Keep in mind that a model of a tesseract is a 3D representation of a 4D object. And since you’re looking at a screen and everything is 2D, what you see is a 2D representation of a 3D representation of a 4D object.

The 4th dimension could not be time though, as dimension means proportions, the 3 proportions in our dimension are height, width and length. If you've watched one of those videos where it shows a 3D ball going through a 2D space, you could use that information for the 4th dimension. A ball getting larger, smaller, and dissapearing. The idea of 4D being time is a theory. You could also argue they 4D is another axis, just like 2d to 3d, it adds an axis. A 4D sphere put through a 3D world would appear to be a bigger and then smaller sphere. This theory comes from the idea that a 3D sphere put through a 2D world would look like a circle getting bigger and then smaller circle, it’s just the crossection of the 3D object in relation to time. This is where the theory comes from I think.

@@norman783 yea that's what he did wrong here, in our reality the fourth dimension IS time, but, in the case he is talking about spatial dimensions. So the fourth dimension wouldn't be time, but just another dimension. Imagine, height, width, depth, and gledth. Same with the 5th, realistically it would be another spatial dimension.
Note: All the images for 4 and 5D he showed were representations of a 4D and 5D object, represented in 3D spinning. Basically he even showed spatial 4D and 5D, but was talking about something completely different.

Here’s an easier example, a 1 dimensional object can perfectly been seen by the 2nd dimension, then this goes for the 2nd dimension having the 3rd seeing it perfectly, the 3rd can be fully seen when in the 4th, and the 4th can be seen perfectly by the 5th. So basically you can perfectly see the dimension below yours. Hope this cleared it up

We can't understand 4D or any dimension that's different from 3D really. It's the kind of thing our brain can't comprehend and never will, just like infinity. Literally nothing is finite if you think about it. Everything is infinitely big or small depending on what you look at, for instance, if you looked at a smooth screen, it would look smooth from your eye, but the smaller details you look at, the more jagged it gets. So when we measure something, it's infinitely approximated, I guess.

You kind of got it wrong? A tesseract is a representation of a cube including the 4th spatial dimension, also known as a hyper cube. Time has nothing to do with a tesseract.
Time could be seen as a dimension though, you can think of it as frames of a video laid out in a line, with the line being the “dimension” of time, and the current frame being the present.
Time is the 4th dimension in a temporal sense. It isn’t the 4th spacial dimension

time is the first temporal dimension (we have a time-LINE not a time-TESSERACT) while 4d is just the fourth spacial dimension. We are not outside of time if you look at it from a 2d perspective.
Spacetime is not 4d but 3d plus 1d time, and after all a theoretical model that makes it possible to visualize relativity.

@@ninomarcosison8039 While time is technically the “fourth” dimension from our viewpoint, it is a temporal dimension, which can be though of as a different “class” of dimension from spatial dimensions (the first 3 we are familiar with). However , the 4th spatial dimension is much different than time, instead being a dimension of physical space rather than time. It is the 5th dimension, per se, but it is only the fourth spatial dimension. A tesseract is the equivalent of a cube in the 4th spatial/5th dimension, and has as much to do with time as a square or cube does. (keep in mind, as we are 3 dimensional beings and can’t visually comprehend the fourth dimension, the “tesseract” shown in the video is a 3 dimensional shadow of a tesseract)

The concept of microdimensions exist in physics, but we know for certain that we don't have one for electromagnetism as he described it. In string theory, it uses the concept of microdimensions to explain mass and relativity, with the idea being that speed is a universal constant for all things, but things with mass loop around the microdimension, losing apparent time there. Whether this is how mass functions or not, we aren't yet able to say, but the passage of time is *not* equatable to the rest of the dimensions. Whilst yes, in terms of general relativity, time is completely identical to space, but when applying special relativity, since things can't go backwards in time, it's not a proper dimension.
TL;DR, yes, you're right. On small scales, time looks identical to a dimensions, but when moving really fast or at any other physical extreme, it's absolutely not so. There are countless incredible sources for visualizing the 4th spatial dimension online, but this video is certainly not one of them

4D is not time. The animation of a tesseract is rotating the tesseract, viewing it from different angles. If a 4D object passed through our 3D plane, we would see a 3D slice of the object. If we could see in 4D, we would be able to see inside of an object, not like x-ray vision, but like how we see squares on paper. That is wild.
Right on! My understanding of a tesseract is the presentation of a cube that you see at every angle at once. Thus, it is the max representation of a 4d-perspective of a 3d-cube within a 3d-environment. It is lacking in that, as you said, it is still missing the representation of the 4th dimension.
4D isn’t time, but it’s how we measure our time. Like potential 2nd dimensional beings may measure their time in the third dimension. To fourth dimensional beings, the fifth dimension is time.

You forgot to add that it is all extremely theoretical and we don't actually know that the fourth dimention exists, or if it is what we presume it is, let alone dimentions above. Our mind also can't comprehend any dimension other that the third one, because that's the one we live in. All of the other "examples" are made in third dimention and aren't actually in any other dimention.

this video is from S2 of Marvel's agents of shield. The science is crazy accurate for a marvel production. (probably because the writers were actually good at their job) It helped me understand time is just an illusion.

well yes and no we cant see 4 but when you rotate it exchanging its dimensions it makes the 4th visible and hides another if you could see in 4d then you wouldn't need to rotate it so thats on us has nothing to do with it.
