despite my hatred and fear of insects, thanks to you i developed a somewhat soft spot for mantises and while i'm not sure if i could approach an adult one, i could touch the babies with zero hesitation and perhaps i might even raise one someday. you inspire me to have some toleration for those guys lol
Well, don't put a mantis on your neck, it could chew into a blood vessel and harm you, further, don't get bit by a "kissing bug" (triatomine (reduviid) insect, which harbors the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, since the parasite will liquify your heart muscle and there's no cure (Chagas disease). Other than that, most insects (except poisonous spiders, centipedes and hornets) are often harmless.

I have entomophobia since I was a young child, as my playmates used to torture insect for fun, many many years ago. I could have a panic attack to tears if a mantis or a locusta came through my way. Now it's been 2 years or so that I follow your channel, and things are gradually changing: I started to see these creatures as wonders of nature, and I feel no more scared. Having lived in Sierra Leone as a Doctor, we often encountered BIG Praying Mantises in the evening : when they bite you it hurts a lot . Although they are not venomous the simple mechanical bite feels as if someone tries to remove some of your skin with a pair of pliers! This video has made me look at the PM in a much more favorable light as Mosquitoes are the deadliest animal (after humankind) in the world: every year they kill MILLIONS of Men, Woman and especially Children transmitting a lot of diseases (Malria, Dengue Fever, Yellow Fever,etc)

저번에 일하는 곳에 사마귀 한 마리가 사냥 자세를 하고 서있는 걸 발견해서 가만 놔뒀었는데 3일쯤 지나서 머리가 날아가버린 거에요 ㅠㅠ 근데 처음엔 몸통이 계속 그 자세 그대로이길래 머리가 없어진 줄 몰랐었는데 ㅠㅠㅠ 그렇게 하루 이틀이 지나니까 다리가 내려 앉고 또 하루 지나니 배가 바닥에 닿더니 또 하루가 지나니까 그대로 채액을 바닥에 낸 체 완전히 죽었어요..... 한동안 일하는 곳에 모기가 없었는데 그 사마귀 덕분인 것 같기도 하고ㅠ

Ever tried sticking a goldfish in a pond full of mosquito larvae? Poor little buggers don’t know where to go for safety. Their usual survival tactic is to drop down out of reach of prey, but when the danger is coming from below…. Well, the goldfish thinks it is it’s birthday. It’s the wiggle factor that does it, y’know.
