- Hey everyone, this is a full review of the Verizon Gizmo Watch Disney edition.
This watch is perfect for kids not yet old enough for a phone, but can handle a little bit of extra responsibility. This is really a great smartwatch for kids, and really gives both the kids and parents a bit of peace of mind when families find themselves apart.

I called Verizon today and ordered two since they are having a sale. I’m super excited to show them their new watches. Thank you for the making the video. I wasn’t even aware Verizon made a watch like this one.

@@yr3861 I honestly haven't considered screen protectors so I haven't really looked. It's been about 3 months now and the screens don't seem scratched at all. I'll have to look and see if I can find some.
Just a fyi You should turn on silent mode in the app and turn the hours off during the official school hours to prevent the little one from using it during school. Ex: 8am to 3pm Mon thru Fri. Set it once and never worry. My son has had it for years with no issues.

Is that you don't have to be on the home screen to see the time 🙌

I especially gained insight from the comment about the 6 year old not being able to maintain focus enough to get through the school day without messing with it. I have a six year old and I am thinking i may need to wait on this for her.

You don’t have to wait there is a feature that you can add that prevents your child from messing with the Watch in school hours the Apple Watch also has this feature so for ex you can put the feature so they can mess with the Watch through 8:20-3:45 I don’t know about the gizmo but the Apple Watch has one feature where your child can only turn off the feature temporarily which is help full if your child needs to text message you

Thank you for the comment. To answer your question, it is not waterproof, but it does have that IP67 rating that allows for it to be wet and submerged 3 meters for no more than 30 minutes. That being said, I don't let my kids swim with it on just to be safe.
Have a 7 year old asking for a cellphone I'm like nope I was looking into this because she's the oldest and you've sold me ! Darn it I guess this is what it is for Christmas birthday for this Christmas baby girl lol 😆
I'm glad the video was helpful! I think the watch is a great way to test the waters before moving up to a phone. I'm going to do a follow up video next week talking about everything I've learned from having 2 of these watches for almost 6 months now and it is mostly good things to say!

can you recommend where to buy a protector case?
What about the GPS, can you track them live?
You can do a live track but I will say you can literally watch the battery go down if you use that feature.

Thank you Nick! So beyond paying for the device itself, I paid a 35 dollar activation fee, and then I pay 10 dollars a month for the additional phone line the watch needs to be on.

You will have to have a phone line because the watch will have its own phone number and must be activated to a line just like a phone. Thanks for watching!
Is there any way to change the screen saver to an image that is NOT Disney? I’d like to get one for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas, but she considers herself “too old” for Disney now.
That might be possible on some of the other Gizmo watches but on the Disney edition you can only have the Disney characters, but that includes Star Wars too.

How do you like the gps tracking feature? Does it work well?
Hi Jake! I do like the tracking feature. It is one of the main reasons that I bought the watch. It does work well. My only complaints would be that it can be a little laggy when updating and also if you turn on "real time" tracking it will such the battery down about 2% per minute!
Can you locate them where they at if they don't call you and is it good for a 13
Yes you can locate the watch at all times while it is turned on using the app, as long as the watch has a good signal. My kids are 7 and 9 but I really just think you have to decide if the 13 year old would want it or not. If they do, than I think it would be great.
can you switch out the charachter after the initial pick?
Great question John. Yes absolutely. In fact, with each update more new characters are always available. Both my kids just switched to Boba Fett this week.
Video call does it have?
Yes that was an update made a few months after I purchased in April 2021.

And I also used to have the Disney edition but it stopped working because it didn’t charge, I now have the gizmo watch 2 I don’t really like the Disney one cause it’s sorta boring with the watch band color

How do you pay for the service? Does it just connect to the parents service?
You end up adding another line to your phone plan and everything is just on one service.
@@thevetdad6383 oh man! So you have to add a new line per watch?
Unfortunately yes. I ended up adding 2 additional lines, but they don't run as much as say a regular phone line does. It just depends on what deals Verizon is running at the time.

Hi Rachel, unfortunately I have not found a screen protector for the Disney Edition specifically, but after 2 months of pretty heavy use the screens don't really have any signs of scratching so crossing my fingers!
Same here. Can't find a screen protector for it. I also can't find any information on the screen and how durable it is or what material it is made of. We just got ours but hoping the screen is tough enough.
I am still looking for a dang protector for the screen. Seems like there are a few bands though
Hey guys ! I too couldn’t find a screen protector so I bought a cut-to-fit screen protector from Amazon and cut it down to the size of the watch. It took a minute to get it to the right fit but it’s something. & I have a whole lot of left over if I need to make more in the future.
Curious!! Can you make video calls ?
It can not make video calls. The kids can send picture messages but no video capability.
Can you gps the watch from the app ?
You can see the current location of the watch from the app. It can be refreshed every few minutes. There is a live track feature for more real time tracking but it will take the battery down very quickly if you use that feature.
Can you turn on this gizmo from the app if it gets turned off?
You can turn it off but you are not able to turn it on.
Can we make a password on it
There isn't a way to make a password on the device itself, but you can put in a code for when you open the app, just in case someone gets a hold of your phone.
I was at Verizon yesterday and it's a $100 difference between the Gizmo and Disney Gizmo watch 🤔
I saw that too and I went with the Disney Edition because it has a camera and a few other features such as how the characters interact on the various screens.

Is it waterproof?
It's IPX7 rated which basically means it can be underwater for 30 mins but I don'tet my kids swim with theirs just to be safe.
Does it support video calling with the camera?
No video calling but they can do video messages.

It looks slow as seeing it
Maybe just how it came across in the video? Even after 2 years they still seem pretty snappy to me, albeit not as fast as a cell phone screen.
Does it have a feature to FaceTime call?
Unfortunately they can't do video calls but they can send and recieve picture messages.

I never noticed that before. I just checked and your right, but I don't think the watch will allow any incoming notifications when in school mode and they can't access anything.

I wanna talk to my girlfriend on the video chat how long does the battery last while using that ?
It limits video calls to just a few minutes at a time and I'm sure it uses more battery but we don't make enough video calls to really see a difference.
