I have seen at least one gymnast who has the dancer body type who will bring back some of the more aesthetic elements of gymnastics. Here’s to hoping for more dance, transition fluidity, and feeling! 🥂
@@yuiop6611 I also noticed that the artistry in women's gymnastics started to decline after 1996, which is when they got rid of compulsories. I think that could be an additional factor.
Yeh Olga the dark hair gymnast she also did some routines that they commentators said she did not dance well. Then later she does peer gynt music hall of the mountain king i think.
@@amrose4214 I believe you are thinking of Natalia Laschenova. She used Hall of the Mountain King in 1989 for her floor routine. She was great too. Her double tucks were always very cowboyed. But she was still amazing.
@@rodrigoalberto4171 I sure hope that's not what she meant. Svetlana was only 16 at the time. Nobody should have been thinking about her in terms of sensuality. I think she meant the dance style was not the classical ballet based and was more modern.
Svetlana is a beautiful and elegant gymnast .! This was a fantastic routine ! A brilliant performance .... with impeccable techniques! It is truly Artistry in motion!
Yes, this was a great routine in it's era. Biles has done great routines in her era. Please stop comparing an orange from 30 years ago to an apple from a year ago. 😮💨🍊🚫🍎
So were the Romanians from 1993 onwards but they kept winning gold medals with European fans celebrating them on. They didn’t even really push the tech side either as they code whored their way through safe routines beating gymnasts who were taking risks and pushing difficulty. At least Simone has the latter. Without Simone, WAG would be nothing but broken gymnasts who can’t even perform consistently for the most part.
What I do like about this last event is the judges really saw the passion and emotion in both Silivas and Bonskiyas routine and let them win, even though they may been a little bit weaker.they rewarded the expression.
Simone Biles, this is what a top class floor routine looks like! Perfect technique, flowing moves, brilliantly executed! The best women's floor routine ever!
No, really? And here I thought the "1989" in the title of the video was referring to something else. My post from two days ago was in response to BrooklynGames squared who was talking about Simone generally, so I was talking about Boginskaya more generally. I don't criticize Boginskaya's 1989 FX because she actually danced in that one.
Yeh its interesting to watch and uncomfortable movements too almost sexy she got a 10 on this. The tumbling runs were perfectly landed into the lunge pose so how could not. Yeh look on her face when she starts is like i am gonna serve up this routine no matter what to the judges yeh the part where she gets down on the floor its like basically a crotch shot to the judges sitting there with stoic faces lol hilarouis. The end pose is like ok i just served this routine to you guys take that perfection. Lol
Just to clarify your point Cathy didn't say that this routine was the one she used in the European Championships. She merely compared it to the one that Svetlana has performed at Europeans that year. Which by-the-way was also avant garde.
She {Svetlana} is both POWERFUL and ELEGANT ! Elegance is missing in today’s gymnastics. One of my favorite gymnast of all times. The other is of course, ........ Nadia !
Masterpiece in every sense of the word. RIP artistry in gymnastics
Artistry left shortly after the USSR broke up. I would say in 1996.

@@yuiop6611 it stlll exists. you just have to look a lot harder and squint a little bit 🤣

The best female gymnast in history
If the judges thought this was too avant garde, their heads must have exploded when Olga Strazehva took the floor.
LMAO too funny

Avant garde in terms of showing sensuality in the choreography, not in terms of tumbling.

The most iconic floor routine ever. Power and super elegance. Simone Biles represents the funeral of gymnastics.
You're being generous. Gymnastics died a long time before Biles showed up.

The one and only Goddess of Gymnastics.
The one and only
This is just original and beautiful. Great music too.
Fiesta by Rafaella Carrá 💗
Simone is indeed powerful. But what’s missing in her routine is elegance ... and possibly artistry.

This is the last generation of artistry gymnastics.
Simone Biles, this is what a top class floor routine looks like! Perfect technique, flowing moves, brilliantly executed! The best women's floor routine ever!
Yeah, if only she posed around on two feet doing nothing for ten seconds at a time on FX or flat-footed her way through beam like Boginskaya in 1991.
This was 1989....

Lmao, Svetlana does not pose. All of her routines are artistry max, Simones is like a 2/10 for dance.
Totally agree. Avant garde... yes.. and it makes it utterly original
A Woman among Girls and so beautiful and graceful that she dominated for a decade!
Fantastic!
No one can match her form and artistry. Only some of her Soviet teammates come remotely close.
Uma Ginasta Espetacular!
Cathy dear, Boguinskaia didn't do this routine at 1989 Europeans--she still had Carmen. (Although that routine was not any less avant-garde lol)
The best🎉
avant garde? uhm indeed so. You do not see this ever.
Her teammate Strazheva was even more avant-garde.
She does her dance very well. I'll give her that--even if I don't like it.

Ms. Boginskaya is now 49 years old--I wonder if she is suffering arthritis/joint pain from all the competitions/practise she did over the years?
ボギンスカヤさんの床運動の演技は女性らしい動き女性らしさ華麗さ美しさダイナミックさが醸し出されていて大変素晴らしい演技ですね!
RIP GLORIA CARRA , Y ACA UNA.DE LAS GRANDES GIMNASTA BAILANDO LA. MUSICA DE UNA GRANDE.
Actually Cathy is wrong, this routine was not the one she used in the Europeans, so this was debuted at worlds,

Pretty sure Silivas finished 14th
Food Culture I thinks she was 12th because she fell off beam in the final rotation
incredible overscored
how?
damn what a boss. goddess 🔥🧡
