    This build is truly amazing a so inspiring. I would almost expect the smell of fuel if the fill cap was open. Thank you Doug and Randy for taking the time to share such incredible talent. As a cabinet maker I’ve had to duplicate some intricate woodwork on historic homes, of course that’s 1:1 scale nothing at all like this but I can appreciate having to make what you can’t buy.

    Thank you for sharing this build. Indeed Randy, along with you and several other great builders have reached a level many would like to achieve. The need to share this knowledge allows the rest of us to perhaps pass over some of our failed attempt at perfecting some of the little details that stand out.
    Maybe someday a book with pictures will be written.
    Again thanks

    Firstly just let me quickly mention that I am a big fan of your channel. I am so glad that I happend upon it several months ago and look forward to the next video.
    Randy Derr's Corvette is simply amazing. I have a question about the dry transfers though. Randy mentioned using the film from the dry transfer system on his lazer printed waterslide decals to protect them. I was wondering whether this would work on decades old kit decals to prevent them from shattering as soon as they hit the water, or is there a simpler way to save old decals?

    • @randyderr9830
      @randyderr9830 2 года назад

      Thanks for the great question Sandy. While I have not actually tried applying the clear film to old kit decals, I don’t think it will work. Here’s why: The film is applied to laser printed images using a heated laminator. The clear film bonds to the image because the heat from the laminator re-melts the printed toner, creating the bond. Kit decals use inks, not laser toner for their images, and it is unlikely the clear film will bond to those inks. Sorry.

      Not sure what happened to that reply. As I was saying, I am not on either of those platforms, as I expect they could be a big distraction from building. Haha! Perhaps we can meet at a model show someday to compare notes. Best regards.

    • @thebangkoktimes
      @thebangkoktimes 2 года назад

      @@randyderr9830 Understood. Personaly I unashamedly use those platforms as a source of knowledge and for inspiration more than for contributing and have learned so much from fellow modelers which has improved my game. But, as you say, simply checking in on the people one follows can take up a fair bit of time each day.
      Unfortunately meeting up at a model show is unlikely (as much as I would love to) as I live way overseas. Anyway, thanks to "The Muse", it was lovely to meet you (virtualy at least) and admire your work. Happy Modeling.
