These are great Marisa. I will be making these this winter. As much as I love the natural & burlap colors, is it possible to add an organic color to the product for Christmas gifts? If so which food grade color would you use?
Thanks! They will make beautiful gifts. I haven't experimented with color for these yet, but I would try a natural food color, like this one: (affiliate link) amzn.to/3kqoW15 Let me know how it works!
Hi Marisa, I just ordered the tallow from your link. Does it a smell? I like to make my products unscented. And thank you so much for all your tutorials. You are a great teacher!
Thank you! The unscented has no essential oils added. I use a very gentle rendering process that leaves the tallow with pretty much no smell. Some noses are more sensitive than others, but most people agree with this description :)
Question: I made this last night. They're a little more "waxy" than I like. I made them with the recipe exactly. What can I add to them to make them more like lotion and spread more evenly and not be so "waxy"?
Can you please let me know what I can sub out for coconut oil. I’m sure the smell is amazing but I don’t use it in my soaps so I really don’t want to use it in a leave on either. Thanks!
You ever try tallow in a shampoo or shampoo bar? Conditioner? Oh man I bet tallow would be so nice for hair and skin. Edit I just realized you do have videos on shampoo 😬

You're welcome! Enjoy :)
Love your channel. Your instructions are so easy and the products you suggest are so nice.
Thank you so much! Thank you for your support (:

Which shea butter do you use. Refined or unrefined? Is it ok to skip shea butter?
Marisa, would this lotion also work for the complexion? Thank you so much for the recipe.
Great question! It would probably work okay, but I prefer tallow balm for my face :)
Wonderful! Can’t wait to make!
Enjoy!
So good
What a neat idea!!
Amazing! I will have to try and make!
Enjoy!
That looks cool lotion bar! More blessings pa po sa channel mo kapatid
Thank you! How long can this be stored, and should it be stored in the fridge/freezer/room temperature?
Yes, i would say room temperature for 6-12 months :)
Thanks for the video.. I'm gonna try to making the dog paw, nose balm.. is it possible use only tallow and beeswax?
You're welcome! I think only tallow and beeswax would be pretty stiff, you may need some liquid oil as well :)
As an idea can you make a video on how to make scented tallow candles?
Great idea! Thank you, I'll do that!
What’s the beeswax for? Like do you have to have that
Alternative to bees wax?
Is this tallow you have rendered and purified or unrendered? Thanks so much. Your videos are great.
This is rendered and purified! :)
Question: I made this last night. They're a little more "waxy" than I like. I made them with the recipe exactly. What can I add to them to make them more like lotion and spread more evenly and not be so "waxy"?
You might add less beeswax
Is there a reason why you didn't use a slow cooker like you did for soap and shampoo?
Stove top is faster if all I'm doing is melting :) The crockpot is handy for mixing soap, but not necessary here.
How long will the lotion bar keep?
Since it doesn't contain water, it's very shelf stable. It should last 6 months to a year or more.
Had to come back and ask- i don't have shea butter handy, but do have food grade cocoa butter - would this be a good substitute?
Cocoa butter is a little stiffer than shea butter, but in this recipe it should work fine to substitute them :)
Can you please let me know what I can sub out for coconut oil. I’m sure the smell is amazing but I don’t use it in my soaps so I really don’t want to use it in a leave on either. Thanks!
You could increase the shea butter or tallow :)
Hello 👋 please Can I use angus fat as my tallow should it be having the same values as tallow.
Yes! Angus is wonderful beef tallow. Just render it first: ruclips.net/video/M4UiZe4mjmg/видео.html
Hi Marisa. Great video! Can I use coconut oil instead of olive oil in the tallow lotion bars?
Thanks! Yes you can, it might change the hardness a bit since coconut oil is more solid at room temp. But it should still be nice, I think!
Thank you.
You ever try tallow in a shampoo or shampoo bar? Conditioner? Oh man I bet tallow would be so nice for hair and skin. Edit I just realized you do have videos on shampoo 😬
Yes! I have a tallow shampoo bar that I absolutely love: ruclips.net/video/XTX5Bza6U-0/видео.html
Can I use lard in this recipe? Thanks
Yes you can! Tallow has better skin benefits, but lard would also work.
can I use Cinnamon essential oil in this recipe?
Yes, you can :)
Is all lye water the same? I found a brand from china. Does it matter? take care
I think it should be okay, I use Red Crown lye for soap making.
Can I substitute tallow with vegetable fat. Can you suggest something
Shea butter or cocoa butter will work as a substitute :)
@@bumblebeeapothecary thank you
Hello 👋 please can I use angus fat as my tallow.
Absolutely! Just render it into tallow first :) I show how to do it here: ruclips.net/video/M4UiZe4mjmg/видео.html
coconut oil makes me itch, what can I substitute with ?
You could just increase the tallow :)
Babassu oil is a perfect substitute. My daughter is allergic to C.O. too and Babassu is great.
Have you ever made glycerin from animal fat?
I haven't, but that sounds like a great thing to try!
