Trouble possibly afoot for those of us relying on a self funded retirement through our Superannuation.
ABC TV has been publishing and broadcasting interviews and commentary of a couple who state they should be still paying tax on their Super during retirement because others still pay tax.
It could be a pre-empt to try to persuade the public to agree with the idea. Maybe it's already in the pipeline with Labor reforms and ABC was asked to do a report to soften the blow.
That means a lot of us who have saved all our lives, paid our income taxes, paid concessional contribution tax as well, could be facing a significant reduction on our Super pensions.
It would mean my Super pension retirement goals may mean having to find cheaper places to live. Not being one to own a primary residence, but instead will be relying off my Super pension for rent as well, means this ABC idea if it comes true, will put me into a terrible frugal living. I would be forced to cash out all my Super, buy a small apartment somewhere and claim government pension instead - therefore a burden to taxpayers.
