- After a few years of mowing the yard with a push mower I have finally purchased a riding mower. This is the Hustler Raptor 42" zero turn mower. After my first ride I have to say I am impressed. Very nice machine.

I can't wait for spring. I just bought a Raptor HD. I realized that having a seat with arm rests makes it easier to steer. The armrests give my elbows an anchor to make more subtle steering movements even on rough ground.
I can see the arm rests being helpful. My yard is not that large so its ok. ... And these hills dont allow for all that much subtle steering.

Nice, I know it was a new world for me when I got mine. Cut my 2.5 acre mow time considerably! Congrats!!
With that much acreage you definitely have to have some type of riding mower.
Congratulations. I am too jealous. Unfortunately, now I dread more than ever mowing my field of weeds tomorrow with my 22 inch push mower in the 100 degree Texas heat. Maybe I will just get some RoundUp.
This mower is amazing. After using it once I never want to push mow again. 100 degrees is no fun. We used to have those days when we lived in NM.
congratulations man im happy for you. i got a 2018 raptor limited 52" this spring and it changed my life.best thing i ever bought for myself. have 1 acre and it cut my mowing time in half my old troybilt lawn tractor was a lot of work that zero turn is effortless.enjoy
Thank you! This thing is amazing! I got the 42" so that I can go in to my gait. I am happy that you are enjoying your machine.

Max's Garaj Mahal, I just sent a request to join the Facebook group. I’m in the market for a zero turn, and I’ve narrowed the brand down to Hustler. Now, I’m looking for recommendations on which model.
The raptor 42" has been amazing for the first year. Looking forward to the second year. This mower really takes the hill well.
@@nickschaefer1980 Think I have you in now. Check and send me a message in the group. Lots of good information available in the Hustler Mower Owners Group.
Hey that's a really nice mower... Just one suggestion get an hour meter installed and it will help you with your maintenanc on the machine then you don't have to remember and add the hours up and try to remember
That is a good idea. I think this model can have an hour meter installed with little trouble.
Always throttle up to 100% when your just driving and definitly when cutting sir. Nice rig
Just curious but why do you have to throttle up 100% when you’re just driving it with blades off? Oil pressure or something?
Not sure. But it does work way better at 100%.
You have to have 100% because of your oil pressure and making sure all your components are being lubricated properly.
Lethal Ninja you can ride a motorcycle and drive a car without throttle 100%. I don’t think it matters. They hydraulics work better at 100% but engine oil doesn’t matter.
@@JonBecker81 Well that's what i was told about lawnmowers. They are built to run at full throttle while mowing to properly lubricate the components
dang it man...straight lines, straight lines. haha j/k congrats!
Haha you have seen my hill? It would be a miracle to drive straight.
@@LandtoHouse yeah buddy.. looks fun going downhill. You could sled that beast on a trash can lid in winter lol
Check on some chains for that ride... it will aerate your soil for you and this winter you can plant grass... I've had a cub cadet for ten yrs now and it's 42"... zero turn tractor... love it.. I mow hills and all.. can't beat that hydrostatic drive and low ground weight with the wide stance...
This machine has surprised me at how well it handles Hills. Planting grass has been a pain. It grows about 2" tall then dies.
Be sure and check the linkages that hold the deck frequently. Congrads.
Thank you. I will have a look!
Hello from Melbourne Australia, nice ride on, time to start to build a workshop and garage. I think.
I have the workshop almost complete. But definitely want to build a carport.
How is this mower holding up? Do you still love it. Any advice for someone looking at a hustler ztr?
This mower is still going strong! Used it an hour 2 days ago. This is the only hustler I have used.
I've been looking at this exact same model but was unsure about how it will perform on hills. I'm sold now. Just for giggles, any idea what degree your hill is? Mine is 16 degrees. It looks like yours may be a bit steeper so I think I'll be fine. Great video.
In my research I was trying to find a mower that would take Hills the best. People said that this one did really well and I have to agree. I'm not sure what the slope is but it's up there. If the grass is wet it slides a bit but when it's dry out no problems
Did you try to cut horizontal on the hill yet? It looks about the same slope as mine and I am in the market..Thanks
Not yet. I get a little freaked out even when on the top. I just go up and down.
Hello can you post a video on how to change the belt please
Will this fit on my 4x6 trailer?
How is the ride to a riding mower?
This mower is fantastic for the Hills here in the mountains. I would not attempt the hill in the front of my house on a regular riding mower. The ride can be a little bit bumpy but it's not bad.
i like this mower..any issues?
No issues at all so far.
@@LandtoHouse it seems to be best zero turn in that price point from all reviews i have seen on it...
I have used it for 2 years now. My hill is serious and the mower takes it well. The only issue I can think of is the seat. After an hour of mowing it gets tiresome.
What's the durability on it. I plan on buying one to cut some yards next summer.
It takes my hill like a champ. The deck is welded and does not bend when hitting rocks. I feel this will last a very long time.
@@LandtoHouse I appreciate it. This is within my price budget too.
@@theerealatm I spent a few months browsing different machines before settling on the Hustler Raptor. It's the first zero-turn I've owned but I could not be more pleased.
How wide is it from back tire to back tire outside to outside
Nothing purrs like a kawi!
that beast rocks
I have the same mower it’s too small, along with everything comes loose. Make sure you go over all the bolts every so often
Good advice. Probably time that I go over it head to toe make sure everything is right
Land to House they are good mowers just need some loctite to make them more secure, all mowers should have suspension just for that reason lol
@@LandtoHouse tighten transmission hydrostatic bolts. 1/2 inch nut left and right sides
When engaging the blades, should the RPM's be low or high?
To engage the blades make sure the throttle is it 2/3. To disengage The blades put the throttle at half
Low
ever try mowing hill side ways?
It's very frightening! My hill exceeds the recommended max angle for the mower. I do some wheelies coming up.
No foot pedal to raise the deck?
It's a hand pull.
2.15 horsepower? I think your decimal is in the wrong place 😂 very jealous. You should throw some seeds out there and give it something good to mow.
Oh.... yes that makes a difference. That extra 18 horsepower haha
The grass is a little better this year. It just needs some fertilizer
My raptor 42 left high grass on the left side even when mowing slowly. Took it back and got refund. I see people mowing low but never at 3”. I was told fabricated deck has no vacuum and needs special blades.
Been using one since 2006, mine has a. Switch. Under the seat to kill the blade and engine.
This is a great mower. There is a switch in the seat that kills the engine when the weight is removed. But if the blades are not going the seat will not turn off the engine. Its perfect that way.
How much did it cost
Delivered to my house was around $1800 I think... it works well!
good mower however they ride very rough.
The ride is a little rough. For my small ish yard its not too bad.
You definitely need some more practice, with muscle memory you won’t be wiggling back-and-forth up-and-down the hill 😀
Make it nice and straight like a football field 🏈
Where your arm rests?
This small model does not have them.

You would think, that you would be absolutely sure BEFORE you bought it you are going in a gate.
I didn't see an hour meter
Thats optional on this model.
Need to learn how to mow
Yes indeed! Brand new mower.
that is the most sorry excuse for a lawn that I have ever seen
This is a new construction home. The yard looked even worse before haha.
@@LandtoHouse same with my lawn. Idk where my contractor brought in dirt from but it had so many weeds n junk plants in it... smh
We did not even have dirt brought in. Its just bad clay soil.
Nice equipment, I must share a one good hint, because it may be the same on most of Mowers. Mine is Stiga Park 220 and this summer I made one mistake. I left keys in, and forgot to turn off ignition, and you may quess what happend? Empty battery, and I ended up to buy a new one. So now on I always take keys off when end job. It may be also good for safety that kids can't start it, however Stiga needs brake pressing same time as starting.
That is a good tip. I normally only leave keys in thing's while I am up moving rocks or sticks. Otherwise keys go in my pocket. I wonder what was draining the battery? Do you have any lamps on displays?
No I don't have any lamps that drains battery, but I heard that cheap ignition systems may drain battery because if they happened to stop just that spark position, it just charges ignition system forever and may even brake it. But this is just what I heard, if someone have better information, please correct me! Anyway, life is learning every day ;)
