    Thanks for posting this. I had a service person out because a couple of vent didn't have any air coming out. He told me my blower was too small and I needed a whole new system. He never went into the attic to check the ducts! I got him out of my house then went to the attic to discover 4 ducts had disconnected. Thank goodness I didn't just accept what that guy said.

    That’s how you save a $500 repair bill from a shady HVAC company. Good job and I too hate crawl spaces. Nothing good is ever down there.

    Are you experienced in HVAC duct work? One of my rooms is warm and the vent not letting air out. Is that the most common cause of this ? It’s not the dampener on / off switch? I tried it both ways but it made no difference. Same weak air coming out.

    It came loose because ducts are the one place you never use duct tape. It turns brittle and the adhesive fails. I spent a loooong time down in mine slapping foil tape and mastic over everything down there.

    • @FixThisHouse
      @FixThisHouse  2 года назад +1

      I agree 💯! 👍🏽😊 I don’t know what the contractor was thinking using duct tape, all of it was brittle like you said and crusted out. Thank you for sharing your experience!

    It is a ventilation duct, so duct tape kind of makes sense

    If you can afford a new run and easy to get to would be a good thing since mice/ critter droppings have major bacteria in them.it should be removed and at least disinfected at minimum. People have different immune systems and nobody should be smelling that crap (pun intended). That 6 inch line is way too big for that size vent in my state and for most anywhere for the correct amount of air to flow properly. Just FYI. You did what you should have done for your buddy and that's a good thing just pointing out some issues that could be bad. There are calculations for all of these vent sizes and duct sizes. It could be correct but that's probably what they had beside them and didn't want to get a 4" duct. Typical contractors.

    • @FixThisHouse
      @FixThisHouse  2 года назад +2

      I will definitely look into the vent sizes thanks for bringing that up! 👍🏽 that is a good point about the disinfecting part. On my house I have 4” tubes running but again like what you said it all depends on airflow how much air your system pushes out. Thank you friend for the advice and tips! 🙏🏽😊

      @@FixThisHouse It's all in much love and no criticizing like I have seen some people do which makes no sense. I've been mold certified along with many others and I've very well aware of animal feces and the problems it can bring. I'm also an HVAC certified GC and it seems to be too large but people design things different. Usually a 6 inch could be too large for that under the counter register but either way you did a good job and did it right with that was there and offered good advise. I like your channel as I've become a subscriber in the last week or so. Keep up the good work and be proud of your work. I am and non of us know everything but learn all the time. Cheers to you and I hope you have a great holiday my friend.

    America build houses stupid on purpose. So its hard to get to things and see what the problems could be. Force you to bust through walls they charge a lot to fix before u find out what the damn problem could be 😂
