- A green oak bench made by Tom Bickerdike from a fallen tree. Using just hand tools this bench was created over the space of two days. The oak tree was from Horsenden Hill Woods in North Ealing, London and needed to be felled for safety reasons.

absolutely lovely... grand dad was wood worker, built grandma's house... couldn't read or write, i would later work with wood in different capacity, but wonderful with the hand tools and no "hardware"... love it completely. GOD BLESS

Muy lindas las cositas que haces pero deberias comprarte la herramienta necesaria para cargar tu madera, ya dejen de utilizar a los animales para trabajos pesados ya no vivimos en el año 1 ahora existen de todo tipo de camiones y cosas para carga.

Bark does not have to be removed? Water will get between the bark and wood and will rot.
It seems to me that the bench will be stable when the legs have the shape "W".
The bench is good and sturdy 2½ years later. Oak weathers well although it greys in colour
Good wood withstands weather conditions. Four years ago I laid a sidewalk made of pieces of roof rafters, painted with old car oil, which keeps well, in my north-eastern Poland we have extreme weather conditions.

Loved the video; masterful skill and the bench looks great! Question for you; what would you recommend to finish the wood to protect it from UV/Water over time? I want to build one of these out in my forest and want it to last! Thank you.
I'm just the cameraman but Tom assured me that Oak looks after itself and doesn't need treating.
