    Hey guys! I am curious. How do you feel about using the airbrush? If you don't use ( and maybe don't want to use ) an airbrush, why not?

    • @Chris-bd6ll
      @Chris-bd6ll Год назад +2

      Would love to use one but haven’t taken the plunge yet. I will be trying the technique in the early stages though of getting the highlights on thicker and more pronounced. I’ll have to glaze the blend but that’s still less time consuming then glazing up the whole highlight and blending. Working on a Guijia now.

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад

      Yep, absolutely. I was using glazing back when I did my Guija (the video is also here on the channel) I was using glazing from the beginning and it took me way longer than the Cutters. Even without the airbrush I could probably do it way faster now using thicker layers overall.
      That being said, the airbrush is a game changer for me. If you have the chance, I can only recommend giving it a go. Good luck with the Guija, it is still one of my favorite infinity models :)

      @@ph3lansminiatures I’ll continue the grind of using a brush for now but seeing the utility really makes it a must. I appreciate your videos, their really good.

      Have see Sergio Calvo's airbrush grazing technique, but have not tried to do this as yet. Only use airbrush for priming and base coats atm.

      Kind of new to airbrush, so I have a question - why use both regular brush and airbush for glazes, why not just do several layers with airbrush for the blue surface, than paint black over it for the darker parts of the mini?

    What I always really enjoy about your vids is your introspection. Feels more like a conversation with a mate than being told "this is the way you should do it" about every technique. It's those moments when you are figuring out aloud what you would do next time that I learn most about my own process.
    So thank you for continuing to put out content that you care about instead of chasing the algo

      Thank you 😊 It really means a lot, reading comments like this! This is my preferred 'style' and what comes naturally to me, so I'll try to stick to it even if the channel gets bigger (🤞).

    Excellent work! I love how you made the mini part of it's environment with the complimentary color instead of just slapping some red on the clipper's armor. I am all about some red and blue mechs, though! Lol

      More infinity is definitely in the works. I'll have something super simple next, but after that I have something really cool I think that looks just as good as this ot better 😊

      I love using Angel Giraldez's methods as well, but I have to admit that Sergio Calvo has converted me lately :D I am still in the process of figuring it out fully ( and will be for a while I guess :D ), but I think my models turn out better since I started following his "teachings" and I am having more fun painting them!

    Nice video! I really like your results in Infinity minis!
    I like using airbrush, but don't have a dedicated space for it, so I need to set it all up each time I'm using it. It's also setup in the kitchen so there is also that... When I finally move to an apartment with an extra room I'll be finally able to spent more time airbrushing.

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад +1

      That's a good point, it needs a bit of space for sure. I am struggling a bit with this myself, since now I would like to show what I do on camera with it. In some of the next videos you will see better footage with it since now I managed to put together a setup where I can either do some priming/basecoating close to a window in the room, or do detail work at my usual painting desk where the permanent camera setup is.

    Keep on the good work, love the vids, love the variety, especially Infinity! Will we see some non studio schemed Armys in the fututre?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад +2

      Thanks, I really appreciate it :) That is an interesting question that I have been thinking about lately. Are people interested in painting like the box art, or do they like more non standard schemes?
      Personally, I always preferred to paint my units/armies in a 'lore accurate' way, because in my head that is how they supposed to look 😀 But I can definitely paint a couple of unique schemes for fun if people are interested in them.

    • @BloodyJMF
      @BloodyJMF Год назад

      @@ph3lansminiatures I'm kinda torn myself. Infinity is such a small and lore centered game, but even Corvus Belli has heavily encouraged the "a winning army is an adapting army" concept.
      Painted my Nomads in a green/beige/orange and I love it. Still undecided on my PanO, really dig the studio colors.
      So far I would say I met 70% personal schemes and there where some really creative colors I wound never have thought about combining. Besides it is always fun listening to someone's thoughts about their color and environment choice for their force, doesn't need to be a full blown background story to be able to see them with the owners eyes.

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад

      That makes sense :D I guess it also depends on what your 'purpose' is for the army. Are you painting for the table top or for your display case, for example. I suppose if it is the former, it is more interesting to have a unique scheme that is different from anybody else's. But if you are like me, and you mostly just want to paint and look at them in your case then you might be more inclined to go with the standard scheme, since you want them to look like how they are 'supposed to'. I will have to try it sometime to paint something non-standard and see how I like it. ( believe it or not, I never tried before :P)

    Painting looks fantastic but I have a question how did you do the base?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад

      I used the same NMM as on the model for the pipes but didn't go as bright with them. The 'grating' type thing is mahagony with some brighter highlights, and the crate is camouflage green with some basic edge highlights. Then I airbrushed the OSL into the middle, coming from the 'reactor' with some saturated reds ( like baal red contrast) and fluorescent red making sure that it catches everything nearby, but less and less as it gets farther away from the center.

    Beautiful end result 👍 I was looking for a alternative colour scheme for my Combined Army that isn’t black & red. I looked at Cell Shading idea’s & stumbled on this video. I don’t have an airbrush - preferring the Old Fashioned way of painting by hand 🤪 Also, what base did you use???

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад +1

      Glad you liked it :) The base is one of the official Infinity bases you can buy in packs, I just spiced it upna bit with a glow effect. As for the Combined Army color scheme, I'll have a video with an alternative one next week for the new Cascuda model. The main colors will be orange/ocher and purple. Maybe check back next Thursday if you are interested 😉
