Looks like a gov-lock (or the newer eaton locker for which the carrier looks the same). If it was an open diff you'd be able to see the spider gears through the case.
That is the newer 14 bolt aam 10.5. Its the same as the older style but with disc brakes and gov lock. The 11.5 is the aam that come in the diesel trucks. That 10.5 is way more stout than the 11.5 due to the fact it has the pinion support to eliminate deflection. I have the 10.5 n my Tj and my 6.7 cummins has the 11.5.
Have done some research since that video and also had to work on my dad's 2500HD and replace pinion bearings (long story). Also found that u joint size changes amoung variations of models in the same year. That is why I love working on new things, always something to learn.
To tell you the truth I do not know. I have hauled pretty heavy and beat on my duramax throughout the years and it seems to hold up. Several pulling trucks out there as well with that axle. If weight is a concern I know they are a little heavier.
Single wheel axles are actually shorter in width than dually axles. There are several things that go with changing over, but end result would be narrower that a standard dueally.
Since your comment, I have swapped my single wheel over to a commercial 19.5 dually. The video is up on our channel and you can see the spacer using to correct the width.
Thanks for the input. We have made some sound equipment purchases since the filming of this video that has helped us. We still have a lot to learn but we are making progress. Thanks for watching!
@@wrenchbenders Np, bud, sound equipment is always a sound investment. I'll be checking out your other videos and hopefully subscribing. Thanks for responding, and sorry for the pun.
An uncle of mine put a Chevy axle in his old international. He said it wouldn’t pull as much weight but it improved his highway cruising speeds.
Between that and parts availability is why I am doing all this. Not looking to haul 10 tons of grain in the back of it anymore. Lol

If you scatter that, you might as well go with Rockwells!

Btw guys how did this hold up on that beast of a truck?
Doing good so far. Have driven several times and even somewhat have burnouts with it. Have not swapped the engine yet.
Didn’t change to 2010 to 11.5
Is the 11.5 worth building for a rock crawler?

Can I run dual wheels on my SRW 14 bolt full floater? How much wider will the outer tire be?

Need to adjust your music volume down. Can barely hear you talk but get blasted by the music.
