I should have watched this before I started ! I should have stuck to motor mechanics . Excellent instructions. I have a lot of spares for sale now .

Hey Mike. Great presentation. You have no idea how these four videos were indispensable for me when I disassembled and re-assembled my Unitas 6497 movement. Thanks so much. I truly appreciate it.

Greetings from the Napa Valley. What a great video. Easy to understand. I'm an amateur right now and have started learning part descriptions. I have fairly well mastered inka block service and spring capturing etc. Videos like yours are so valuable to be able to see a master and hope to attain to that level. I now have a trinocular with camera and can take pictures of disassembly and reassembly until I reach the goal of complete knowledge without that feature. Once again thanks for your taking on the task of filming for us beginners.

You are very welcome, be sure to check the other videos and keep an eye out for future content. Taking photos during disassembly and re assembly is a very common practice, I know of a watchmaker who is nearly 90yrs old who still does this with a 35mm camera for watches he does not know. Everything comes in time :)

My Victorinox has this movement. I recently had it serviced and had only an idea of the complexity until I watched this video.

do you keep the stem, setting lever cover plate, minute wheel, setting wheels, yoke spring, yoke and two setting wheels together, and the setting lever, clutch wheel and winding pinion separate?

Hi, thanks for the videos, i want to say that these videos are most useful, helpful about watch repair on the entire youtube.
Sir, it would be so great if you do a video on mainspring barrel cleaning disassembly and putting it back. Also we need oiling tutorial
btw how to clean the pallet fork?
    please do it for us)

Thanks Mike, I hope to be that good and that fast someday. What size of screw drivers is the best to purchase for working on small watches? I recently purchased cheap non working from eBay and I have taught myself a lot.

Are all common pinions pressure fitted in place? I have an MST 520 Roamer and when I was inspecting it the cannon pinion slipped off when I tilted the movement on its side. Funny thing was the hands were working prior to this happening.

Most cannon pinions are friction fitted but not all, for example Eta modern movements use a pinion that slides over a centre tube but the cannon pinion itself has a friction wheel , this is a better solution that traditional cannon pinions.
I can not recall off the top of my head what type the Cal 520 uses but if it fell off it likely either needs tightening or replacing, a loose cannon pinion will exhibit timing irregularities despite a timegrapher reading. If the 520 is traditional then the CP will have indents which are supposed to secure it firmly to the centre wheel, these can be tightened in most cases but sometimes need replacing.

Great video. I am slowly accumulating all of the tools and accessories needed to service watches. I know in this video series you skip over the cleaning process but I was wondering if a parts cleaning machine is needed or will an ultrasound be sufficient to start off with to get all of the parts cleaned up?

Hello Kevin, it would be good to start with just a tray and a little brush , but the parts need to be soaked for a bit longer time

If your gonna spend a lot of money on anything get quality screwdrivers and a nice pair of tweezers. The rest you can buy budget brands. Cheap screwdrivers suck.
