When John added Lisa Germano (fiddle) to his band, I believe it added a whole new dynamic. THE LONESOME JUBILEE was released 36 yrs ago this August (2023). 36 yrs and Lisa remains an excellent and beautiful fiddle player.
John and his music have had a great influence on so many of us ,it really meant a lot and still does. It's not easy getting old and looking back his songs always hit home. Thanks for the music John😊
@@Fred-ld5oq The lady you are referring to is Miriam Sturm. She played fiddle for Mellencamp after Lisa Germano left. Now, Lisa is back touring with John since 2022, and I don't know what happened to Miriam.
@@johnnyboy55 no…first that time I saw him was years ago. Seen him since as well, but the show set is just about the same. I liked the earlier shows with more emphasis on the strings, but that was right after many of these songs came out.
The best thing John did was asking Lisa Germano to join his band again for this tour. She needs to stay in his orbit, as she is one of the most eloquent violin and mandolin players, and she added so much richness to his music during the most creative years of his career. Great seeing her on stage with him again.
Live in Indiana, back in the early days of "Cougar", we could go see his concerts all the time. redbrush park was a favorite day at the park. John and Henry Lee Summer put on some of the best music most of the day and were awesome together. what memories, so young, so stoned and now at 68, so grateful. Seen them both five times and each time was aces on everything. John lives by Seymore, IN. I'll stop by and say "hi" someday,Yeah right.
I heard Mr. Mellencamp do the speech for Alan Grubman's(forgive me if I'm wrong) hof induction. It reminded me what I treasure John is. Been digging in ever since, and I don't regret it. One of the true underrated greatest ever.
I'm a metal head but I always liked his music. He's a great song writer, musician with his own style, never copied anybody. I did like when he was called John cougar though.🐺
Aww wtf!?!! I live here, I didn't even know he was here! Would have definitely gone. Love the saroyan theatre too. Bartenders don't get to do anything awesome. Lol
Thinking back to a 1987 Indianapolis concert when he did the splits during this song. He still sounds good. Have loved you since the late '70's, Johnny C.
As I said on another post, John Mellencamp’s voice has aged like fine wine, “Check It Out” was from the album “The Lonesome Jubilee” which was the closest Mellencamp came to making a country music album. Well, his music comes from the heartland of the Midwest, so there are country influences in his albums. He’s been referred as Illinois’ answer to Bruce Springsteen, so if John Mellencamp sings a little like the Boss, I’m okay with that. Check it out.
goose bumps everytime... see and feel my friends and family from those mid-80s... our struggling yet promising youth and yet at the time we didn't realize it... kinda....still, we gravitated toward the notes and chords, etc...
Thanks, Scott! Now, take that vocal coach genius of yours right down to "TheVoice" shooting set and let them know you're there to work. We'll see you in Hollywood!
Can someone explain why RUclips is promoting this specific video so much? There are MUCH better fan videos of "Check It Out" on here from the current tour. This one is blurry because the fan zoomed in a lot on his phone, which as anyone who watches lots of concert videos knows, results in a huge drop in resolution/clarity (the whole digital zoom vs. optical zoom thing). The RUclips algorithm is mind boggling in its idiosyncrasies. Supposedly it prioritizes new creators--before this video blew up this guy had basically no subscribers--to motivate them to produce more content, but the result is that inferior videos get shoved down our throats over far better versions of the same live song. 😖
Great song, but they flew it, and the drummer didn't capture that beat magic that can only be captured by the right tempo! Think I'm full of it? Listen to the original.. Otherwise we'll done!
I love this man's music, but... a check is needed for stage presence. Maybe he needs some bangs... I don't know. I'm glad you're still playing, but changing it up a bit... might help. From a fan.
In 1993 I got a record deal and told the label I wanted Lisa to play on the album and the label lady said "who".. I never signed and rest my case...again
Glad I got to see him in the 80's. Wouldn't pay a dime to see him these days. Last time I saw him was 20 years ago when he ripped off his own home state fans in Indiana with a 1 hour 15 minute show of rushed medleys and no encore. Thank God the very next week I got to see Tom Petty at the same venue who played a 2 hour 30 minute show with 3 encores.

John Mellencamp, and Bob Seger, many of their songs could be the soundtrack of my life.....

I love this song 🎵 ❤️, it's full of heart and soul and meaning ♥️ 🎉🎉. This song makes me look back on my younger days, just simply beautiful 🎉🎉
The violinist has been with John since his career began. AMAZING.
Please help me out: There was a woman with short hair and barefoot the last videos I saw. What happend to her? Thanks

The violin and instruments wow
Wow, great fidelity. Thank you for recording and posting this.
Always loved this tune of his. Very heartfelt.
Nice to hear one of the very first songs I covered with my early bands here in France... Great John & Band!
John and his band sound awesome together. Brilliant arrangement
His best song IMO. Beautiful and powerful
Awesome song. Love Mellencamp.
This is hard to watch, l truly love this songwriter singer. He helped me through a difficult time back in my day when l was young.

His music is aging well. I appreciate him more in this vein--as we both get older.
love when he would play his guitar🎸🎸🎸😊❤
Good show seen him 35 yrs. Ago Concord pavilion he's had real life,,,,,,itch
I love you. From the hillside in Albany New York to the Orphium Theater in Omaha, to the Disney Theather in Orlando. I have followed you.
Warms the heart to see Lisa Germano back where she belongs.
My favourite song by JCM. 😊
I love Lisa

👌😃
I wish I hadn’t seen or heard this. My memories of seeing him twice years and years and years ago were sufficient.
Agree..some of these old rockers need to stop touring .it really ruins the fans memory😢
