The piece of crocheted lace could an antimaccsar, which was used to protect the back or arms of a chair. Enjoyed seeing your mourning jewelry. You always find such interesting items!
I adore the album and large jewelry casket- Really unique! You must have at least one whole room dedicated to your collection, you seem to have a lot of pieces! I think you did the mourning jewelry great justice in displaying it in that unique case. I’m guessing the lace had much sentimental value. Love seeing your finds :)
Hi Hannah! I could probably fill a room with jewelry! 😬 I am lucky to have a supportive partner who doesn't mind the multiple jewelry cabinets in our house. lol He even refinished the cabinets for me. I do keep it contained to just a few areas though. Thanks for the kind words and for watching! ♥️♥️♥️
Your display is lovely! You have a really nice collection. Sealing it in is a good way of protecting the hair from pest damage. I have a number of mourning jewelry pieces too, including woven work netted pieces which have to live in sealed containers currently to keep them safe. I really enjoy seeing other collections. Thank you for sharing yours, Connie
Thank you!! That is a great point about protecting the hair pieces. I am going to seal the glass with silicone. Hopefully they last for another hundred years. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!! For whatever reason it had a piece of crochet/lace in it when I found it- but it does seem like the perfect shape for a fan. Thank you for watching! ♥️♥️♥️
I absolutely adore your collection of mourning pieces!! Your idea of display is wonderful!! You find such marvelous things!! I have a few pieces and an engraved locket with an early tin type of a handsome gentleman circa 1860. I call him Mr. Darcy from the book Pride and Prejudice!!❤️❤️
Thank you Sylvia!! ❤️❤️❤️ Ohh that locket sounds wonderful- and I love the Mr. Darcy reference. I have collection of books too- which includes Jane Austen. 😊 Love tin types and any antique photographs really. I try to save them when I can!
Very nice display case & your collection of mourning jewelry looked very nice in it !!! I don't have any mourning jewelry but would like to find some !!! Loved the pins with the glass over braided hair & the black 🖤 locket with the two colored portraits in it !!! You have such beautiful jewelry !!! ❤️🙂
I love the photo album! Your new display is really nice, and the mourning jewelry looks great in it. I think the crocheted lace could be a Victorian doily (or newer, people still make them). Maybe someone's grandma made it and they kept it in the box to keep it safe and to remember her.
Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️ You are probably right about it being a keepsake that a family member/grandmother made. I know nothing about crochet/lacework items so I wasn’t sure. It was special enough to someone to keep it in that case- so I don’t feel right just getting rid of it. Not entirely sure what to do with it yet though! 😅
Thank you! Some of the chains were used as watch chains that would hold a pocket watch on the end. The longer linked chains were used as necklaces. ❤️ Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much!! I have a few stick pins that I've found in various jewelry jars/bags. They are mainly costume- I may have a few gold filled/sterling pieces- but I do have a little pin cushion where I keep the more interesting ones. I will share them in a video :). Hopefully I will add more antique/special stick pins to my collection in the future. ❤❤❤
Thank you!! I have tried this on a few pieces in the past but need to test it out on all of them. I've heard using unglazed ceramic works to see the mark best. I have not tried that though! ♥️♥️
Thank you!! I wasn't sure if it was something more interesting since someone had it saved in that box/case. Makes me feel better about taking it out. ♥️
lol you would think so!! My house was also built in 1902 - so plenty of time for ghosts to take up residence but I’ve yet to have a paranormal experience! Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
I feel that you are doing a great service (honor) displaying and protecting them. Thanks for sharing your love of ‘collecting’.👍🏽♥️🤗
Thank you so much!! I appreciate that and hope that I am helping to preserve their history. ❤️❤️❤️
Would love to see a tour of your curio cabinets someday
I will definitely do that! Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you!! I had never heard the term antimacassar before- something new to look up. 😊 I think you are exactly right. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the display case. I’d love to come across something like it.

Your wonderful collection looks lovely in what I think is a frame for an antique fan. Thank you for sharing.

Me too. 😊 ❤️❤️❤️
Great display of your growing collection! I have a small collection of mourning jewelry. It’s so fascinating the history and meaning behind them.
Thank you Barb!! The history is what fascinates me and keeps me collecting them. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Deborah!! The tiny pins with the glass compartments are some of my favorites. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
I like your collection, especially the locket.
The lace was probably used to cover furniture, either a chair or on a table.
Thank you!! I think you are right about the lace. ❤️❤️

How is a “mourning chain used? I love mourning jewelry. You have a nice collection. Thanks.

@@LittleBlueJewelryBox awesome! I have all mine on a form along with my victorian gold brooches. Jewellery is so much fun! So addictive
10:13 is Jet, I need to teach the difference 😬
Yes! I cant wait for your mourning jewelry video- I need to learn how to tell the difference!! lol ♥️♥️♥️
The mourning jewellery in the glass show case will you still be able to wear it if you seal the glass to the box?
Lauren, I have a box of photos from lockets you may love ❤️
Oooh definitely sounds like something I would love! ♥️
If you rub jet onto white paper it will leave a brown mark.
Thank you!! I have tried this on a few pieces in the past but need to test it out on all of them. I've heard using unglazed ceramic works to see the mark best. I have not tried that though! ♥️♥️
Hello, will you be reselling any of pieces, look forward to @ your beg 2:11
Not selling any of the pieces at the moment. Will let you know if I do though. Thanks for watching! ❤️❤️
13:03 is crochet, probably a furniture cover
Thank you!! I wasn't sure if it was something more interesting since someone had it saved in that box/case. Makes me feel better about taking it out. ♥️
So is your house haunted yet? Just kidding 😄 lovely collection
