'Open season for criminals' Douglas Ross & Humza Yousaf clash over police not investigating crimes

- At FMQs today Douglas Ross questioned Humza Yousaf about police officers being told not to investigate certain crimes in the North East of Scotland.
In a bid to save cash, officers in north-east Scotland will only probe more serious offences.
Mr Ross said: 'First Minister this is a direct consequence of SNP funding cuts. Officers don't have resources to do their jobs. People who report crimes will be told tough luck, and it's open season for criminals under the SNP'.

Watched a kid on a quad overtake me on east main street rutherglen no helmet no registration,continued overtaking other cars on the wrong side of the road till he got to mcallum avenue where a patrol car came out with a wpc in it, totally ignored the quad and preceeded up to the station.wait till they knock down a child.
There are lower recorded crime rates in Scotland because people don't bother reporting crime as they know nothing gets done about it.

Who are we kidding? The police have been doing this already. We had an aggressive gardener who was targeting the vulnerable and elderly by convincing them to do work that wasnt required then demanding money. I caught the guy in the act and threats against me were made. The police did nothing and used the phrase "record this as intelligence", in other words do sod all about it. I reckon we will see the public deal with criminals themselves if the police wont act.
Probably just given up reporting crimes as nothing gets done, how many of the low number or reported crimes are solved and convictions made

Its actually recorded crime using a 1993 Sony Walkman to record the sounds made during the crime on a special Police issue C60 tape.

Nobody seemed to listen to the initial response given by the first minister which was a direct quote from the Police in the pilot area. If, as DRoss suggests, all crime should be investigated then the police would be wasting valuable time completing paperwork and carrying out fruitless activities for no outcome. This is called "triaging" or prioritising resources where best results can be obtained. There are no cuts, funding has increased as well as individual officers pay. And which part of "pilot" doesn't the Conservative leader understand!

A) The Police are an Independent body and B) It comes as no surprise the Pilot scheme was conducted in areas conducive to the outcome. The Grampian division of Police Scotland aren't just notorious for doing absolutely nothing, they are the worst division of any force in Britain. O&G has made them fat, lazy, complacent and utterly useless. They are the worst division for the protection of Women, and are too thick to realise the difference between a victim and a perpetrator.

I just passed yet another old person out there with a stick getting into the drivers seat of a lovely 2017 4*4 car.
Someone else who looks like they could never dream of paying for something like this in the good old days.
My uncle for example went 'on the sick' and has been for the last 40 years, and he drives around in a nicer car than me.
I just had to scrape some money together to pay for a car nearly 10 years old this weekend!

When I was a kid, it was the local Police that conducted Cycling Proficiency training at school…it let the kids get to know they’re local Police……and possibly the Police get to know the kids??…….,Now training is conducted but some council employee??

It is also a proven fact, that when so-called low level crimes, aren't investigated, they escalate simply because the person think and can, get away with more and more. It's like a piggy bank, solve the low level crimes , put teams in place to take care of the major ones, invest in intelligence, cyber crime is currently considered low level by Police Scotland because they lack the ability, 14 year old hackers run rings around them, solve the theft of farming equipment, that's someone's livelihood, solve junkie burglaries, that can lead on to the supplier, solve the drug gangs, County Lines, ports, harbours, airports drug supply and a lot of the considered lower level crime would diminish, stop solving them and watch our society break down to the point of no return, and the rise of citizen vigilante groups. This is a completely useless idea from Police Scotland and Hamza should wade in. As he actually hasn't yet done anything for Scotland, he could ask Police Scotland to reconsider. Bearing in mind, he'll also have to swallow just how much the Police are called out to what amounts to mental health issues, which is his remit and not that of the Police.

The snp have run the police service of this country into the ground for years, as have the Government in Westminster on a UK level, but let’s stick with Scotland. Going from 8 separate Force’s into one National Force was a disaster and cost cutting exercise only. Budget cut after budget cut, which is getting smashed next financial year, bringing in a new Chief Constable who takes woke and non Policing to a new level, from one of the smallest Forces in the UK. Record number of new Police Officers leaving within the first few years, crime solvency at a low and that’s with the figures Police Scotland publish. About 1,000 Officers retired from Police Scotland last year, as they were offered full pension and only 10 grand off the lump sum. The offer was far too good if you were over 50 and accrued 25 year’s pensionable service. Officers with a few years still to serve, grabbing the offer and running for the door. Scotland has the Police Service snp politicians want; Usless, Krankie and a Justice Secretary in Constance who takes incompetence to a different level and would allegedly defund the entire Police Service of Scotland. Who says crime does not pay 💰 I know who are laughing all the way to the Bank and they don’t even need a get away car and a great fence (criminal) down near Holyrood Palace.
