You guys are great fun to watch! I LOVE this sport! I’m not athletic, been playing for about a year and got MY FIRST ATP last week, Dec 29, 2022! My opponents were so surprised because of my (lack of) skill level, they stopped and came up to congratulate me! Such fun!
just got a paddle for christmas! can't wait to start playing more. These videos are super helpful, thank you!!
Great video! I’m a Pickleball newbie. Been playing about once a week since July. This video really explains the fundamental shots well.
Fantastic!
I hit an ATP on 5/16/23 and didn't even know what it was called until after watching this video two days later today! Thank you ThatPickleballGuy!🤩
Had my first ATP today!!!! So stoked!!🎉🎉Thanks for all the awesome tips! Your videos are awesome!
LET"S GOOOOO!!!!! Congrats.
As a advance my game on PB I will use your game and lesson that instill in my brain to be a good player you are very good to follow.
Just started playing and a big thank you on the cornhole reference. Makes it easier to understand the concept of dinking and dropping the shot into the kitchen area.
Awesome! Glad it helped!
Thanks for all the valuable tips. I’m a couple weeks old PB player. It’s nice to be able to back up your video. Was taught so much in so little time. Thanks!! Be Blessed 🙏✨
Fantastic Sandy! Glad it helped.
Thank you. Looking forward to doing and saying.
Just found your channel. Already a fav. Thank you. As a brand new PB player that normally only has one person to play with, could you, if you have not already, do a video on single play and score keeping? Still confused on doubles too but lots of folks can help there. Thank you again for your videos. I look forward to learning and improving lots.
Great Video guys! The tips were easy to remember and I just played my first matches today...My Tennis background helps alot but this vid refers to the differences in shot formation, stance and follow-thru...I really like the energy and the humor. TY Dudes!
Awesome! Glad to hear!
I like how you present informative content in an entertaining way! I see palm trees in the background and it makes me miss California (not sure if that’s where you are located), but also better weather means more time to play pickleball 😎
All my respect to the editor, great job
Will let
Him know!
Great tips for beginners. Thank you
Great and Informative video. Thank you!
Thanks, I'm just starting out so that was great! Can't wait to try them.
Awesome!!
thank u, just starting .
Thanks for the info. I'm going to use it well. I'll post my first ATP.
Absolutely! And do it!
Thank you for the lesson
Thank you for explaining the erne. We play at the Gilbert Regional Park all the time. I had a hard time visualizing an Erne when some people were talking about it.
You’re welcome!!
I’ll be making a how and when to Erne very soon!
I didn't realize you could hop the kitchen!
Great video's man! Can't wait to implement
Thank god I found you, learning so much. Yea!
Thanks for this video! Helps so much ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, I'm 2 months in and loving it. I play with great people that give great tips but I forget half of it by the time I play again 🤷🏼♀️
Keep at it, you'll get there! Thanks for watching!
You are a great teacher. This video was informative, easy to understand, and not condescending. I have been playing about a month. I started at an indoor rec cetner court. I have also played at 2 different outdoor courts. (shout out to Key West, Fla and Troy, NC; amazed at how welcomiing and helpful these groups were). Do you have a video that addresses the differences between playing indoors and outdoors?
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips!!! Thank you 😊
Appreciated! Thanks, too!
I've been playing about 3.5 years now. I have had several ERNE's - one just last week against a good high level player. I have had several ATPs - even one off of a serve from opponent. I have also had 2 'come backers' hit ball over the net and it spins backward over the net. Thanks for your instructional videos.
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Educational and fun video.
Thank you!
Love you guys!
Thank you for the time stamps
You're Welcome!
SOOO helpful!!!👏🏻👏🏻I want that ATP!!!!👏🏻😄😃
You probably should have mentioned that during an Erne attempt you cannot touch the lines around the kitchen or go in the kitchen (unless the ball has bounced of course). I've been playing for 4 months and have a couple ATPs, but I've yet to get an Erne...
Ahh good point!! Next time i will
Erne? ATP?? I thought this video was for beginners 😂 no idea what these things are, I’ve only played five times
Yes, that Erne confused me because he jumped the kitchen line without a bounce, so he did not actually get an Erne, correct??
@@doreenmurphy1066 the ball doesn't have to bounce and usually never will on an Erne attempt. You just can't touch the kitchen or the lines with your feet while doing it or afterwards, must contact the ball on your side of the net. So it is an Erne. Hope that helps.
Ok, watched it again. Now I get it-thank you.
These are finally going to help me escape 3.5
Ehhh maybe Chris! Maybe. 😂
If this video was news to you I'm not sure you were 3.5 to begin with:)
Thanks for this vid. Shared wth my group. Not yet managed an ATP but we play on tennis courts that r also lined for PB
Awesome!!
Your first ATP is comings soon!
Great video!
Keep it up Danny!
Danny is the man!
I played Tennis in high school, but my Fiancée never really got into it. We got our first pickleball set yesterday and we both loved it! Your vids have been super helpful in learning all the basics along with some helpful tips!
That's awesome!! PIckleball is the best.
Danny 😂
Good stuff; thank you!
Glad you liked it!
great tutorial, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I am new to pickle ball...in about my 6th week or so. I feel like I'm getting wrecked so needed some advise. Thank you! I will try your shots and tips!
You got this!
Love your upbeat video, just one quick thing i haven’t even got my paddle yet 😂 tomorrow is the day, just wanted to know a little about this game, I don’t know…I hope I chose wisely 😮
Have fun!
This was an awesome lesson! It made it more fun to watch picking on poor Danny!
Danny’s my guy!! Great friend
Love the ATP and the lob!! Can't wait to try the lob next time I play! 😄
Awesome!!
The lob is definitely an underrated shot and usually thought of as a mistake. But its a great one to help you set up for a point on the following shot.
Thanks
Newbie here. I love your teaching skills. Thank you
Thanks for watching, and for the kind words :)
The tips are great and I loved the editing.
Glad you enjoyed!
Impressive info, thanks.
Glad its helpful!
Thank you! Very informative. Do you have beginners tips on the backhand?
Not a ton yet, coming soon!
You cannot talk about the dink without also talking about grip. New players grip the paddle way to strong, the dink uses a 3/10 grip tightness to ensure the ball stays low. You also didn't talk about an aimpoint for the dink...the opponents feet.
Good thoughts!
Good call 👍🏻
Awesome video. Best PB channel I’ve found. Subbed and shared
That’s awesome!! Thank you.
I love the little comedic snip its. Makes it much more entertaining than just a regular tutorial.
Awesome thank you
Thanks for watching!
Nice compact overview
We just started playing pickleball in Vietnam on Feb. 9th, 2023. I had my first ATP last Thursday March 23rd. It was so sick! The guy I played against has been playing PB in the USA for years and said I was the first person to ATP against him. He was still talking about it for hours after it happened. 🤣
That’s amazing!! Thanks for sharing!
I love your videos!!
Glad you enjoy them! Thank you for watching!
Looks like Glendale Arizona in the background 😊
Again, great tips from these guys. If I had to add,.. especially for those from tennis, ping pong,..they already know about it. It's the top spin, the slice/under spin, the side spin/ curve/tomahawk, back spin/reverse. Ya, crazy huh? Before you even think of doing this, just master the basics. Oh ya, there is also 'dead dinks, speed ups, firefight, shake n bake and hide n seek, hand signals,... Have I missed any?? Yes, 'open stance, closed stance, dominion eye stance.?
Thanks for watching!
got a new subscriber. Appreciate the breakdown, terminology, and fun you have explaining. Coming from tennis, your videos have been golden.
Thank you!! Gotta keep it fun. More videos coming weekly! Just getting started in it.
Excellent PB teacher.
thank you!
Hi Kyle. This is only the second comment I’ve left for a video in my life. You are now officially my Pickleball Guy and I’m rooting for you to go professional.
I’ve been playing for just a month or so and yours are among the first videos I’ve looked at. They are informative and fun to watch and you make me laugh as you’re teaching me. I love ‘em. You have my enthusiastic support and encouragement for making it to the professional ranks. If there’s any type of support in addition to cheering for you that we fans of yours can offer let us know.
Hey there!! Thanks for this kind message. It turns out, I made this video about a year ago (I think) and I currently play professionally :)
So glad you got into the game. It's amazing!! Enjoy
Congratulations!!
Great Tips
Glad it was helpful!
Addicted to the game. I struggle with returning hard, spinning service shots from opponents. Mostly men who love to play the crazy hard game … with very little dinking. My return tends to be too long ….
Its not as much about returning hard. Returning deep is good because whats most important is giving yourself time to get up to the kitchen after you hit the return.
Remember that the ball has to bounce in each court. The reason for that is to decrease the advantage of serving. So you can lob it back and they need to wait for it to bounce.
@@DanKaschel The 2-bounce rule right after the serve. After the second bounce you can volley it (not in the kitchen of course).
I got my first ATP 30 minutes after watching this video on 6/9/23. It was a beauty! 😋👏👌
Lets
Go!!!
Thanks for the tips Kyle! With the tall skinny palm trees in the background I am guessing you are in the East Valley in AZ!!
SOmething like that!! :)
started playing in gym and 2v2d my friends w my other friend so now i need to get better record is 1-1
Fantastic video gents
Glad you enjoyed it
Hilarious - super helpful!
Thanks for watching.
I am practicing dinking with cones and my partner and I have been so focused on hitting the cones, the ATP is "wide open". Until today. LOL
Let’s go!!
Just did my first ATP this weekend, Saturday 10 June 2023 😃😃
Lets
Go!!!
Why would you hit the 3rd shot hard/far vs. the cornhole method you spoke of? You explained the farther method reasoning. I was curious about the latter(in the kitchen).
Its good to change it up. In addition, it can apply a different pressure which is a good thing.
Awesome video!
Thanks Lili!
Great tips. My question to you is concerning the kitchen. Can you reach in to take a hall out of the air while not moving past the kitchen line? Can you run through the kitchen after running in for a volley, as your momentum brings you in after you have returned the ball? Also, I have noticed players running through the kitchen when hall on opponent’s side to reposition themselves. What are the kitchen rules regarding these three observations? TY
yes you can reach in to take a ball out of the air while not moving past the kitchen line. Can you not run into the kitchen after hitting a volley if your momentum brings you in. You can run through the kitchen to reposition, IF you weren't the one that just hit the previous ball out of the air!
Good to know the shots like you said to have the language. Have to watch again what the difference is between drop and dink. Think closer to the for dink?
Drop is hit from the baseline. Dink is the soft shot hit when you're right up close to the net.
@@thatpickleballguy thank you!
What are the rules for an ATP? Wouldn't you at least have to have it above net level or with one foot still on the court?
Nope. It just has to land in. Thats the only rule.
Same as in tennis
My date will be January 8 2023 for an ATP .. :) Great video.
Let’s go!!!
Well done…I’m confused by the Erne… as a beginner, I know I’m not going to worry about it, but I thought you were not allowed to hit a ball on the fly if you were past the kitchen line 🤔… The beginner sessions I have going to all use portable nets, so I don’t think they extend out the way the ones in this video do (I intend to check next time I play 😉)
You can jump through the kitchen as long as your feet land outside the court.
Video on that coming soon!
@@thatpickleballguy good to know. I've been told not long ago that doing that was a no go.
An atp and an erne is next level play. Next video, I'd like to see strategies to play to lead up to an erne vs an atp. All good stuff of course!! thanks! subbed and scribed, ring a ding! We need strategies to contact our town to dedicate courts to pickleball! No such thing as an atp on a tennis court. 😥
Erne and atp videos coming in the future!
Interestingly, I just saw Djokovic hit a tennis "ATP" earlier today in a video and the ref did not call it a fault/error.
The Drop and the dink look the same to me. what is the difference? For the erne, you cannot be in the kitchen but you can be close to the net if you are standing out of bounds? Can you step into the kitchen as long as you are out of it before you hit the ball?
Drop is hit from the baseline. Dink is hit near the net. You are correct. technique can be somewhat similar. and correct on the erne and correct on the last question.
So how do you chase down the lob shot?? Turn and run or back peddle??
Dont back peddle. Yes turn and run
🎉
Okay. How does he do an Ernie when you are supposed to allow the ball to bounce in the kitchen? He has to always make sure that he doesn't do it in the kitchen but off the court. Is that correct?
Great question. You don't have to let the ball bounce in the kitchen. You can take it out of the air as long as your feet are behind the kitchen line. And for the erne (and I just made a video on this coming out soon). You can jump through the kitchen. You just cant have your feet land in the kitchen! :) Does that help?
The lob from the kitchen also makes me giggle
I got my first ATP during my second ever pickleball game on 6/4/23
Let's go!
What brand paddle are you using PBG
I use Selkirk 006
It's the ATP! AKA Adenosine tri phosphate obv!
Came here to learn the backhand but apparently this is not a beginner must know shot. Instead now will be trying to ERNE every chance I get!
First atp today 🎉
Nice!!!
We wanna see Danny’s atp!!
❤
although this sport was invented in 1995 in the state of Washington, I only bumped into the videos about it with Agassi/Roddick vs. McEnroe/Chang game today...wow!...most of the public courts DO NOT have pickleball painted courts
Pickleball is blowing up!!
Actually PB was invented in 1965 by three dads as a game for their kids. YES it’s been around THAT long!
My first ATP date will be December 31st 2023. Ending the year on a high note.
Nice!
Was told my ATP shot wasn’t allowed! Crazy
That is crazy! It's absolutely legal!
its like table tennis on the court
Is James Ignatowich from Old Saybrook in Connecticut?
No, he's from Delray Beach, FL!
Atp is adenosine triphosphate
Ive noticed that when I dink my opponent returns the dink over my head to the base line...how do you handle that shot? Its hard to reset from a base line return if they keep doing that shot.
OO, that is a tough shot, try to keep your dinks as low as possible so that the lob they hit won't be able to go over your head as easily!
I see the bangers smash at the kitchen line all the time but I rarely see them lob it to a corner for a point (or dink for that matter- they just wanna smash it). This sounds like a good strategy against bangers- what do you think Kyle?
Are you using a continental grip on your drives?
Pretty much. I might shift slightly toward western.
How do you slow down the game to dinking with beginners who are just driving shots that everyone is missing? Not sure if I explained it right.
If they drive it at you (and it's going in), then block the ball down to the ground. Avoid big swings, just short punches. Now, if they move in to take that next ball and look to drive it hard again. Number 1, it's probably going out, but if it's not, then block it again. By this point they will be closer to the net and forced to dink more. If they try to hit it super hard again, its definitely going out. For more dinking to happen, you have to show you can handle their drives! And you do that by blocking the ball down into the court and force them to come in to the net.
@@thatpickleballguy Awesome. So much to learn. It's addicting.....
No ATP's yet because I played 1 time lol! But I will hit one next sunday! Sunday, May 19, 2024
Lets go!!!
@@thatpickleballguy Actually, I play pickleball at 4H and it is pretty cool! I missed the first week but by the end of the 2nd week I was at least as good, if not better than most people there! It is crazy how ATP's are allowed! It seems so illegal!
Those chemtrails in the sky 😵😵😵
What happened to punches, blocks and overheads?
