      dont forget to be realistic - you will need to do a bit of work whichever plan you use for learning uke I have spent months studying how to play Ukelele and discovered an awesome website at Arthurs Uke Blog (check it out on google)

    Hi Everyone :). I just wanted to make a little disclaimer for this video. These are just my opinions, and I am aware that not everyone is alike. Some things will work for others, some things will not. As always, my intention is to try to help. These have been compiled from my teaching experience and from people asking me how to help them pinpoint certain difficulties that they have been experiencing while playing/learning from the comments section. I love you all, and have a great day.

    Hi,
    I’ve been playing guitar for close to 40 years, and uke for about 10. This is a great video. I learned all these lessons the hard way, for you to post a quick guide is great.
    Big learning points for me was getting fingers right up to the fret, and not putting your fingers flat, 90 degrees is the way to go.
    Thanks for sharing, you’re a legend.
    Clayton.

      I completely understand where you're coming from. Barre chords were very difficult for me when I first started, and it took me a while. It's good to know that once you master one barre chord, the others will be easier. You can do it, and don't give up :).

    Thank you for the video. Will you address my left hand position? When I change chords, the neck of the ukulele falls down. I was told to keep my thumb behind but then how do I support the instrument. I read I should press my right arm. I cannot figure out the proper way to hold the ukulele so I can change chords easily. Thank you!

    I'm learning the ukulele. I hold it so I can see the strings and I've been struggling with a barre chord. I also thought it was better to place my fingers in the middle of each fret rather than closer to it so I've gained lots of useful tips from this video to put into practice. Thank you! Hi Katie! You have inspired me to pick up my guitar again! Sadly I was one of those people who would comapare themselves to others,and because I was impatient, I just gave up. I want to try again and really learn both the guitar and the uke. Until I can get a nice uke, I will go back to my guitar. I also have a question. My guitar has just been sitting in my office on a stand collecting dust and cobwebs. I am wondering besides getting the dust off of it, how do I clean it? I know you have a whole video on insturment maintanance, but my guitar is in 100 times worse condition than yours, LOL (There I go making comparisons again 😝). Anyway thank you for reading and thanks so much for your videos! They are a wealth of fun and inspiration. With gratitude ~ Ami Brink

    • @OneMusicSchool

      Well, I would say take it to a guitar tech. You can get it set up again and restrung. If the repair is beyond what you think you can do, I would say take it to someone else to assess it and see what needs to be done. I hope that helps :). I'm glad that you're wanting to play again, and don't ever stop :).

    I've been playing ukulele for about a year and a half but I want to play guitar so what are some things I'll need to learn for guitar

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  7 лет назад +2

      Hi, and thanks for watching. I don't think you'll need much because most of my students that play ukulele have don't a difficult time switching over to guitar, but here a few suggestions. If you are having trouble with strumming, try a thinner pick. Once you are more comfortable, try switching to a thicker pick. Try leaning as many songs with open chords first. If want to try barre chords, try to find a song that only has one to practice barring across the entire fretboard. I hope that helps.

    With the comparisons ,that happens with all types of artist (musicians,artist,actors, dancer ,etc.) .Myself personally I'm learning how to play uke ,I like acting ,I can paint and draw ,I love dancing but I am by now means great. I like doing lots of different things because I have a short attention span. One day I'll want to draw then for the next week I'll work my butt off practicing line or vocal warm up. For the past 3 weeks I've been am most obsessively practicing with my ukulele. And I ain't going to lie I (pardon my language) fucking suck with all of the things I do.But I love doing them ,I might be bad but I have fun. Okay I'm going to end this rant because I have no idea where I went with it(short attention span strikes again).

    The wrist thing was interesting because it’s the same in drums with using your wrists and not the arms

    using The Tips Of My Fingers Came Naturally For Me Lol

    2 problems.. i cant use my finger tips because of my nails. If i cut them any shorter my fingers would bleed. Second my thumb gets tired holding down frets ): help!

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  6 лет назад

      Hmmm, how long have you been playing? It also might be the action of your instrument. The strings might been too far away from the fretboard causing you to push down on them harder. It may not be you at all. It might be your instrument.
