Hello, I have a Honda 4gpm it came with a downstream injector I think they said 20:1 so I’m using 12.5 sh. Does that mean it will be about 2.5 strength at the end of 200’ of hose. Also if I buy the o le you have linked in your vids what strength will that give me as the end of hose. I’m thinking of adding another 50 feet so 250’ on reel. Tku.

Great video , I've always used to avoid doing decks , so I did one a week ago turned out great, only thing never let the bleach dry up learned that the hard way , pain in the butt trying to rinse off
I did precisely what you did today except an extra coat of SH w/ dawn. Came out beautifully, ready for paint tomorrow if I can do it that soon. I just loved being able to do the job without pressure thanks to you. A little more time but no damage and it’s just great. Down-streaming SH w/ dawn is what it’s all about. Works on homes too. Correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks again!
You shouldn’t paint that soon after washing.
Makes me wanna load up my pickup truck and trailer with some lumber and tools( I drive for one of the largest lumber suppliers in the country) and come down and rebuild that deck and fix the rot in the cedar siding lol. Great job Dan, you're the man. I've learned so much from you. I'm just starting my side hustle, mowing and house washing. Had to buy a nice 3200 psi 2.8/3.0 gpm pressure washer until I can afford your killer set up. Hard to find a good PW with downstream injection in a $300 to 400 price range, though. Gonna see about plumbing one in this weekend.

There was one time we used Clorox siding wash at my workplace. Basically household bleach marketed as "outdoor bleach". I could not believe the difference it made - outside of the building looked brand new and the windows were crystal clear. you don't even have any of those water spots. That stuff is amazing.

Yeah old wood is very fragile I moved to a new rental home this year and I bought a 1600 PSI 1.2 gallons per minute pressure washer in even something that week started peeling the wood

Dan any suggestions on chems for dark blue hardy board? Should I mix a little weaker than 10% SH? Have you ever used SH on the dark blue before?
I would have went with green tip and straight Clorox pro outdoor deck & fence. Stuff works great. Even out of a foam cannon!
and you would be replacing the rotted wood as your green tip pealed it off. Pay attention to detail

10 minutes with my config
In the UK we use 14/15% sodium hypochlorite on concrete garden slabs to remove black lichen. Brilliant result.

How would the 10% sh work in a 2.5gpm machine, would it be the same as with what you’re using or would the difference in gpm mean I need to dilute more or stronger sh?

Moss? I think you need pressure to peel the moss off the surface.
Hey Dan great video! I have a question- a lot of professionals claim that in order to soft wash a deck/house you only need a “low pressure” tip to rinse and then everything will wash off. however all professionals also have very powerful washers so wouldn’t ur “rinse tip” be a lot more powerful than everyone else’s? My pressure washer is 3100 psi vs professionals who are using 4000-5000 psi so if I attach a rinse tip to my washer it doesn’t look like I’m getting the same pressure as I see pros online rinsing. The side of my brick house has green patches of algae and it’s not working to just to “Soft wash” does my point make sense or are all pressure washer rinse settings the same pressure. Waiting anxiously for an answer thanks!
If you watched this video you would’ve seen me put my hand in front of my black tip so that should answer your question about pressure washers having different pressures but using the same tip. I always say you cannot use bleach to clean brick, you have to use pressure so get up there with your white tip and knock off the crud. If you want to use bleach it’s going to have to be stronger so it’s going to hurt your plants and grass

Hello. I will just be using garden hose. What do you recommend for just a wooden deck with oil based stain. The wood has some green moss/algae growing. I don’t want to mess the deck up by using the wrong mixture. Could you please provide materials and exact ratios to use. As well as structions on how to apply and rinse?
The house is a log cabin with solid stain. Would I also be able to use the same solution for the deck to clean off the log cabin with solid stained siding?

Hello! Newbie here, I bought an electric pressure washer recently. You mentioned you are spraying bleach on the wood, how does the machine do that? I cant mix anything with my pressure washer just water, so is this a different type of pressure washer that lets you mix chemicals? Thanks!
when using the 10% SH straight and my machine has a built in injector that the instructions claim dilutes it 20:1 if that mix isn't strong enough for surface/deck cleaning how would I go about increasing the strength of the product hitting the surface if the machines injector isint adjustable
There are high pressure chemical injectors (aka downstream injectors) that are sold for a little as 20 bucks on amazon.
Bleach is highly corrosive and will eat away the internals of your pressure washer. Maybe if you're thoroughly rinsing afterward with water it will wash out the excess, but the prolonged exposure however small the increments will deteriorate.
If you were to purchase the downstream injector it would add many hours of service to your pressure washer pump and also be a more concentrated wash solution.

Dan when washing a house can the bleach be diluted in the bucket to make it go farther. I have a large house and my pressure washer sucks chemical quickly out of the bucket? If so what do you recommenced as a dilution rate?
Yes, dilute it more. Add 1/3 bleach to 2/3 water and see if it cuts thru the yuk. If not, add a bit more bleach and take notes. Once you get it figured out... there ya go!
Your using 10% sh what is your GPM and dispenser as I am using a 1.5 gm machine with a 450ml dose tank my sums are shoddy I have 10% in a 20l container and I wish to deck wash
Did you use straight 10% sh to the siphon? And if I have a 2 pump gallon sprayer with 10% sh how should I mix it because you have a 5% sh mix ratio but what if I have a 10%
I always use 10% or less straight to the siphon with no pre-dilution. My injector is 20:1. But 20:1 with a lot of volume so if you are using a sprayer, you will want to mix it a bit stronger than 20:1 to help cut the yuk. Start thin and add as necessary

I use it on everything! Your smaller unit will work just as well, it just may require a second coat since it will deliver about half the total volume as a 4-5 gpm. Dwell around 20 minutes

I'm new to using pressure washers. I bought one that has a soap tank bit not sure how to use it. I threw all paperwork away from the washer, thinking I wouldn't need it😂. My question is how does my washer know I only want soap at times? Do I have to use a certain tip to only get soap or can i use any pf the tips? Thanks for any help and great work. Now I have to see if my pump also is a down stream pump so I am able to use bleach.
Use the black tape that has a big hole, that will allow high volume flow which will cause a siphoning affect off of that tank and will pull your chemical into the stream. Make sure the valve from the tank is open

I would not be able to answer that question without knowing what ratio the downstream chemical injector is siphoning at. Take the 12.5% and thin it out by 2:1. In other words, put 2 gallons of 12.5% in a bucket with 1 gallon of water, and siphon that

Hey Dan. I enjoy your videos. I use a lot of the things I've learned on your channel in my full time hustle. Quick question: Pressure washer instructions always say to turn your machine off if you are not pulling the trigger for a few minutes. Something about the pump overheating. I know most pressure washers have relief valves but, what are your thoughts on that? That explanation would make a great video.
My advice is to follow the instructions given per machine and as experience is gained, folks will do what they figure out. Any advice from me other than that would be irresponsible

Can you use the same recipe on asphalt roofs with the low pressure?
A roof will need a stronger mix. Most people use a dedicated softwash system to deliver a 3%-5% mix on roofs.

Sure
What do you NOT put your SH mix on?
I don’t put it on surfaces like driveways and sidewalks because the rinse water would then become illegal to run off and I would have to have a way of trapping and collecting the rinse water

10%? How did you get that hot of a mix from downstreaming?
No sir. When we reference 10% 12% 8% we’re talking about the actual bleach in the bottle at the time of purchase. Look at the label of a bottle of Clorox bleach and it’ll say active ingredients sodium hypo chlorite 7% or 8% or 10%. That is what we are referencing.
