Suggestion for the end of this next year is that all the textbooks should be stacked on your counter because the cabinets are made of osb/particle board (not solid wood) and not designed to hold that much weight.
When we have old curriculum, our librarian takes it and either stores it or sends back to the district. Maybe you can check and see if that's an option for you. Storage space is prime real estate in a room and you should be able to utilize it all. Love the set-up videos!
I have to stuff textbooks in my cabinets over summer too. But i always put them on the shelf closest to the floor because it is most supported! I hope you were able to get it fixed!!
One way that I put books in my classroom my first year was to go to the campus library and check books out. I displayed them standing open so that the shelves looked cute. I also took books out of the grade level book closet and borrowed books from other teachers. Over time, I found more books at yard sales, teacher retirement sales, free book sites, and discarded Library books.
Can’t you flip the shelf around? (It was in backwards, the edge was raw particle board instead of finished white). The front will still have the broken corners but the shelf will work if you put the tab things back in the holes.
I always start with my desks...then move by everything around it. I teach first grade. I love your classroom!! 26th year teaching in N.Y. ❤🎉
Thank you!!

One way I would do it is just get a shelf to put in the corner and if I don’t have book get some for the library or from family and friends

I love watching these kinds of videos but I want to focus more on the setup and not talking through everything 🙈
