I connected my seat sensors to zigbee sonoff door/window sensors. I just soldered the 2 wires from the seat sensor to the pads on the magnetic reed switch inside the door sensor. Works a treat, and they are also wireless, which is a big plus for me.

I connected two of those sensors to an microcontroller for each side of our bed and to a led ring that turns on/off automatically when we get up in the middle of the night.

If you wire the seat sensors on your sofa seat in parallel you would only need one zigbee sensor as you don’t care which sensor is activated.

Yeah, I have the 2 sensors on the one seat in parallel. But then I have the one on the other seat on a separate gpio so that I can tell which seat is occupied.
I actually have 3 in parallel on that one seat now because there were spots which weren't being detected.
