Yeah! I’m so happy that you liked this video and that it helped. I need to do more muting, left hand muting, and scratching tutorials for the future 😀😀.
It seems so simple but i cant get it. Its impossible to strum while setting your palm down all in one instance because you either smack your palm too hard, or the strings buzz still. Hknestly Whats the diference between that and just slapping the body to mute the strings
That's a good question. The chucking allows you to keep the motion of strumming while playing. The slapping or muting with your palm can work, but ti takes more time and would be difficult if you wanted to strum faster. Don't give up. It may take some time, so keep practicing. I didn't get it right away either :).
long hours palm chucking practise...hands n wrist in pain😆 and before i chuck my ukelele in the corner.....i finally did it😱😱😆 am on my polishing practice now......yeheyyyy💃💃💃. thanks so much to u.
I was wondering why I couldn't do the chuck and it turns out I've been pressing the strings too hard and bringing my palm down too quick! It created this horrific buzzing noise but now I can do good chucks!! Thank you so much :)
I'm so frustrated but having so much fun learning. I have a major issue with the palm chuck. I'll keep working at it. Thank you so much for making this so much fun.
Thank you so for much for covering the palm technique! All the other videos I found only mentioned the muting with your thumb technique which I was struggling with a lot. The palm technique was a lot easier for me!
Thank you Katie, I'm finding your chuck strumming technique a lot more helpful and (to be honest) an easier technique than the technique I was trying to follow on RUclips. I guess that's just the way it is, some techniques one finds easier to follow than others, it does not mean however that the other technique is wrong.
Thank you so much! I have been struggling with chucking (especially when there is an unmuted "up" after a chuck). I have watched many videos, tried all different kind of methods, and could not get. However, today I found your video and tried the mute/flick technique and got it instantly! Thanks.
One Music School thanks so much for the reply! i’ve learned everything i know from you :) you made playing the ukulele so much more enjoyable and pain free! have a great day 💓
I watched this video a few times and was so determined, I practiced the same chords chucking over and over, now I can do it easily! I like how you put words to the rhythm (I was thinking 'i think i can, i think i can' as i was learning) Thank you so much!
Finally I can do it , thank you very much ! I looked it over and over again until I got it ! In just a few minutes I understood how to do it. Very well explained!
I was trying to learn a new song, but I just couldn't catch how the 'teacher' in the tutorial did the chuck (I'm a beginner, so I didn't even hear of it), so thank you so-so much, this video helped me a lot!
Thank god there is the comment section. xD I´m not the only one having problems with the second technique. It´s good to read that for most people after nearly throwing the ukulele into a corner it started to work. So I will keep on trying!
@@OneMusicSchool Finally it works! I tried it wrong in the beginning. It looks like you mute and then strum but could it be that you strum and instantly mute? Because that way (for me) it works. I just have to mute fast enough after strumming.
I’m trying to learn I’m yours by Jason Mraz and the proper strumming technique is DUD mute. I have been really struggling but this video really helped me out :)
AWWWWWW Thank you so much! I'm so happy that this made sense to you, and I know that chucking can be a really intimidating concept. Thank you so much for watching, and have a great day :).
I’m so confused I keep on getting a weird very high pitch buzzing like sound every time I try to mute/chunk The song is very fast so I need the palm mute but that buzzing noise won’t go away. Is there a way to prevent this?
I completely understand where you are coming from. The 3rd one was the hardest for me as well, and it took me months to get it. First, work on the fingers/thumb strumming, and the try just placing your palm on the strings to make the chucking sound without a chord. It may not sound the best at first, but keep practicing. It gets better over time. I hope that helps :). Keep playing, and you can do it!
i am the most patience person when it comes to teaching other BUT WHEN IM LEARNING SOMETHING, IF I DON'T GET IT THE FIRST TIME, I GIVE UP. LIKE I DONT KNOW WHAT AM I LIKE THIS. Literlly i am so good at math so i usually just need one example and i understand, but things that need practice desperate me so much and i can only practice like ten minutes of the same thing and if i didn't get i stop.
+yash raj I'm so happy that this helped you 😀. Thanks KS for taking the time to watch, and thank you for leaving such an encouraging comment. Have a wonderful day.
I can't find a way to mute using my palm, whatever I do! I feel like I've tried every position I could possibly place my hand/wrist. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?
Hey there, thank you for your videos. I have a tiny question, is it normal to feel some tension on the right shoulder while playing a song with "chuck"? I am learning to play "Sick of being told" and I am noticing a little tension on the right shoulder. I guess it is because of the chuck. Thank you teacher =)
Hmm, perhaps try touching the strings more lightly and release some of the pressure so that no stings are touching the frets. Another ting to try is to bring your hand closer to the body of the ukulele instead of trying to mute closer to the neck. I hope that helps :).
For the second way to chuck͵ do you hit your palm all the way on the board or just halfway? Because when I tried to chuck it didn't make a chucking sound·
Thank you so much, it helped me a lot!
+Ana Santos Yeah! I'm glad it helped and thanks for watching 🎶❤️😀.
I guess Im kinda off topic but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online ?
@Jasper Marshall I dunno I use flixportal. You can find it thru google:P -tripp
@Tripp Dennis thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it!
@Jasper Marshall no problem :)

+BreannaUnicornz That made me laugh!!!! Thanks for that😁.

This is the only video that mentions how to chuck on an up strum! Thank you!
Yeah! I’m so happy that you liked this video and that it helped. I need to do more muting, left hand muting, and scratching tutorials for the future 😀😀.
What did I learn from this video:
1. How to palm mute
2. “Muteflick”
3. The teacher is beautiful

YEAH!!! I'm so happy for you :). Pushing through frustration is tough, buts rewarding on the other side. I'm so proud of you!!!!
I so agree. Such a pain. Lol I hope to get it soon!

Thanks so very much !!

Nice that you showed 3 ways. I never saw the last one before. Very cool.
You even have a nice singing voice when chucking. LOL

Thank you. Could you tell me what songs you use the down with all fingers and a thumb up strunm for. I am a beginner and find your work helpful.
What kind of ukulele do you use? I love the sound!
toto online I am pretty sure she uses electric
It's a concert
It’s a Gretsch Concert
Yeah, what Diabo Intercept said. I believe it's from Gretsch's "Roots" series.
Every ukulele sounds the same
Great tutorial. Thanks!

Please do a tutorial on how to strum chuck for the song None Like You by Joshua Aaron. Thanks

@@OneMusicSchool you too it was very helpful!
My inner Ling Ling told me to practise. So I need to recover from my deep laziness and proceed to learn this chuck technique again.

Techniques ..😊🙏🙏
Love from India ..
It's work
Can u teach all the ukulele chords?
I tried to successfully pull of the first way, but then ended up doing the “mute flick” and then figured out it was an actual thing.
thank you! :")
How to do the muting/chucking when playing fingerstyle??
When I chuck it still make a sound... Not the chuck sound (left hand chuck)
Hmm, perhaps try touching the strings more lightly and release some of the pressure so that no stings are touching the frets. Another ting to try is to bring your hand closer to the body of the ukulele instead of trying to mute closer to the neck. I hope that helps :).
One Music School oh... I see. Thank You!! 😁😁
Finally understand
Yeah!!!! So happy this helped 😀😊.
thanks you alot......❤️
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
Which technique is most suitable for the typical „somewhere over the rainbow“-strum?
Hi and thanks for watching. I would say use technique Number 2.
One Music School Thank you so much!
For the second way to chuck͵ do you hit your palm all the way on the board or just halfway? Because when I tried to chuck it didn't make a chucking sound·
Yes, your plam needs to make contact with the strings first to mute them before your finger or pick hits the strings. I hope that helps.
Ohmahgad THANK YOU
Thank you so much for watching! I’m thrilled that this helped you.
DO BURNED BY GRACE VANDERWAAL
I don't understand how you do the last chucking pattern...? I can't get the strings to mute...
The last one may take a while to get used to, but don’t give up. You can do it 😀.
