You make it look so easy! I just got my subscription box with three Bob Gordon cuttings and I’m super excited. I just have to decide where to put them! This will be the first thing planted at our new homestead. 🥰
Just planted some of your rootings that you just sent me. Hopefully they take. I had a huge blueberry harvest this yr for the first time since I planted 3 yrs ago. I learned about you thru Doug and Stacey. Thank you
Saw you today on Off Grid with Doug and Stacy. Wow! Didn't know anything about all those potatoes. Very convincing demonstration, you made it seem so easy and necessary to be more self-sufficient. Then putting elderberry around the chicken coop. I only have a balcony to grow things. Can't say I have a green thumb. However since you say can be grown in buckets, I am going to brave it and do my best. I will be ordering the elderberry cuttings. Thank you for sharing. I also subscribed as it appears I need to learn about growing thing.
My sister and I went to your presentation some years ago at the Mother Earth News festival. I have ordered cuttings two years back and have them growing in pots since I am in the process of moving to a new homestead. I hope you check this occasionally since some of the questions were very good and I wanted to see the answers. Thank you for doing this video. I would love to see more.
I just bought some cuttings off of fb market place and I am so excited to plant these! I was also sold Wyldwood cuttings, the seller said this helps pollination. Ill have to look that up. Thank you for this great info!!
Hi ~ Thank you for these teaching videos :-) I'm curious about the 2nd method of planting. In the video all you said was you planted a cover crop. Can you please explain why and what you planted? Thanks! Nita
Terry, I remember from watching you with Doug and Stacy how to plant the elderberry. I just cut them at the markings you showed her and I just stick them in the ground. Here in Pennsylvania they just shoot up and grow nice and big. The only problem I have is I have some sneaky pest eating my green, unripened berries this year. I saw a green aphid on a small plant that is a ways away from the bigger plants. Interesting too is I have a male and a female plant. The female is not having any problems with having her berries eaten. What can I do or how do i go about ridding the bushes of possible pests, i.e, aphids?
I live in North central arkansas near mt home. I have been wanting to grow Elderberries on our farm for years. I just ordered the Gordon variety. The only problem is we have sandy loam soil. Which I understand is not an ideal environment. I do have a elderberry bush that has been growing on our farm for over 20 years. I did not plant it nor did the previous owners. Its likely a wild variety. It is massive. It has never been pruned. It is now leafing out. Is it to late to make cuttings from it and transplate? We currently run cattle on the farm so I have access to all the aged manure I need for fertilizer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Just watched your video on planting Elderberry sticks. I do have a young elderberry that birds planted into a container of soil in my garden. It's not tall, maybe 3 ft. Thin branches. I'm wondering if i cut it back for winter and plant those sticks now (late Oct, FL panhandle, sandy soil) WILL THOSE SMALL STICKS GROW? tks
I am so hoping you can help me. I’m in zone 6 i believe (KY) and I have an elderberry cutting that I’ve been growing inside. It was growing beautifully, I put it outside (still in a large pot) and as soon as I did it’s leaves started drooping and she’s looking not so good. Do you have any idea what might be the problem. I have it in the sunniest spot I have so I’m at a loss.
I live in Mexico, Mo. Is it okay to Prune elderberry now and make cuttings, and then plant them right away. I only have 1 John's and 1 Adam's elderberry plants. They are two years old this year. I've never pruned them yet. I really dont know when to prune or plant the cuttings. I found you through Doug and Stacy off grid. I've purchased some of your elderberry products at Hickory Ridge orchard in Mexico, Mo. My husband and I take it every morning with breakfast and we neither one have been sick since we started taking it a little over a year ago. We usually get colds and flu several times each year. Thank you for your good products. I look forward to hearing back from you, Sir.
Today is 1/7/23. Unusually snow free in NY. Moving in a few weeks to MO. Wondering what my best option is to get cuttings from my established elder bushes? Not sure when I’ll be able to plant after cutting. Do I cut the whole plant down and keep it in a large trash bag or better to cut into pieces and store in sand or moss or peat?
Hi! Just cut into sections with two sets of opposite buds . Store in plastic ziplock with a little damp peat moss. They keep for weeks in the refrigerator
I ordered several different varieties from a farm in Oregon, we are in Tennessee. Mine are already beginning to have leaves, should I remove the leaves or keep them planted in the greenhouse until spring?
I am wanting to plant the cultivors I purchaced from you on an acre of land that has a ton of wild elderberry on it. How can I get rid of the wild stuff? Any ideas?
Hello. My name is Alex. I'm from Ukraine. Is it possible to order planting material (black elderberry cuttings) of your VARIETIES from you? Shipping by DHL...
HELP!! I am new to the Elderberry world and I want to start growing it! I have been purchasing dried elderberries at my local health food store and making my own syrup, but I want to start growing and harvesting my own. I KNOW it is important to use only American and not European. CAN SOMEONE please...tell me which of these species I should order. The choices from Stark Bros is: Adams, Johns, Nova, Ranch or York....I DON'T KNOW WHAT SPECIES I SHOULD ORDER???
Contact the company that put this video out direct, they are a professional farmers and sell/ship elderberry cuttings…they will set you up with the right stuff the first time and save a lot of grief. I purchased and planted two plants before I knew about this place and was a big mistake. One was a Bob Gordon and I was told the other was the pollinator I needed. In short the online nursery I bought from didn’t know much about these plants evidently and I ended up with two bushes that blossomed weeks apart. I removed the “ pollinator “ and will propagate a cutting from the Bob Gordon and plant that for two of that variety.
My order isn't moving. It arrived at the Columbia, MO Distribution Center on Jan 20, and is listed as "In Transit To Next Facility, Arriving Late". USPS is the worst shipping method ever.

Where do I buy some cuttings
should you propagate them first then wait till spring or can you plant cuttings in the fall ?

Also, at what age does an elderberry tree start producing berries. And, does it need a male tree partner. Tks.

Do you ship cuttings to Canada?
Can you plant elderberry cuts in a container I got Pocahontas and bob Gordon I am N.C. Zone 7
Will they grew in manitoba
Are the wild elderberry in Missouri American elderberry? Do the American elderberry have distinctive characteristics?
