In may she was diagnosed with melisma recurrence and by November she was gone. She was only discovered in 2001 when the BBC played this song and it was a tsunami, they released albums with her studio recordings and it topped the charts there. There are so many good covers, she recreated completely classics in her very own way, and she excelled in different genres. She insisted on covering a variety of genres and because of that she failed to get a recording contract. They wanted her to choose one or the other for recording purposes. Thankfully a couple of these recordings made it to England and became a smash hit there about two years after she passed. Since then she has been reacted to multiple times and deserves all the accolades she receives for them.
