I remember chatting with at OLL '23 about this for PC thinking the same as you 'My viewers aren't PC gamers, they love the physical aspect' but there's something different with this same service convenient on an Xbox. I'm looking forward to grabbing it for myself.
I’m glad that you have reviewed this as I was looking at it yesterday I’m the same as you as I much prefer physical for retro games and was very sceptical but this has convinced me to give it a go I think it’s something that can exist alongside my original games Great review as always
I have to say Gem, I loved it. The guys at Antstream we're kind enough to give me a key, and I've been blown away with what I've seen so far. First game I tried was the Arcade game Psychic 5 from 1987, then I moved on to the Amiga with Cannon Fodder and The Chaos Engine. All run beautifully with no lag what so ever, its like Netflix for retro games. Brilliant.
I like that they are adding more indie/homebrew titles, and will be interesting to see which PS1 games they get. There are a lot of licensed games that I imagine will be impossible for this service to acquire though.
that seems like a uber awesome game service to get though, you did a very great job show-moteing it for them! was as usual, a much excellent video from yuh! always a much fun time to see what you have to show us or lead us in the right depot. take care and stay safe!!
The thumbnail for this video is awesome. Not only do you have a face with pure concentration on it, your cat looks totally mesmerised with what is on the screen too.
Never going to get many proper licensed titles on this service. The revenue return would be minimal and there is Zero incentive for publishers to support this when they can still sell single titles on switch, ps5 and Xbox for £5 (or more) a punt. Sega aren't going to license any games on this outside if perhaps something like sonic 1/ hang on/ columns/ streets of rage 1 (if you are lucky). Just token titles to lure you into their wider retro titles elsewhere. Very few publishers will support this, not when they are all looking into their own retro collections and sub services...
Yay! It’s nice to see a video on the service. My friend has been working for them for a little while now and that’s how I was introduced to it. Nice to see someone I follow trying them out and enjoying it :-)
I've just signed up for a year. I had it on pc but I rarely loaded up my pc as I game on consoles now. I have also followed you on antstream social . 😁
As others might have mentioned screen filter options would be a nice addition, but also an option for bezels on arcade games not specifically for the art which can be nice, but more in regard that many old arcade machines had instructions, moves, power ups etc. as information on the bezels which might be nice to have such (on the black bars on the side) to turn on or off.
I didn’t see them but all of the games are listed on their website: aarca.de/thegebs24 I make zero money from this click btw. Let me know what you think
What no Scanlines and Filters!!!!! Come on Antstream, are you serious!! This should have been the very first thing that was implemented into this program. These games are gonna look like crap. Retro gaming is all about replicating the old days, and that means CRT tv's. I have all my original consoles from the 80's, 90's and 00's I have these running through a ossc with the scanlines/filters active and it looks absolutely gorgeous, exactly how I remember playing them all those years ago. So, unless they put scanlines and filters in, then and only then, will I part with my money. Good review. Thanks.
I'm definitely a fan. I prefer a physical collection as well but there's something convenient about playing games on a service, especially with a Spectrum library you can't easily find anymore.
Great video... Certainly going to look into this... I've had a snes Bikermice from Mars itch that I've been meaning to scratch for months... hopefully it is on Antstream... or coming to it. Thank you
I wish there was a monthly subscription plan at around £5 or £6 for this, as I most likely would dip into the games for a 2-3 week period and then have a break for a couple of months and then dip in again. I wouldn't play them enough to warrant the £30 for the year sub or the £80 lifetime one but do REALLy want to play some of the C64, Amiga and SNES games (for me the golden era of gaming).
I’m definitely keeping my eye on this service for now, gonna wait to see how games are added & removed from the platform. I have faith in the devs and everyone behind this

I don't trust them. Why should i pay $140AUS for a "lifetime pass" edition when i hear about monthly or yearly subscription fees? Plus, streaming only, meaning if there is a slight glitch in the internet you lose connection....no thanks. I only wanted four games. The Indiana Jones adventures and the Super Star Wars trilogy from the SNES.
How comes the PlayStation games does not have tight controls I never played forty winks me because I never played it on the original PlayStation the controls is really loose maybe those gains was originally like that but I played Glover before it's not out yet so I got to see how loose the controller is on Glover

With you being a Brit, and the Zx spectrum having over 300 games on this service I was really hoping you might showcase the Micro computers a little more, you know, showing if games on Amstrad/speccy/c64 are playable. You didn’t and that’s disappointing. But no one else did either, I’ve checked a bunch of similar videos, but the other content creators are Americans, so maybe have an excuse. Perhaps a follow up?

1300 games 🎉 Ok so there will be new games added 🎉 But how many games will come to this antstream arcade? 1300 games now but are they gona stop at 4000 games maybe? No info about that anywhere?
I think services like this are great and I hope to see nothing but massive success for them and this is why…Every other form of media (Films, TV, Music) is preserved due to services like Netflix etc allowing you to view almost anything from years gone by and music streaming services allowing you to access any song, any album but gaming is the one medium where (up until recently) once the game has had its time, that’s it, lost for ever unless you are a collector or going to get into emulation. Both of which are fine and people should still pursue but also require a great deal of effort when you maybe just want to play that game you remember having so much fun playing in your local arcade or at a friends house when you were a kid. Its always baffled me how games are allowed to die and be forgotten about once the newest console or whatever comes around. I think services like Antstream are helping to preserve these old games, make them more accessible for more people and hopefully may bring down the cost of some games for those who collect (wont hold my breath on that though).
I thought Nintendo was shutting down all emulators and systems with Nintendo on? They are even attacking Steam etc so won't these be in the crosshairs or am I missing something? Good vid though very interesting 😊

I hope to see Sega Saturn and Dreamcast added later, along with Atari Jaguar. Always wanted to play Alien vs Predator on that system.
The possibilities are definitely there. I think they're focusing on PS1 right now, which I'm fine with. Fingers crossed for R-Type Delta.
