    I just built a walnut countertop for an island (30x48) and will be installing an undermount sink. This video was absolutely the best and most useful, and professional video that I've found. Exactly the procedure that I was looking for. Thank you for putting this video together. Signed, Travco Construction

    This is a great video but a little more info would be helpful. I'm a weekender without much router experience and I burned up a flush cut router bit on an acacia butcher block countertop. Probably running too fast, but I'm thinking that acacia might be harder than the countertop in the video too. I'm trying again with a straight bit making several passes so I can bite off less than the full depth of a longer flush cut bit like used in the video. So in general some pointers about tools being used would add a helpful element to these videos. Probably a lot of viewers are amateurs.

    I'm about to cut a hole in a bar that I have been working on for the past 1.5 years off and on. I came across this video and it was exactly what I was looking for. We are also installing an under mount sink in a slab of red oak. I was planning on using Rubio Monocoat on it. Would you recommend this top coat? Also, how did you seal/mount the undermount sink? Anything special other than the install kit that comes with it?

    • @CarpentryPlus
      @CarpentryPlus  Год назад +2

      I've personally never used Rubio but I hear good things so I'd say you should be fine. I used the mounting hardware that came with the sink and sealed it with silicone.

    • @CarpentryPlus
      @CarpentryPlus  18 дней назад

      In this instance the radius of the router bit was a close match to the sink corners.

    • @CarpentryPlus

    • @CarpentryPlus
      @CarpentryPlus  9 месяцев назад

      I don’t really think it’s necessary as this is a rough cut staying inside the lines to be cleaned up with the router later.

    Just did mine yesterday used brand new jigsaw, new fine tooth blade took, my time thought it looked good while cutting then all said and done my edges were not even remotely squared blade must have bent somehow I'm really hoping to get it dead nuts but very very little room for error

    how did you make the corner cuts on the template? Did you use a jig for those? Could you explain this as that's critical to being able to make the cut.

    • @CarpentryPlus
      @CarpentryPlus  Год назад +2

      The template is made of 4 individual pieces of plywood that we pocket screwed together giving us crisp clean inside corners. We then use a 3/4" diameter flush cutting router bit which happens to match (close enough) the inside corners of the sink we were using. There are other ways of doing it but that's how we did it here.

    • @chrisgermain4876
      @chrisgermain4876 Год назад

      @@CarpentryPlus thank you! So basically 4 pieces with square corners and rounded them with the router bit?

    • @CarpentryPlus
      @CarpentryPlus  Год назад +5

      @@chrisgermain4876 I didn't actually round the corners of the template. they were left square and when you run the router but inside the template it will leave a radius corner whatever size the router bit is.

    Does a 3/4” bit cut better than a 1/2” or does it matter?

    • @CarpentryPlus
      @CarpentryPlus  6 месяцев назад

      Probably doesn't matter. I have both and the 3/4 matched the sink better.

  • @ic3p1k
    @ic3p1k 8 месяцев назад

    Can I just use a router bit with a bearing at the bottom and let it ride on the sink instead of using a template?
