our amps turned all the way up, with a few female admirers.. You guys rock!
Wrong lyrics on the last bridge before the key change chorus. It's supposed to go "we've got to hold on, ready or not, we live for the fight but it's all that we got!"
Great rendition! I heard "Friday I'm in Love" by The Cure the other day on the radio and wondered if you could do a version of that. Not sure which would sound better...a country version or a pop punk version.
Dude as a kid who became a Bon Jovi stan at 13 in 2000 when I was otherwise listening to pop punk nonstop, this made me cry. Thanks, didn't know I needed this in my life!
This is one of those songs that when covered the cover always pails in comparison to the original not offering anything original nor distinct. But you have managed to make a fresh, distinct and awesome version of the song- well done.
Alex, my guy, you are seriously my favorite band of this year. You're so goddamn good at breathing new life into all of these songs. Incredible, dude. Keep it up.
I remember seeing Philmore at a tiny venue in Valparaiso, Indiana back in '99 or '00. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of most of their stuff, but that cover caught my attention
This is fantastic. There’s just something overwhelmingly optimistic about the drums that gets me in this cover, not sure how to explain it, but it all just meshes perfectly.
What nails this is the way he bounces with the guitar while singing into the mic. I didn't even realize how crucial that was to this until I saw him doing it. Well done
I love all these pop punk covers, but there was something about this one that was super legit and lit. Love the guitar solo, the modern day sound, just a solid arrangement. Keep them coming Alex!
I swear Alex _created and owns_ this as a new form/category of pop music.... "pop/punk covers of songs you know". Production is on point. Videography is on point. I'd love to hear/see covers of songs like: Petty - "American Girl"... Joe Jackson - "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" Steve Miller - "Gangster of Love" Alex has 1st mover status... the worlds song catalog is his oyster... really looking forward to what he puts out...
There's people who are really talented... And then there's you, you're literally insane. You can put out a freaking album of these and it would blow up. Unreal. Keep it up man you're awesome
Honestly this possibly the first time I'm properly listening to the lyrics in the verses. Its actually lyrically really good ngl. Like the last bit of the second verse "Gina dreams of running away When she cries in the night, Tommy whispers "Baby, it's okay, someday"", suprisingly emotional lyrics.
This needs to go viral!! You my friend, you need to be heard to millions!!! I love your take on things, it can be different and still be ok. I love bon Jovi, but you kill it man!! Your open mind needs to be shared with all!!
Funny because I was just talking about the new fall out boy album and how it's a lot of hair metal anthems, done in fall out boy style. This encapsulates that theory perfectly. Thank you.
I knew the dude landed the gig when he arrived in the same uniform as the rest of the band.
I rather think it's because they all got the same beard.
@@rf8362 Nah, definitely because of the same hat
😂😂😂
Haha! 😂. Great arrangement on this!
But how was there pizza leftover? Like those dudes weren't hungry?
One of the biggest joys I have is showing people your music when I DJ at weddings. The amount of people who come up to me and ask "who is this??? 😊😊😊"
I feel like I’m an Alex melton ambassador as well.
It's just one of the many things that make you the world's best wedding DJ.
@@sebrontucker4725 or one of the top 2753, at the very least
Copyrights love it
Oh yeah? Take it you're licensing that? 😉
I love how the drummer just shrugs at the key change 🤣🤣
i came to say this LOL
In some international hand signal manual for drummers, that could mean. "Tempo going up dude!" Chaos would have ensued :P
Whenever im told there is a key change on a gig i try and ask too many questions about it until the singer is confused on why im even asking. Drummer humor.
3:10 Yep
Most realistic part of the video.
POV: You accidentally made the best Domino's commercial
Brilliant. Now I'm imagining a pop punk version of Def Leppard, for some reason.
Pop Punk photograph would go hard.
Hysteria would be a great one. Or Love Bites.
A yellowcard version of I Am Your Child would go so hard
@@jlhitz35 like Nickelback? he did that already
@@tyawesome111 No, like the Def Leppard song Photograph: ruclips.net/video/D4dHr8evt6k/видео.html
I'm not sure if you take requests, but I was wondering if you would do "Hey There Delilah" if Blink 182 wrote it. Keep up the great work!
This man's heard AI Ye
@@RKairos we need an AI Ye album
That's a damn good idea

YES
It feels like 2005 all over again. Great job!
Hi Friendo! I see you have excellent taste as well haha
@@ReneRunsRPGs yessss!!!!! Alex Melton is my favorite! Next time he goes on tour I know who to go with lol.
1999 for me
pop punk never went away after 2005
@@noseblind2088 I know that, silly. I still listen to the same music as I did then and more. But this one especially feels like 2005 to me.
As usual, this is even more epic than I imagined!
Love your username.
The Starting Line influence on this cover is so heavy, love it!
Was about to say the same thing!
There’s a bit of Stellar Kart’s version of this song in here. I feel like it had to have influenced it, though the anthem style is different.
best moments:
1. the way you hold back in the first chorus to let it hit even harder the second time
2. drummer “WTF” face at the key change

Yeah man I love these guys, I think the drummer is my favorite though!
this one is a hit 🔥
Awesome. Again. Why am I always surprised?
You’re a national treasure dude.

Wrong lyrics on the last bridge before the key change chorus. It's supposed to go "we've got to hold on, ready or not, we live for the fight but it's all that we got!"
God, the vibes on this are perfect. The first chorus arrangement? Goosebumps.
Why is this not on Spotify?!?!😢
You know the song, you know pop punk, and still you turned it into something completely unique that surprises the listener. Incredible!
Great rendition! I heard "Friday I'm in Love" by The Cure the other day on the radio and wondered if you could do a version of that. Not sure which would sound better...a country version or a pop punk version.
I'm casting my vote for pop punk
I didn’t know that was written by them, it just doesn’t seem like something they wrote
YES
3:03 *points up for the key change
We need more “Worship Band” covers 😏 the extended mixes and drawn out bridges really are something else 🔥
Definitely, I would love to see an album of these
boys like girls - hero/heroine was the best at worshified version
@@adamchater7 now that’s just flirting!
@@cmja09 100%!!! Absolutely incredible rendition!
Sounds like boys like girls. Is this what you were going for? Sounds amazing!
I loved the "key change" part. The drums are like "whatever..." Great arrangement! Keep up the excellent work! 👍👍
I feel like this changes the tone of the song in a subtle and beautiful way. Excellent job!
Its the Orange Amps
When does this hit spotify?!?!?! I must listen more
damn. this incredible.
Good Charlotte version.
PLEASE GET THIS ON SPOTIFY!!!!!!
So did he make the band?
he was the band!
Everything alex touches turns to pure gold!
Alex, Alex, Alex, and Alex just keep topping themselves with every reimagining!
3:26 _whoa, we're halftime there_
Dude as a kid who became a Bon Jovi stan at 13 in 2000 when I was otherwise listening to pop punk nonstop, this made me cry. Thanks, didn't know I needed this in my life!
All that’s missing is the end credits for a late 90s early 2000s movie. Starring either Reese Witherspoon or Kate Hudson.
I wanna give you a compliment, but I don’t really know what to say. You are just fucking awesome.
This is one of those songs that when covered the cover always pails in comparison to the original not offering anything original nor distinct. But you have managed to make a fresh, distinct and awesome version of the song- well done.
Everything can be pop-punk. That is the only reality of this world
sounds even better played at 1.25 speed. try it.
"Bring Pizza" great pop punk band name!
As if this song didn't get stuck in my head hard enough already. Very nice!
The drummer during the key change is gold.
Beast cover! More from Bon Jovi please!
I wish I could listen to all these on Spotify.
Alex, my guy, you are seriously my favorite band of this year. You're so goddamn good at breathing new life into all of these songs. Incredible, dude. Keep it up.
the drummer faces 😂
Alex Melton is my favourite pop punk band
Petition for the next Punk Goes Pop album to be all Alex Melton.
Like hearing to Foo Fighters. Excellent!
... when someone loves the song more than the creator.
Driving around the town looking for a gig montage in an early 2000s movie about being in a local band. Incredible.
Alex, my guy, you make me want to get back into my pop punk band lol looks like I have so phone calls
We’re they upset when they found out you didn’t write this 🤪
3:11 Alex The Drummer's Reaction 🤣
This is fast becoming one of my favorite channels on RUclips! Thanks!
3:10 I love how the guitarists are both like "oh yeah, keychange!" and the dummer is like "what are you guys talking about let's get back to the song"
Love the lick break. Love it whole
I love how the drummer shrugs and shakes his head before the key change.
Boys Like Girls vibes !!!!!!!!
Hahahaha, the split screen before key change where everyone knows except the drummer. I felt this 😂😂😂
Philmore did a great version of this one. It wasn't as creative as Alex' version, but it was very true to the original and actually improved upon it.

Monster of a cover!
Those camera whips at 0:43 to 0:48 between all four of you were perfect.

Hey when is this gonna be on apple music and spotify?

More of this. :D \m/
As someone who watches youtube at 1.5x or higher, I appreciate Alex's intros so I can change the speed back to 1x.

Nails the octave slide run for the solo. That's pop punk guitar solo 101.
Big finish goes halftime instead of doubling down. Nailed it.
This has crazy The Starting Line vibes...and I'm totally here for it.
Hey you're right! I love the starting line. Cutest bass player ever.
Dont know why I like covers, or pop punk so much but I do.
How could it be more awesome than that ?!?!?
I liked the guy with the black Hoodie and the red beard the most. Great work Alex, love it. Enjoy your well deserved Pizza.
Okay, the pointing up to signify the key change was hilarious. Guitarist and bassist got it, but the drummer is like, "whatever." Fucking hilarious 😂
It's good to see that pop punk still resonates in people's hearts! It's great your version man it kills!!
