Gonzales mesured 7'7.5 feet tall(232cm) which measured WCW in 1990-1991, in 2000 he was gunesss record for tallest wrestler ever at 7'6 unforntaely he left us in 2010.09.22
I stood right in front of Andre at a house show in the early 80's. He was watching the matches behind some curtain. In that arena, the players all went out the same door as the Zamboni. There was only a guard rail and black curtain blocking it off. I snuck back there to sneak a peak, and Andre was right there. He just smiled at me as I looked up in awe/terror. I think I bowed in awe/terror, but definitely booked it, best security ever for a little kid. He was monstrous.
In his youth Andre was a legit 7 ft tall, maybe a half inch taller if he stood straight. Age and spinal deterioration not to mention his slouching gave a height up to two inches less.
Yeah, some of the comments mentioned the same thing. Think the general conlusion is that he was somewhere between 7 to 7'2 in the 70s and early 80s, but then, as you said, spinal deterioation and posture took some height away.
The Rock was on Fox NFL Sunday standing next to Howie Long and Michael Strahan, who are both 6'5". They dwarfed The Rock by at least three inches, even though The Rock is usually billed as 6'5".
I have a co-worker who is 6ft 9 and he’s a wrestling fan and has met many wrestlers. Pictured with them he’s slightly shorter than Nash, but slightly taller than Sid and Taker. He said 90s Sid is was most impressive one cuz he’s “a really ripped tall guy.”
Thank you for sharing. Those measurements and comparisons make a lot of sense. I fully agree; Sid was a presence. I have always had a soft spot for him.
Debo who played Zeus in no holds barred in 1989 said in an interview Hogan was legit 6'5", they were the identical height he said looking eye to eye in real life, but the producers had Zues wear lifts about an inch to almost 2 inches taller then Hogan in the movie to appear taller and more apposing. So Hogan appears around 6'6" on Film while Zues around 6"7-8'. The interview is here on RUclips, seen it years back obsessing over Height! lol
Before he was a wrestler, Andre said in a French interview that he was 7'1". Back in WCW when "The Son Of Andre" and Nash were feuding, Nash did a promo in the ring and said something (to Big Show) like "You want to be the biggest guy here? That's fine. I'm perfectly happy being 6 foot 10." I'm 6' 1.75" but I round it out to 6'2" and I'm a good inch and a half taller than John Cena and about 3 inches taller than RVD.
Another short wrestler who's height is inflated is Mickie James. She's billed at 5'4", which I know is not true because I met her in person and she's well over a foot shorter than me (I'm a legit 6'1") and a little shorter than my mother who's 5'2". I'd guess she's around 5'1" at most. Most male wrestlers I've met are also shorter than me.
@@howstrongis thanks bro but I feel like Cena is shorter than his billed height of 6"1 but I can be wrong. Shawn (especially older) looks nowhere close to his billed height of 6"1 because Logan Paul was towering over Shawn and Logan Paul is 6"2 (just 1 inch difference shouldn't create a towering difference) and Logan is also slightly taller than HHH despite HHH billed height of 6"4
I meet Hogan in Tampa Florida years ago before all the surgeries, i was with my brother and my brother is a legit six foot four, well Hogan was at least two inches taller than my brother back then.
My dad used to do airport security. He met Hogan and Andre in 1989. He said Hogan was legit 6'7", and that Andre didn't fit in the detector. I met Nash in 2003, 6'10" is about right. I met Batista in 2015, he's way bigger than 260.
Awesome information there, thank you. No doubt Andre was huge judging from the size of his head and hands. Batista in his prime especially was on another level
I think Batista once said his legit weight at the peak of his wrestling career was 265. When he first joined the WWF, he was about 290 - he was less lean than later on but much more massive
Hmm I grew up on Portland wrestling. Grandpa introduced us to andre and big john studd many years ago. Grandpa was a NWA AWA and world class wrestling junkie. He met them all. Grandpa was 6'4. According to Grandpa. Hogan in his opinion was 6'5 mabey 6'6 studded 6'8 Andre round 6'11. Of coarse these are all guesstimates.guesstimate. when grandpa looked at studd he had to look up at him. But hogan, barely had to look up.
I met the rock at The Shops Sunset Place in South Miami back in 2007 when he was promoting his movie The Game Plan and he was not 6'5" like he claims. I'm 6'2" and he was 6'2", however he was wearing boots with thick rubber soles making look taller than he was. Also, he was very thin like around 210-220 lbs range, very likeable man as he was saying hi and shaking everybody hands.
So far, we have all concluded in the comments that he was certainly above 7 feet in his prime, but due to gaining weight, his spine became more and more compressed. So its very likely that he started out around 7'2 in his prime, then towards the end might have ended up at 7 or below with his bad back.
Don’t forget Luger. In NWA/WCW, Jim Ross and other commentators often called him 6’5” and sometimes 6’4.” His billed height last i saw years ago on the WWE website was 6’6.” In reality, Luger was very close to Sting’s height of right under 6’3.” Lex Luger was probably 6’3” flat at most.
My Nephew and I met a load of Wrestlers in the mid/late 90’s. My nephew was only young at the time but he’s 6’7! He was really disappointed to be taller than every Wrestler including Sid (known as Sid Justice then). He wanted to meet the so called 6’10 Undertaker but he couldn’t break keyfabe, but I recon they would have been the same height, because Taker looked about an inch taller than Sid in their match! Sid 6’6, Taker 6’7 I recon is accurate!
@@howstrongisMy nephew towered over Big Boss Man, and Earthquake (who was taller than Boss Man when they Wrestled each other the day before!) Quake about 6’5, Boss Man 6’3.5 max!
@@Yutbr800Zeus (Tiny Lister) said he and Hulk were both 6’5” when they worked together, that’s why he had to wear lifts to make him 6’6.5 and get billed 6’10!
Batista is a lift wearer. Im around 5 foot 11 and saw him at a bar in Cleveland he was wearing bowling style shoes and literally had 2 inches on me maybe 3 at most . Batista is a strong 6 foot 1 to a weak 6 foot 2. He’s a lift wearer no doubt about it
Watch him as a bodybuilder before joining wrestling, if u don't believe his billed height of 6'6", he was in his prime that damn freakish irl. U at 5'11 would piss ur pants attention seeker...😂😂😂
Rule of thumb is take off 2 inches and 20lbs from the billed size but it varies. Hogan actually went over 300lbs at his biggest during the AWA and late 80s - even when he started slimming down by 1990, he was still considerably bigger than the Ultimate Warrior who weighed 262-275 as WWF Champion. Lesnar was originally billed at 295 but again went well over that at times, perhaps as much as 310 legit. Sid was 6’6” and around 290. Yoko actually went over 750lbs at his biggest when WWE sent him to a weight loss clinic with Vader. Rock recently did a video where he said he’d got to 277, his heaviest ever.
You might be right there. The height is always easy to compare, weight is always the trickier one. Got couple of guys for training who look way heavier than they actually are
I was going to say similar. One good way you can confirm the billed height is to stand next to any of them. From the ones I had met, one way or another, a good rule of thumb is to take 2 inches away. Better are the former athletes who have their height and weight documented on a roster somewhere.
The other thing is that former athletes aren’t necessarily going to weigh the same in wrestling - Lesnar had to slim down for MMA whereas I bet Goldberg was 10-20lbs heavier in WCW than in the NFL. Weights vary as well because of travel, how tough it is to stick to a duet etc. Warrior was always billed from 260-275 in WWE but his legit weight varied from 220-280. As I said, just in the brief period he was champ, his weight went from 262-275 and this was a guy who was noted for his super-strict diet. Angle went from as low as 180 to as high as 230 over the course of his pro wrestling career.
@@JackgarPrime Think it varies. For most of the 'smaller heavyweight guys' i.e. guys billed from 230-280 or so, 20lbs is a decent estimate. For super heavyweights, it can be a lot more.
Jorge 'Giant' Gonzalez was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks in the 3rd round of the 1988 NBA Draft. He was 7'7" at the time, but never played in the NBA. You're right, Paul Wight a.k.a. Big Show is 7'0" and Kevin Nash is 6'10".
A lot of these guys played college basketball. Kane and Big Show both did. I saw a program from Big Show’s college team, he was billed at 7’1 and 325 lbs. Basketball players are often given an extra inch or 2 in height. They’re now measured in socks, back then it was with shoes on. Could add up to 2 inches. I’m sure Big Show gained considerable amounts of weight after college but I’m guessing early WCW he was maybe 400 lbs at most.
@@howstrongishe played in Argentina before Atlanta drafted him, but the Hawks didn't sign him, though. He was the tallest player available at that time. But he was too slow for the Big League.
The rock is 6'1.5" barefoot nothing more....his pic with shaq and charles barkley(who's admitted being a weak 6'5" at best) exposed him....he does have a big frame though hence being able to carry that much bodyweight
Dont know how tall big show really is but saw him in 2006 at a house show and he was massive. Biggest guy ive ever seen . Basically close size to Andre.
When the Big Show and Shaq squared off against each other , Shaq was taller. Shaq admitted that he was not 7‘1“ and that he was 6‘11“ but he played like he was 7‘1“ and basically said that his billed playing height of 7‘1“ just sounded better. You can also see that when an older Wilt Chamberlain met Shaq before a New York Knicks Orlando Magic basketball game that Wilt stood visibly taller than Shaq and wilt is 7‘1”
Not true about Shaq. Ive met one or two pro's that were 6'10 (legit), and 7'(legit), and shaq towered over both of them! I think he was close to 7'2 altho they said 7'1. And if Shaq was 6'11 that would make the rock around 5'11. Brock MAX 6' and we know this isn't true. Shaq is a giant of a man
@@Retics Shaq has stated many times he is 6'11.5" tall. He stood next to a 7'1" Chamberlain and 7'2" Kareem and they were both clearly taller than Shaq.
If you watched the big show and Shaq stand face to face in their match Shaq but if you look at the foot wear Shaq was wearing those big balloon sneakers and they probably put lifts in them to make him taller the Show was wearing flats they don't want you knowing their real heights someone I know who is a big wrestling fan said he met the big show and asked him who's taller and he said Shaq was 1/2 inch taller barefoot
I remember that John Morrison was introduced weighing 250lbs once in a singles match during MNM era. I hope Tony Chimel just confused 215 and 250 and not that WWE tried to bill him at 250lbs.
Great input, let me check some of the older matches. That would have been a far far stretch. As lean as Morrison was, with 250 he would have been the next Mr Olympia.
A lot of these guys wear lifts in their wrestling boots so they legitimately look that tall on tv. Kane might go from 6’8” to 6’11” with the right boots.
You guys obviously know NOTHING about lifts. To get 3 true inches you’d have a MASSIVE lift that would be absolutely obvious in a wrestling boot and be incredibly awkward and dangerous. Wrestlers almost never wear lifts in their wrestling gear. Unreal how confident people are in their ignorance.
Sid said on his podcast a few years ago that his tallest barefoot measured height was a hair over 6ft6 (I sent the question in). He said this a couple of times. He’s a great one to use as a measuring stick
I just saw it recently, didn’t know you asked , that’s awesome. Yeah, think 6’6 seems legit for him, if I remember correctly he said that would be barefoot, so with boots he might be another inch or two taller
Rey Mysterio is tiny, no taller than 5'1" or 5'2" at most, my ex-wife is 4'11" and she was nearly looking him straight in the eye. I'm 5'9" and could easily have rested my chin on top of his head.
@@howstrongis It's funny, sometimes I see a short person and think to myself "Ohhh, nice chin rest.", that was my first thought meeting Rey. Other times I get that song "Short People" playing in my head, my ex hated that song.
@@howstrongis Should do one of these on female wrestlers, everyone knows women hate sharing their true physical stats and shave weight off. Unlike men, the smaller women seem to be the most agressive like The Juggernaut Jordynne Grace who's only 5'3" and her former PAWG tag partner The Mother Superior of Violence aka the Innovator of Intergender aka First Lady of Hardcore Lu Fisto is also 5'3", I'd rather face Rey than either of those women...actually, I take that back, Jordynne and Lu Fisto can crush my head between their buttocks anytime.
Lots of 6'8" guys coming out of college and they all are 6'5" -6'6", very disappointing. The worst was Byron Houston, listed at 6'8" and was set to be number 1 pick in draft. When nba found out he was 6'4", he got drafted near the end of the 1st round. One funny story that was opposite was Hakeem Olajuwon. Because of a metric to standard conversion error, Hakeem basically told the Houston college coaches he was 6'7" when he was trying to go to college there. The coaches assumed that meant he was 6'4"-6'5". When he showed up and they saw him get out of the car for the first time they couldn't believe it. He was 6'10".
Really? I believe you and I'm sure it wasn't your choice, but giving four inches to someone six foot nothing is a bit egregious; much easier to make someone 6'8" seven foot even because most people haven't stood next to many 6'8" people and could be fooled.
This is because their long-term use of steroids can lead to severe osteoporosis in later life, as well as long-term wear and tear on the soft tissues of joints and vertebrae caused by excessive use of the body, which will cause their height to shrink with age
Cheers for the input Mark. From all the guys i covered, Kane was the toughest one. Not sure if it’s the camera angles but he seemed to shapeshift depending on the picture
Oh I knew the stats were off for awhile. When I met Chris Jericho and Test, they weren't what I thought. Jericho was a tiny guy (compared to me lol) and Test was no 6'7". Maybe 6'3" or 4". I wish I coulda wrestled the attitude era guys. When I was I my late teens I was just under 6'2" and 312 lbs. I was a weight lifting junkie lol. I'm paying the price now though. Pain every single day. But yeah......I read somewhere Andre was 7'8" when he passed? I said nooooo way. He wasn't much taller than Hogan, and Hogan was no 6'7" or 8". Seeing em on TV is one thing, but seeing these guys in person.......well.....it could disappoint. No matter, my favorites were Stone Cold, Undertaker, and HHH.
Yeah, seing most of them in real puts everything on perspective. Chris Jericho was one of those names I almost wanted to include. 6'2 and 312 lbs was some serious size you had there....
the biggest problem I have is with the smaller guys like Ricky Morton or Shawn Michaels "exaggerated" weight! And don't tell me they were muscular--they weren't. Ricky Morton didn't look like a french fry over 170--barely big enough to be a high school quarterback! (220--give me a break!). That's one thing I actually liked about ROH---their guys were small and they admitted it!
In PWI, Morton was billed as 228 lbs! There's no way he was heavier than 180 lbs, the Road Warriors said so, and both of them were well under 300 lbs themselves, more like 280 lbs. El Gigante and Paul Wight were 300 lbs and the roly poly Happy Humphrey and Haystacks Calhoun were 400 lbs😂❤😊
Let's not forget that MANY of these wrestlers and actors wear gigantic lifts, to legitimize their billed heights. Some years back, I met Lou Ferrigno at a Comic Con in Albuquerque. He was always billed at 6'5" and 275-300 range. I had my picture taken with him and I dwarfed him by height and size at 6'5" and ~260 lbs at that time. I've added a significant amount of muscle mass since then, as my training went from cardio based to traditional weight training, and now at age 52 am still 6'5" and 300 lbs.
That is pretty interesting. Always wondered how it is for bodybuilders and their billed weights and heights. Many people mentioned that Arnold stats were also slightly boosted, but that’s the first time I heard the story about Lou.
NBA guys and wrestlers have the most BSd heights. Saw Dwight Howard outside a Chicago Bar once and he couldn't have been taller than 6'8 but was listed at 6'11. Wilt Chamberlain always looked huge because he was legitimately measured in bare feet and was 7'1 3/16th. Today he'd be listed as 7'3 or 4. Bruiser Brody was always listed at 6'8 but stated as a matter of factly that he was 6'5 in a out of character interview. Andre may have been 7' in his late teens, but his increasing weight, leg bowing and injuries probably brought him down to 6'8 or 9 at the end of his life. Hogan always said he was 6'5 in his prime. That's believable, but 6'8 is laughable .
The NBA was for me the most suprising fact. I was aware of Pro Wrestling, being a form of entertainment. Makes me question other stats from different sports.
@@howstrongis the NFL has combines which basically measures everything except penis size and probably that too. So the NFL is legit. If it were pro wrestling Trevor Lawrence would be listed at 6'10. Lol
Basketball rosters are off by about 1.5 inches today for shoes on. Not like back in Wilts day. Bill Russell always looked as tall as Garnett at Celtic games.
You also have some players (usually power forwards) actually listing heights shorter than their actual heights.... Maybe so fans don't question why they prefer not to play center (presumably because they are weak and cowardly).
I remember there was a point where Nash was fueding with Big Show in his WCW days as the Giant and he had pointed out "You arent even really 7 ft tall". I still remembered Nash kinda brushed it off next week by pointing out he still beat him and was "6'10 sexy and too sweet"
I wonder if he was already billed that tall in the ecw, or did it rather started in the wcw or wwe? Especially after watching the Eddie Guerrero documentary yesterday, where Vince said after meeting Eddie that he is tiny.
Terry Taylor, Chris Adams, Gino Hernandez, Mike Von Erich, 123 Kid/X PUC---all looked WAY smaller in the 80s and 90s than some of the Ring of Honor guys in the 00s who were listed at 190 pounds!
That is actually a pretty legit point, although i remember Terry being at one point with Dr Death in a Tag Team and didnt looked that much smaller. Could be also my bad memory...
Internet sufficed that somewhere in the 80s when he has to renew his wrestler's license back then. Hulk Hogan did give out his height as 6ft 5. Which was probably not too far from the truth. 6'5¼" during evening hours is what im expecting.
Not sure sometimes with those licenses. Think when i made mine back then, they basically just asked me, never measured anything. I should have said 7'4
That's what people in the business and i felt my uncle didn't understand. He was a legit 6'4" and weighed around 230 pounds fr. They wanted to train him to work but he didn't care and looked down on the business.
We all knew most of these heights were exaggerated. Andre and Big show were genuinely 7ft tall when younger. Andre’s weight might have been slightly exaggerated but he looked huge next o other wrestlers so it’s obvious he was much heavier than them. Big Show was legitimately in the 425-450 lb range most of his career.
True that, especially Andre in the 70s is a whole different topic. But the bigger he grew, the bigger his whole body became, especially his hands were huge
Yeah that was the only one that stuck out to me. I think he was pretty close with most of the video. But Hogan was WAY more than 260. NWO Hogan was leaner and definitely smaller. WWF Hogan wad huge. I've been 240lbs even 260lbs solid at 6'1" and Hogan would have dwarfed me. His legs were big too. Great vid.
Appreciate the feedback. You might be right there, especially prime hogan was huge. Only had the chance to see him live once in his later career, and he was still pretty big. While the height is easy to guess, the weight is sometimes hard to tell
@@howstrongis NWO Hogan was considerably leaner and smaller. So the 260 would be close. WWF bloated Hogan was carrying some weight. Great video. It's definitely something I've shaken my head at when they announce the wrestlers bodyweights
Hogan was leaner at the start of his nWo run, but a couple years in, it was clear he was back on whatever he was using in the 80's again and had gained much of that old size back.
I spent nearly 2 decades working the indy scene as my full time job. I always went with my true height of 6'3 It would drive me crazy when I worked dudes who told me they were billed at 6'3+ and I was clearly an inch or more taller. I was always like, dude for real?
Cheers for sharing. One of my wrestlers always said, it might be not true but its the better story. In case you ever have to come to Tokyo for a match, let me know. Training couple of the New Japan guys and Stardom girls, feel free to join us for a training session anytime.
@howstrongis after 4 years of doing it as a part time job and 19 as my full time job, I took to working at a school and training as well, my matches are few and far between now, but still like to get around. Besides Japan is one of the few countries still left on my bucket list!
So Im 6ft 2 & 255 lbs. I've meet Goldberg when I was about 225lbs and he wasnt much larger. Id say in 2017 he was 240lbs and he was a fraction shorter but he had cowboy boots on. So you can extrapolate that Brock, Rock, & Trips are all about 6ft 2 max & 250 max. Im also a wrestler and I wear 3 inch lifts which allow me to step over the tope rope if its not super tight so anyone who does that is about 6ft5 or up. Hope all that helps.
That is actually super helpful, appreciate the input. Whenever you are in the Tokyo area, feel free to come by my gym, we got plenty of pro wrestlers training there.

Recently I listened to a podcast where Paul Orndorff ( Mr. Wonderful ) said that while he was training to become a pro wrestler under Hiro Matsuda in Tampa, he was 5'11" ( 180 cm.) and about 225 lbs.( 102 kg.). I remember watching Mr. Wonder wrestling matches in his prime ('80's), and he was being introduced at 6'1" and 252 lbs.Of course, it is a small exaggeration, but the WWF could get away with it, because when a guy is on TV, or far away in the ring, it is difficult to estimate his true size, unless he is standing right next to you.
I fully agree, it seems like the best explanation so far. Specifically, in his early years, his limbs were still proportional to the rest of his body, but from the 1980s onward he became increasingly massive.
Andre The Giants real hight in the late 70s in his prime with a straight backwas 7 foot 1/2 inch tall but he was much taller than 6 foot 9 but when he had a very bad hunched back from 1989 to 90 he was 6 foot 9
@@howstrongis Wilt Chamberlain was actually 7 foot 1 & 1/2 inches cause sometimes they said he was 7 foot 2 because they rarely went by half inches in the late 60s to the mid 70s when the said the basketball players height in those days
Lord of big human specimens in this video - even IF not always perfectly aligned with their marketing. I’ve always been a fan of Andre. Also, Wilt Chamberlin seems to have pretty reliable measurements and he was quite an athlete as per his NBA stats and the accounts of those who played with him and coached him. In terms of height and mass and athleticism, Shaq always comes to mind for me.
Andre was huge, no doubt. As for basketball (don’t know enough about it except for some 90s nba) some guys mentioned in the comments that some stats might be inflated there too, is that true?
I've gone to wwe house shows and the female wrestlers are so tiny it kills the story! most of the men looked regular size. some are actually pretty big though.

Eddies weight always seemed off to be even as a kid no way he weighed 248 pounds. Same eith Tazz in ecw no way he was 250. Also rvd 235 was his billed weight idk he looks lighter. Height of course is exaggerated i think weight is exaggerated more than people talk about and realize
True, completely forgot about Taz…. Had the honor to commentate a match here in Japan of RVD last year, although he is a lot older now, I highly doubt he was ever even close to 235.
Under taker is more in the 6’5 6’6 range look at him next to Kevin love a nba player he claims 6’8 and is way taller by like 3 inches but taker was older so prime he might be 6’6
I've read that Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane, actual height is about 6'8.5". I know someone that met him at a conference that got a picture standing next to him who is 6'. Now I'm 6'7" and can see how tall I am next to my friend so I think 6'8.5" for Kane is probably accurate.
Not about D'Lo's. D'Lo really was from all of those places in Europe. He bought a new mansion in a new country, every week, when he was European Champion.
The tallest wrestler I have met is Big Show, though he was sitting down, so there is no picture of him towering over me. The 3 taller were lighter and he 2 heavier were shorter. No one could claim they were legit both taller and heavier than him.
Randy is legit 6'3" atleast maybe weak 6'4" he slouches alot when standing and stays very relaxed in his posture which gives the other wrestlers who are couple inches shorter than him trying to look taller the closer to same height as randy but they really aren't
I’ve only seen one wrestler in real life. Funny thing is his height seemed to be taller than his billed height. Bret Hart. I was in line behind him at Sunterra Sirocco in Calgary. I’m 5’10” and though he is billed at 6’0” he looked 6’2” or so. I was surprised how tall he was. Maybe because he wasn’t as bulky and the bulk made him look shorter. This was 2004. I guess he was probably wearing cowboy boots or something.

I really love reading stories like this in the comment section. It helps me tremendously to make sense of those numbers or put things in perspective. In the context of the airplane, this is interesting, since it is highly unlikely that he would have used lifting boots for a flight.
From the information I researched I while ago Rude was easily 6’3, also compared with others he always looked taller. Lex I think is a lot bigger than he looks according to others, and Warrior is an interesting one. The question wouldn’t be how tall he was, but rather how wide…
Andre was 7’4” at the peak of his physical conditioning old age and rough life like many of us takes it toll and by his death he was shorter, the photos you are looking at are in the late 1980s not at his peak
I think most people in the comments said something similar. While it is still debated whether Andre was 7'2 at his peak, his condition, posture, and hips eventually shrunk him down to roughly 7' or less in his later years.
Andre's real height was 6'9.75 He was Measured by Dave Meltzer. And During his Autopsy he was 6'9 and said weight to have weighd 555Ibs, Even Ultimate Warior said on an stage confrontation he was 6'9 and 777Ibs, But clearly the weight is inaccurate, he was atleast 450+500
The easiest example I can give you guys is of the actor that plays Jack Reacher in the new Reacher series. In the show the character he plays is said to be 6'5 but Alan Ritchson himself said he is 6'2 🙂
I know for a fact that Rey is around 5’2”. I hung out with him and even helped him move from ATL when WWE bought out WCW. He was a friend of my friend and an associate of mine. Cool guy, super nice, wild ass party animal, strong as an ox and is the same height as my mom.
I know people do lose height as they age. My dad was a level 6’4 when he was younger. He is now 63 and says he is 6’2 now. Seems about right to me i am 6’1 and he is only an inch or so taller than I am. The weight, I think they definitely listed people heavier. TV makes people look heavier than they are and these people look thinner on tv than I do in person. I am down to 256, at my heaviest I was 300. No, I was not a ripped 300, I was an out of shape round 300. I still need to lose more but, I am a ton better than I was before I got married and started to work on taking care of myself and going to see doctors and work on my health.
Gonzales mesured 7'7.5 feet tall(232cm) which measured WCW in 1990-1991, in 2000 he was gunesss record for tallest wrestler ever at 7'6 unforntaely he left us in 2010.09.22
Didnt know the WCW measurement. Thanks.
240 cm is not accurate at all.
Awesome story, wish I had the chance to see him in person. Must be one hell of a experience
In his youth Andre was a legit 7 ft tall, maybe a half inch taller if he stood straight. Age and spinal deterioration not to mention his slouching gave a height up to two inches less.
Yeah, some of the comments mentioned the same thing. Think the general conlusion is that he was somewhere between 7 to 7'2 in the 70s and early 80s, but then, as you said, spinal deterioation and posture took some height away.
. I cannot recall who it was but they had worked with Andre for a long time and they said he lost A LOT of height in the mid to late 80s
Wrestlers get shorter because of age and spinal injuries. Mick Foley actually regained some height after working with DDP
Some of them big times, think Hulk and Andre are the poster boys. Didnt actually know that Foley also worked together with DDP
Yes true, but they are nowhere near their billed height
Watch early big show vids to last 10 years of show and u can tell his shorter. Same with kane
The Rock was on Fox NFL Sunday standing next to Howie Long and Michael Strahan, who are both 6'5". They dwarfed The Rock by at least three inches, even though The Rock is usually billed as 6'5".
Rock when playing college football at the University of Miami was listed at 6-4. Later at NFL Combine measured 6-3.
Safe rule of thumb: remove 10-20% weight and 2-4 inches height and there's the real size.
And minus 25 pounds whatever people say they bench
The interview is here on RUclips, seen it years back obsessing over Height! lol
Andre in his prime was a legit 7'0 / 7'1. Hogan around '6'5

Before he was a wrestler, Andre said in a French interview that he was 7'1". Back in WCW when "The Son Of Andre" and Nash were feuding, Nash did a promo in the ring and said something (to Big Show) like "You want to be the biggest guy here? That's fine. I'm perfectly happy being 6 foot 10."
I'm 6' 1.75" but I round it out to 6'2" and I'm a good inch and a half taller than John Cena and about 3 inches taller than RVD.

Bryan Clark, havent heard that name in some time. True, he was massive back then. Thanks for sharing
That’s actually the first time I heard that, never thought they would do this with the female wrestlers too. Thanks for sharing

Hogan was a lot taller back then.
😂Absolutely fantastic! I hate when they give a ridiculous physical stat, and then they walk by the audience filledwith regular sized people.

@@howstrongis Glad to help.
I think Batista once said his legit weight at the peak of his wrestling career was 265. When he first joined the WWF, he was about 290 - he was less lean than later on but much more massive
Think especially during his debut and leviathan time he was a lot more massive.

Stephanie McMahon was billed at 5'11 but to me she looks like she is 5'7 its also the same for Lita she was billed at 5'6 but definitely is 5'4
She got the McMahon treatment. That makes me also think how small Rey actually is who looked small against Stephanie

I met the rock at The Shops Sunset Place in South Miami back in 2007 when he was promoting his movie The Game Plan and he was not 6'5" like he claims. @@tt6116 l've see two interviews with him saying he was 6'8" so maybe he shrunk and is now compensating for it?
@@Jimmy-Volmer maybe, but he 100 percent told me 6’7 when I asked him about his height.
He was 6'8 and wore about 2 inch lifts during his debut.
Andre was more than 6'9. He was over 7 foot.

I wouldn't even say 20lbs, I'd say 10%. Which can get to be quite a significant boost for the really big fellahs.
@@JackgarPrime Think it varies. For most of the 'smaller heavyweight guys' i.e. guys billed from 230-280 or so, 20lbs is a decent estimate. For super heavyweights, it can be a lot more.
I got to see Andre live when I was little. Still the BIGGEST MFR I have EVER seen in my life.
Not many people who can say they have seen Andre live. Must have left a huge impression, no pun intended.
Only knew he played Basketball before, didnt know he was in the NBA draft. Wonder how got he was actually there.

No doubt, especially early 2000s to mid 2000 he was at his heaviest.
When the Big Show and Shaq squared off against each other , Shaq was taller. Shaq admitted that he was not 7‘1“ and that he was 6‘11“ but he played like he was 7‘1“ and basically said that his billed playing height of 7‘1“ just sounded better. You can also see that when an older Wilt Chamberlain met Shaq before a New York Knicks Orlando Magic basketball game that Wilt stood visibly taller than Shaq and wilt is 7‘1”
Great input there. Not following much basketball, but a friend told me that the heights in the NBA might be similar inflated as the ones in the WWE.
Wilt probably was only 7'0" by then too.
Absolutely correct there. Kane probably got another inch just from the hair on the mask

Yes it's true, they do bill the wrestlers bigger than they really are. I was always announced as 6'4 but I am only 6'ft. Great video btw!
Appreciate your feedback. You were/are wrestling too?

I am 6'6 and weigh 265 but I don't look like a pro wrestler. My max weight was 285 and I may have actually been close to 6'7 in my younger years.
You would be huge over here in Tokyo

Those were great times. Especially prime Big Show/Giant and Kevin Nash during the WCW were two forces....
Big surprise for me was when i met Rey Mysterio Jr......he was billed at 5'6.....but I'd say he's about 5'2 or 5'3.....he was tiny in real life!
I wonder if he was already billed that tall in the ecw, or did it rather started in the wcw or wwe? Especially after watching the Eddie Guerrero documentary yesterday, where Vince said after meeting Eddie that he is tiny.

I should have said 7'4
Taker was 6'8". He said that himself on his podcast.
Thanks for the info. Didn’t know he mentioned that, could have included that clip in retrospect
And the a & e bio
randy orton is legit 6,5 im 6.4 and he was a lil taller
Thanks for the info. Never had the chance to see him live. 6,4 is also huge
No. He was just in the foreground.
Theres a picture of the rock standing between Peyton and Eli Manning. Hes at least 2 inches shorter than them. He has to be 6'2" or 6'3" but not 6'5"
Let me check the picture, that would be a great find and mention, cheers
That's what people in the business and i felt my uncle didn't understand. He was a legit 6'4" and weighed around 230 pounds fr. They wanted to train him to work but he didn't care and looked down on the business.
Thats sounds like a proper big man
We all knew most of these heights were exaggerated.
Andre was under 7
Yeah that was the only one that stuck out to me.
@@JackgarPrime might be. Still remembering Hogan at wrestlemania 9 of gear, he had such a different look…
In the pics with wilt andre is standing on a part of the floor that's going downwards which looks like it may be a 2 inch disadvantage
Good point, some of those camera angles (like in Kanes cases) can change everything
I spent nearly 2 decades working the indy scene as my full time job.
I always went with my true height of 6'3
It would drive me crazy when I worked dudes who told me they were billed at 6'3+ and I was clearly an inch or more taller.
That is awesome, you are welcome here anytime.
@@howstrongis definitely will keep that in mind!
People in real life do it, too lol. I’m barely 5’8 and this coworker’s badge has him at 5’8 when he’s clearly 2 inches shorter than me.

Nash was always billed at 6’11
Oz , 7ft
I think Adam Cole's, Mysterio's and Gargano's billed weights and heights are the most ridiculous
Forgot about Adam Cole :)
Andre once drank 4000 beers in one setting.
A regular evening in Germany :)
And 561 bottles of wine.
When andre holds a beer can you can hardly see it. His hands were huge.
I met Andre once and he was huge, no lies there.
No doubt. Think he had especially a huge frame
Andre was 7 foot 1, later in life he got surgery and his height was reduced as a result making him 6 foot 10
I fully agree, it seems like the best explanation so far. Specifically, in his early years, his limbs were still proportional to the rest of his body, but from the 1980s onward he became increasingly massive.
Plus his weight gave him a large hunch.
Andre The Giants real hight in the late 70s in his prime with a straight backwas 7 foot 1/2 inch tall but he was much taller than 6 foot 9 but when he had a very bad hunched back from 1989 to 90 he was 6 foot 9
I had the same thought. Think, both him and Hogan shrunk quite a lot over the years due to injuries and wear and tear on the body.
@@howstrongis Wilt Chamberlain was actually 7 foot 1 & 1/2 inches cause sometimes they said he was 7 foot 2 because they rarely went by half inches in the late 60s to the mid 70s when the said the basketball players height in those days

Young athletic Andre was 7ft
thanks for posting andre always grew every show lol vince would say he was 7 feet 5inch in some shows
And Giant Gonzales 8 feet :)
Rodney was supposedly 650 pounds which being a problem they weren't reporting a kayfabe number. He was also 6'4"
Real height was 6'0-6'1. He did break 650 irl.
there's a video of Andre stating he is 7'1
Highly likely, even official documents range from 7’4 (wrestling license) to 7’1 . Think he shrunk due to spinal compression
Training recently two female wrestlers here who are huge. But most of them, yeah agree…
Hulk Hogan was built at 6 foot 8 is actual height for 6 ft 5
I remember hogan billed as 6’6” and 302 in WWF. But apparently was closer to 6’4 and 265
I would say no more than 6'6 for Hogan's peak height.
@@RobTheUndertaker I met him in person in the mid 90’s and I’d guess him to be around 6’4” Lex Luger at the time was billed at 6’6” and he was considerably taller than Hogan who was also there.
Not an wrestler, but an athlete: Arnold Swarzeneggar is billed around 6'1"', but I know multiple people who worked for him, say he was no taller than 5'9".
Xpac was billed at 212lbs but xpac looks around 185lbs

Playboy Buddy Rose was 217#. He even brought a scale to the ring to prove it. :)

Thanks for the input. Kane was the biggest mystery, I couldn’t figure it out
Wrestling always lied about wrestlers home town
That’s a good point. Sometimes even the nationality
Not about D'Lo's. D'Lo really was from all of those places in Europe. He bought a new mansion in a new country, every week, when he was European Champion.
The tallest wrestler I have met is Big Show, though he was sitting down, so there is no picture of him towering over me. I do, however, have a picture with 6’10” Nathan Jones, which is the height he has said he is in interviews, and I felt very small standing next to him, despite being around 6 myself.
Must have been impressive to see Big Show live. True, Nathan Jones looks like every inch and foot he says he is.
@@howstrongis The biggest thing I remember most about meeting Big Show was shaking his hand. He grabbed all the way to my wrist, and you couldn’t see my hand at all!
That sounds huge....
Reminds me of Andre putting his hand on Mean Gean....
Real heights (I will use a half inch range). This is at their peak height so not old age + surgery maybe shrunk them down.
Giant Gonzales: 7'6.5" to 7'7"
Omos: 7'1.5" to 7'2"
Khali: 7'0.5" to 7'1"
Big Show: 6'11 to 6'11.5"
Andre: 6'10.5" to 6'11"
Nash: 6'9.5" to 6'10"
Kane: 6'7.5 to 6'8"
Taker: 6'7" to 6'7.5"
Sid: 6'6.5" to 6'7"
Mabel/Viscera: 6'6" to 6'6.5"
Hogan: 6'5" to 6'5.5"
Yokozuna: 6'3" to 6'3.5"
Those look pretty accurate.
@@howstrongis Thank you. I will list their most likely peak weight as well. Maybe give or take 5 lbs at most.
Giant Gonzales: 375
Omos: 380
Khali: 385
Big Show: 500 (He was weighed legit at 493 vs Akebono and was never really heavier than that even at his fattest. When he arrived to WWF he was billed at 500 and was actually 420-430. 500 would be the most he ever weighed.)
Andre: 475
Nash: 325 (as "master blaster" before he was "Diesel" in WWF. By the time he was Diesel in WWF he was about 295-300)
Kane: 345 (the actually under billed his weight to say same-ish as Taker's billed weight. He lost weight after surgery due to muscle tear)
Taker: 310 (during ministry run. During ABA run and on he was probably max 300 if not 290s. Down to 285 by the time he went back to being "dead man" Taker)
Sid: 305
Mabel/Viscera: 510
Hogan: 290
Yokozuna: 575
I think Big Show can claim to the biggest ever in real life. The 3 taller were lighter and he 2 heavier were shorter. No one could claim they were legit both taller and heavier than him.
Look at Randy Orton vs Batista! One of them isn’t 6’4!
True, but i think especially HHH looked a lot smaller compared to both.
@@howstrongis Batista doesn't have a full inch on HHH; he's a shade taller, though.
Randy is legit 6'3" atleast maybe weak 6'4" he slouches alot when standing and stays very relaxed in his posture which gives the other wrestlers who are couple inches shorter than him trying to look taller the closer to same height as randy but they really aren't
In an interview with Conan OBrian, Big Show stated he had lost some weight and weighed about 450 at the time.
Thanks for letting me know, will check the interview out.
Similar to Japanese AV stars and Idols, they are generally 5 years older than their billed ages.
Fun fact, I used to work part time as a bodyguard for an idol here, she was 18 but was in reality 29
If yer huge, you have to wear the single-shoulder strap unitard. It's like, required or something.
Singlets are for the big boys and amateur wrestlers. Think Big E and Kofi made once fun about it.
Hulk hogan was every bit of 6 foot 7 or better. I met him in person. !
Cheers for the input. Around what time did you saw Hulk?
@@howstrongis about 20 years ago ..
That would be prime Hogan, he must have been an unit back then....
@@howstrongis I’m an airline pilot and Hulk hogan got on my airplane, so I got a good look at him when he came through ducking under the door of the aircraft Boeing 757 .
Charlotte to Los Angeles .. I had no idea how tall he was until I saw him in real life . The opening on the entry door on the Boeing 757 is about 6 foot 3.. Hulk Hogan had to duck to keep from smashing his head .. on the door frame .
I really love reading stories like this in the comment section. It helps me tremendously to make sense of those numbers or put things in perspective. In the context of the airplane, this is interesting, since it is highly unlikely that he would have used lifting boots for a flight.
How about Ultimate Warrior, Rick Rude, Sting, Scott Steiner, Scott Hall & Lex Lugar? Thank you.
From the information I researched I while ago Rude was easily 6’3, also compared with others he always looked taller.
Lex I think is a lot bigger than he looks according to others, and Warrior is an interesting one. The question wouldn’t be how tall he was, but rather how wide…
Andre was at least 7'0-7'1 and it wasn't just his height but his width as well
Yeah, especially the older he got, the bigger he grew in width.
At WrestleMania, Samantha Irving announced the rock as 285 pounds. And I'll interview. The rock said he was 284 pounds.
With his recent muscle gain that wouldn’t surprise me
Andre was 7’4” at the peak of his physical conditioning old age and rough life like many of us takes it toll and by his death he was shorter, the photos you are looking at are in the late 1980s not at his peak
Appreciate the input, so many stories about his height and weight out there, that’s part of the fascination
When did Dave Meltzer measure him?
The easiest example I can give you guys is of the actor that plays Jack Reacher in the new Reacher series. In the show the character he plays is said to be 6'5 but Alan Ritchson himself said he is 6'2 🙂
I actually heard they made him even taller season 2 with boots…
It's more realistic than Tom Cruise playing Reacher, who's 5'7.
I know for a fact that Rey is around 5’2”. I hung out with him and even helped him move from ATL when WWE bought out WCW. He was a friend of my friend and an associate of mine. Cool guy, super nice, wild ass party animal, strong as an ox and is the same height as my mom.
That is a great story right there. Seems like everyone only has nice things to say about Rey
Wilt was 7’ 2”
Might be accurate, even though some mentioned in the comments that NBA also modifies their players heights
Wilt stated a thousand times he was 7'1".
