Good tips, and I would like to add the following. As others have stated, do not kill the landing party right away. You can leave 1 alive and still be able to board the ship. When you do board, kill everyone on board. However, if you exit the ship to take the remaining landing party, the ship will take off from the planet. Ask me how I know. Lol. If you kill all onboard, and then sit down in the pilot seat, make the ship your home, and you can then take out the remaining planet side enemies. If you do leave the ship before making it your home ship to kill all others, it will fly off the planet. When this happens, board your current home ship and leave the planet. You will find an enemy ship in space that does not attack. Board that ship, which will be the ship that left the planet. You will find all crew dead and can then take the ship.
If it does take off, go into space above the planet and it will be there in orbit and you can just dock with it. It happen to me, but I did not want the ship.
you can keep landing and coming back to orbit and it will refresh the loot and sometimes a turret or two inside. Nice for a few extra items before you fire on it and turn it into space junk if you don't want to bother selling it.
i found lot of class a ships but i cant fly them back to sell them because they cant make that distance. where can i sell my ships there or what can i do to take them home if they cant travel that far?
@kondigong8589 if you find a ship, whether on a planet heist or commandeered in space, do this. When you climb in the pilot seat, do not take off. What you want to do is go to the menu and view your ships. The ship you are in will the the current ship. Select the ship as your home. If you are on rhe ground, go ahead and exit the ship and hoof it back to your former home ship. If you are in space, when you leave the ship menu, you will start the un-dock process. Once you are able, highlight your former ship and dock with it. Board your former ship and proceed like normal. Set it as your home ship, and the next time you go to any ship technician, that ship will be available for doing what you wish, as long as you register it.

I never engage troops outside the ship. Just run into the landing bay. Even if the ship takes off you still have a chance to board it. I also use a scoped weapon to eyeball any ships landing while they're still in the sky. Saves you running half a mile to find a ship you don't want.
This sounds great, except that since the last Bethesda patch a while ago, in my game, ships land, but don't ever extend the landing bay. I haven't been able to steel a ship planetside since.
There's a common bug that causes ship encounters to have no crew and be inaccessible. Unfortunately once it happens, that's it. The only fix is to reload an earlier save or go into the next NG+. It happened to me along with a couple other quest breaking bugs in my first play through.
This tends to work for the first 2 or maybe if your lucky 3, then you need to wait a while to try again because after that you get UC ships landing you cannot take. Best place to do this is Huygens, the last system to the right and do the moons around Hugens VII.
If it takes off before you even get near you wouldn't be able to enter it anyway. If get to it and there are people coming off you only have to keep the landing party alive, or at least one of them it stays landed for you to board it
What is the "exposed" mechanic?? Not hating, just curious what is new? There are multiple folks who have been going to the moons with no atmosphere and doing this for a while. Did they change something in the last batch or the beta patch?
A lot of people are running into this problem. I spent a whole day deleting saves to get back to one where I could board ships again. Now it just happened again and I don’t know why. Another symptom of this problem that I get is that when Starborn Guardian ships land, no Starborn come out and I can enter their ship. Not knowing what else is broken, I’m going to stop playing until they fix it.
Of late i can get the ships to land, but they are closed, no open landing doors. Plus, if they do land, they are UC Longswords, and they are inaccessible to me. Really ticks me off, and I am not sure why this is happening
The other part to all these ships of is, you cant kill all of the explore party, kill all but one and it will stay landed and you can loot all the dead ones outside before boarding the ship. Also if you kill all the people and it takes off, it will attack your ship if you just take off from planet.
Nice work, just started NG+5 and cant wait to try this out to get a top new ship! Although in my experience, only planets in star systems which are inhabited have a chance of ships spawning. Good video. Not sure if it's the flat landscape or the fact that it's a moon. I find ships on moons more than planets. Another trick is to not engage the guys outside the ship. If you can sneak past them, that's the best option. Then ship starts to take off as soon as you you shoot your gun. I have two pieces of chameleon armor, and my armor has the sneak bonus mods on it. My sneak skill is maxed. I can sneak past just about anything. Even when they're looking at me, as long as I move slow enough :)
On XBox, they land all the time…for me the hatches don’t open and there are no landing parties. So they are worthless right now. Except for the Starborn ships. I can get them no problem. 😢
If you want to take a ship just completely ignore the landing party, wait for them to disembark and then just run straight into the ship. The enemies will still be around after you’ve taken their ship. If you start fighting before entering you risk being stuck in the ship as it takes off. And if you want to move around a bit faster always keep at least some amp in your quick menu, if not frostwolf if you can get enough of it. The only good part of this glitch is that all Starborn ships that land are now accessible since no crew comes out. I'm not on ng+, so I shouldn't have access to these ships. According to various Reddit threads, this seems to be a somewhat common problem. I enjoyed the ship stealing aspect of the game, so I hope it gets patched soon.
Nothing anyone playing few hours would discover. And it isn’t that accurate. Many others saying 💩 like this with a video. So I suppose it is yet another form of clickbait to get views. Ok. Enjoy.
I don't buy the level 75 system argument. I have gotten ships this way since the game came out (millions of credits in ships) and I find no difference in Hawking and the far worlds and some other systems. My best and most consistent drops in every NG have come from the Lunara system (Numitor and Reva's World, in particular) and Sol, oddly enough with VC ships dropping on Luna and the Va'ruun dropping on Mercury. I ahve seen no indication that player loot tables - at least in regards to ships - are impacted by system levels.
The amount of profit made from doing ship jacking is way too low to justify the time and effort needed, as by the time you have registered the ship to sell you make (possibly) 2-4k per ship per sale. Its really only worth doing when you are right at the beginning of your NG+ run. And even there after only if the ship is a III (C) class.
I spend like 600 hours on ship piracy half on the ground half in the space and on the ground I have situations like 15 moon landing and zero ships so saying that every time you will get ship is not really true, sometimes I have 10 in row sometimes 1 hour of nothing and its not predictable. I like more space piracy where you have real ship fight, boarding , nice fight and winning. Also what me and many people have after boarding to many or just many ships on the ground they starts landing without crew and its f boring. Space piracy is way better and give yo like 80% chance of spotting ship to fight if you jumping from planet to planet in specific system.
LOL mate! Can't believe you killed all the crew on the ground. As others have mentioned, always leave one alive, or the ship will immediately leave! Anyway... Just want to mention another handy tip, to avoid the "ships that land never open their bay door, and no crew leave the ship" bug which is mentioned below as being caused by a Bethesda update. It wasn't - it's a bug and it happens if you attempt to board a ship which then takes off with you still in the landing bay. If this happens, and you then fall out of the ship as it leaves the planet surface, you'll trigger the bug and no ships from that point on will open their bay door when they land. Which is why it's vitally important to SAVE before you attempt to take over a landed ship. If the above "falling out of the ship" scenario occurs, you should reload the save, or you'll be playing a permanently bugged game. And it'll also help if you manage to kill all the disembarked crew, causing the ship to bugger off... ;)
@@EldritchGod666 Ah rats. I did wonder whether that would turn out to be the case. Thanks for the heads-up! I really hope it's one Bethesda (or the modding community) can nail down for good, and fix!

Check my guide how to sell unregistered ships, 50-80k profit
And it'll also help if you manage to kill all the disembarked crew, causing the ship to bugger off... ;)
Champion, thanks bud! The inner loot goblin got the better of me 😂. Thanks for dropping by and supporting the channel I really appreciate it 🙏
There appear to be several triggers for this bug. I just had this happen to me for the second time without ever falling out of a landing bay.
@@EldritchGod666 Ah rats. I did wonder whether that would turn out to be the case. Thanks for the heads-up! I really hope it's one Bethesda (or the modding community) can nail down for good, and fix!
That ship that has the woman walking the alien is a random hidden space vendor btw lol
Yup and another version of the ship merchant landed is the guy who walks around with a robot.
i have bad luck , 9 out of 10 random landings are at least 800m away, half way there and boom the ship lift off , after A LOT of tries i managed to get 3 ships , had a bunch of UC ships that i was not authorized to fly , don't know why maybe i must be antagonizes with them . i just gave up , when i see one landing i don't even bother now lol
80% registration. where is the free :\
Check my guide how to sell ships without paying registration. Don’t ever pay it again, straight sale =]
