- In this video we rebuild a Land Rover Discovery 2 engine, specifically the 4.6L Bosch. We had to pull the engine due to a oil pump failure that destroyed all the bearings. We show all the steps in this video from the bottom end with pistons and bearings as well as top end with the heads and everything else. We also throw some custom bumpers on. Enjoy the video, if you have any questions or comments feel free to reach out! Vive Mas! More content is available on instagram via @xplormor_offroad and @errrry_outdoor

Is the audio just rough or is the engine sounding rough?
It sounded a little rough in the beginning. We ended up pulling it back out and going through it again
@@EverydayOutdoor great Video guys, I'm doing the same to my 04 4.6 same problems bearings burned up # 4 cam bearing walked into the lifter oil pump gear was broken. Im curious what made you pull the motor again? what did you find wrong? Thanks

its like 4 hours long but yeah I gotchu haha
@@EverydayOutdoor Would love it as well. Maybe I'll give it a shot with my 2004.
Can this engine work eith Defender 110 300 tdi
Would you like to rebuild mine for me please lol it’s knocking like somebody is trying to bust out of the engine!
Haha thats a common problem with these! Where you located?
@@EverydayOutdoor Somerset Ky but I’ll drive it out to you! Just got the M S transmission fixed by replacing the XYZ switch. Also went ahead and replaced the cam shaft sensor as well.
It is likely a cylinder sleeve starting to slip up and down. You need a reman block. They pull the cylinder liners, and machine a groove around the top of the cylinder, then replace liners with a shoulder to keep the liners from dropping. It was a flaw in the original engine design.
How much did the rebuild cost with machine work?
Without double checking I believe it was around 650$ for the rebuild kit and the machine work and then an additional 350$ or so to get the other crank ready to go. So about 1K total plus all the little stuff like oil and beer haha.
@@EverydayOutdoor where did you guys get the rebuild kit from?
@@Well.BoughtPhotos Thats a good question , let me see if i can find a link to it.
@@EverydayOutdoor Did you ever find the link?
All that work to put the wrong coolant in?
Can you update on motor in the future would love to see how it is holding up after a few thousand miles
Yeah we showed the engine after 10K miles in the video actually around 7:40
Rtv sealant on the oil pans gaskets and valley pan 😬
Gotta make sure shes sealed up. These things love to leak
Newer Valley pan and later oil pan gaskets are specifically designed not to take rtv sealant.
Nice job other than this engine takes Dex-cool antifreeze.
How much you spend on parts ?
