Glad my first MH game was tri on the wii, considered to have the LEAST amount of content(not sure if its comparable to the first game)...... that made me appreciate and enjoy whatever amount of content they came up in future games lol
Well the first game it was a lot harder to go online (where a good deal of the real gameplay was). It was one of the first online multiplayer games on PS2 at the time. I think the other was Resident Evil: Operation Outbreak.
I'd be lying if I say I don't want more, but I'm not gonna look at my playtime and still tell people this game doesn't have enough contents while being in my right mind
I really loved FF7R... and I honestly thought that I played it a lot. But when I installed the new DLC I saw that I only spent 60 hours in the game. In Rise I already have 10 times more hours.😅 So complaining that there isn’t enough content when I already spent more hours than in most other games would be strange. But I think that farming talismans isn’t very fun... that could definitely need some improvements.
@@ramigilneas9274 yeah, if you ask me, the talisman grind is not really... rewarding. I have 360 or so hours in rise rn, and I only got like 10 usable talismans to make budget sets with, let alone pro sets. I just wish there was a way to at least give a bit more direction to what talismans you will get, even if that would mean more materials/hunts for said talismans
@@qitsune8326 I only got 2 talismans that are really good out of the thousands I melded. -attack 3 + 3slot + 1slot -rapid fire up 2 + 3slot And the last 500 were trash. I guess it will only become more rewarding when we unlock level 8 talismans.😉
@@ramigilneas9274 Honestly tho I never really did the talisman grind. Like yea I throw some materials into the melding pot once in a while but I kinda don't see it as a necessity. I still managed to build a handful of viable sets. My endgame has mostly just been helping randos out😂
@Wemple yeah i get you, it is just kind of demotovating, knowing how abysmal the chance is to get the charm needed to minmax your build or however you say that. That isn't to say I am not having fun with my kinda good charms, but knowing that I'm missing out on some good stuff annoys me hehe
Do the tier 1 villager quest Roly-poly lanterns. Use geologist and get the one by main camp and then get the 2 by the sub camp. It takes a about 2 minutes but can be as fast as 1:30... I get 3 kamura tickets every 6-8 quests. It's volume not difficulty. Plus this also speed rolls your Argosy and Mercenaries. Someone did a video can't remember who
My thoughts after a hearty 400+ hours: it’s a very good installment (one of my favorites) and I’m looking forward to the expansion. They cut out almost all the fat from previous games, but the problem that came from this that everyone is feeling is that they cut TOO MUCH fat. I’ve never seen this problem in a game before, but considering the endgame of MH is inevitably a grind, having no bonus grind on top of hunting gives the impression that there’s “no content”. People jabbed at the “Grinding Lands” but never complained that there was nothing to do. Under the negative words, they were still enjoying the game because there was a lot to do and you were given a reason to make strong builds and fight EVERYTHING. Rise’s main problem right now is frustrating because the roster is solid but there are a few Day 1 decisions they made that missed the mark. The new deco/talisman system IS better in theory but it wasn’t implemented well so people are complaining to bring back deco RNG. All they had to do was keep the old system where random talismans dropped on harder quests. That would’ve been good incentive for Apex fights for example. And hell, add more interesting skills. The unique skills in MH were one of the things that usually hooked me but seeing it all devolve into crit and attack builds is depressing. More new skills like Rapid Morph please, but like 1 or 2 more pages not just a spattering. For the “no content” complaint, I have a phrase: “Use your assets”. I’ve noticed a lot of modern games falling short of bonus content where all they had to do was use what they already had. They don’t need new monsters, we just need more interesting quests/event quests that incentivize fighting monsters we usually don’t. Keep us busy, we WANT to play the game. I had a similar problem with FF7 Remake where the combat system rules, but there are so few fights where you actually get to go crazy with it. The endgame has an opportunity with the simulated battle gauntlets but there’s only so many. They could have given you pages of fun bonus fights just reusing enemies in larger groups but all you got was a handful of okay fights with some highlights. So again, games not using their assets to the fullest is a strange but real problem and Rise is no exception. I’m hoping they’re listening and working on a solution, even if it’s in the expansion. Im sure they were surprised by Rise selling gangbusters and weren’t prepared. Didn’t mean to write an essay lol I just love the game
" I’ve noticed a lot of modern games falling short of bonus content where all they had to do was use what they already had. They don’t need new monsters, we just need more interesting quests/event quests that incentivize " THIS! So much this! The events have nothing special so far except, a pair of glasses? With no unique skill or anything T_T Wheres the unique special quest with a monster the size of a poogie or the size of a barn? And wheres my Link outfit, or "Ushio & Tora" Insect Glaive rewards? Wheres Conan Edogawa, Mega Man, or Dark Magician Palico costumes? Just something please! Even the main quest get boring as they have a lack of variety with single monsters, making grinds feel tedious. I'm going for Magnamalo Orbs and can't seem to get any. I wouldn't mind half as much if there wasn't just 1 high rank quest to fight him alone in the entire game! Put him and other monsters in more hunts at different locals!
The part about the game not using it's content fully is a sentiment I agree with 100%. I often hear about how Rise has one of the bigger Monster rosters of any mh base release, my problem with it is, that it's not used properly. You can have all the monsters you want, if you are not incentivized to fight them, they might as well not be there. While playing for playings sake might be a good enough motivator for some I can definitely say it isn't for me and like it seems from the general endgame perception many others as well.
EXACTLY I agree with literally everything you say especially when it comes to incentive to fight and farm monsters. If they had just added the layered armor for apex monster sets that would have definitely kept me playing the game it didn't even have to be the actual armor just the layered versions would have been enough for me but there isn't anything like that and like you talked about there aren't any ways to get talismans from quests making melding the only way to get them. Farming apex monsters for great chances at good talismans would have also at least given me a reason to want to farm them. But as of now the apex monsters which are supposed to be big chunks of content feel like the kinds of special bosses you fight once for the experience and then never again cause there's no reward for doing so.
If I get 60 hours in a $60 game I consider it a worthwhile purchase. I have over 200 hours in rise at the moment and I'm still playing it whenever I have time.
I think the problem is there is nothing to go for mixed with a lack of variety in the quest that have the few things a player does grind for. I used the same armor and weapon for all of high rank with no reason to craft a new one. So once I beat a monster once, I had no reason to repeat the quest since I didn't need any rewards from it. But then when I was looking to craft every weapon tree for my Switch Axe, I noticed grinding for parts was tedious not because of the bad RNG I had, but the fact there are only 1 quest per solo monster. Want to fight Magnamalo and only him? Here's the one and only quest for that. They could easily add hunts for the same monster but in different locals to mix this game up a ton for me.
You can play Pokemon of any Gens for thousands of hour hunting for shinys or playing online and say the game content is shallow. You can finish It takes two (awesome game by the way) in 6 hours and say it's so fulfilling and worth every pennies. Play hour doesn't say much, it's the content of the game, how repetitive it is and how badly design it is. I don't think Rise is anything but high quality MH game but I can't say it is not repetitive and lack of content for endgame grinding.
feathero3 hey just need to add investigation quest-like not with the rewards but just a monster with random maps like Bazel or Valstrax. Even though I have 800+ hrs and still playing.
I feel like the reason he says it so much is so that you are able to easily understand and compare each example he gives. The amount of time he says it is many, but I feel like that there is weight behind it every time he mentions it
I understand making the game easier for newcomers but I miss the days when I was a bit scared of monsters. Now they feel more like punching bags I can spiderswing away from when anything gets slightly dangerous
Most of the times you can't if some monsters have a combo into cancel move lol and world was easy untill it got to iceborne and bro I tell you going back to that game lol fatails is still hard.
I get that. When I started MHFU , I had plenty of walls, so I had to find ways to make it easier. Like learning to use flash/traps on tigrex, or forced to use sonic bombs or suffer on diablos/ground dromes. Now? I can facetank and punch through lol. In MHGU i punched through lower ranks but had to farm weapons and actually upgrade my gear.Even high rank pushed through with hypers. And tons reaaaaally tons of events from the get go. Not drop drip...
I said it to a coworker the other day. “Remember when we were kids, and putting 100 hours into a Final Fantasy game felt like it took months, and finishing the game was a monumental achievement-but now we can put 100 hours into a game over a weekend, and feel like we only just started playing.”
@@ArashiinStormdragon I remember when I was a kid logging-in the 999.99 hour playtime cap in a Final Fantasy save file was my personal monumental achievement. Even though I've "finished" experiencing the core content in the game at about 100 hours. I wanted to play more because I was imaginative and wanted to complete some achievements and challenges in the game. Back then, we think differently about gaming. Games were like a sim box for me and it's playtime is as much as your imagination lets you have fun with it.
The lack of continuing end-game content and grinds is something I like about the MH franchise. I like playing a game I can walk away from with a sense of completion. Games like Destiny, where the developers continue to move the end-game goal post every few months drives me crazy. The game turns into a job after a while, and you start to feel like you're missing out on other games.
Thats another way to look at it. Though its not the same, I feel I've been trapped in by overwatch and it makes mw neglect so many other amazing games...
@@V1C10US If you want a in depth endgame go back to a game as service like Destiny instead of demanding for a more game of a service endgame in a completely NOT game of a service like Monster Hunter. At least you got the little amount of Endgame as it was if the game was like tri the game would have ended with Narwa with no extras.
Completely agreed that’s always how I’ve viewed every MH game Ive played. It’s something that makes me feel happy that I can fall back to when other things that enjoy me feel full.
I really think you need to talk about the increase of microtransactions. World started off with emotes and stickers, and Rise is now including layered armor pieces that would've been free to unlock in the 3DS days. The mask headpiece is *literally* the gunner armor headpiece from the mizu set. We used to be able to craft it ourselves! AND WE NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!!!
That's something that nobody seems to be realizing at 1st people will be like it's just cosmetics it's not a big deal until eventually it does become a huge deal and you see more Microtransactions in the game than actual content.
It may be time for you to stop reading the comments section. Sounds like the internet brand drama is getting to you. You are a great content creator, don't let them get to you!
Agreed. I really enjoy hearing your perspective, but nothing you say will be able to persuade these people to believe anything besides the things they’ve already said. I’m not saying “they’re negative so they’re automatically wrong and this game is immune to criticism”, but it’s unlikely their perspective will shift at all, so make these videos for yourself, not for them.
@@mach7archangel You might be right, but look at the amount of times he thanks his viewers, he still feels great gratitude toward us there's no denying that. Now of course I don't want this to take a toll on his life, but not keeping in check with his viewers as a whole because of the few negative people would kinda ruin that feeling of gratitude, it's not necessarily the most confortable option.
I could never dislike you Gaijin. I started with 4U it was your tutorial videos that made the game click for me. Your opinion about the game weather it be good or bad, I will always respect it. Thanks for always giving us good content vids!
All I miss are episodic quests/deviant quests. I think they were a good, increasingly difficult challenge, culminating in EX Deviants, which were immensely challenging. Apex monsters are fun, but they feel like empty hunts. No special rewards or anything. They're fun to hunt, but offer no real reward for doing so.
They can solve this with a simple thing Apex Layered Weapons A Special Layered Weapon based in Apex Coloring using the design of their respective monster, considering how the Rampage weapons are Basically made from Apex Monsters This could make sense
Ya, I really liked the deviant system, although it would've been nice is you didn't have to be the one to out up the quest to get credit lol. But it was also neat because the crown next to your name was connected to you beating these ridiculously hard monsters. So if someone joined your hub who had a med/lrg crown you knew that they could hold there own. The crown for beating Narwa felt pretty lame in comparison.
You grind them so you can make rampage weapons mainly which are pretty cool since they're fully customizable down to even their design but yeah I really wish apex monster had their own gear.
I don't mind it so much now, but it'll be a real missed opportunity if they don't expand the Apex system in the G-rank expansion. Hopefully they don't use the excuse of "story-wise, the Rampage is over" for not creating more Apexes for the expansion. They could basically just take the deviant hunt loop from GU, slightly modify it, and boom: a form of end-game content.
Honestly this is one of the first games I’m aiming to get all the awards for, and though I don’t have much to do in the game, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing my 370+ hours in the game, also I wish I could have close friends to hunt with as well
@@ReizokoRyu scrolls are simple to get just have 10 hunts (not capture) for the scroll to be available to rondine, large and gold crown will be the one that will consume a lot of time
@@SebZee I haven't counted them yet but I have a few ! I think I have about 250 hours? But a number of monsters I've killed in my scroll hunting haa gotten me some already 😁
I have a 'theory' that a person's first MH heavily shapes their perception of the series, especially towards the endgame. Having started in 3 ultimate where there was no dedicated endgame, the endgame is not what makes the game great for me; Heck, in 4u and World/Iceborne, I ignored the game's dedicated endgame grind. As a result, I love Rise. I continue to play it because what makes a great MH to me is the quality of the monsters and the enjoyment of the gameplay.
That's exactly it, I also started in 3, I didn't play 4U but I played the world, and in the world when I finished the story, I couldn't see myself "wasting time" hunting tempered to finish my build, I'd rather go back to the monsters I hunted before, testing new weapons was a lot more fun for me.
I started on PS2, back when you used the right analog stick to attack (and had to walk uphill in the snow to and from school, BOTH WAYS!) I have to tell you, everything since then is spoiling us. This series has evolved sooo much, it's amazing ❤
Makes sense to me. I'm a MHW newcomer and started at the perfect time, with a lot of the title updates and game adjustments already out. While I obviously didn't expect Rise to have the same amount of content on launch as MHW after well over a year of support I just couldn't get myself to play it much after the 100 hour mark. And it's not even that I need some sort of incentive or reward to keep me playing. I have completed everything including gold crowns and rare endemic life capture in World/Iceborne and I am still playing it to this day because it just feels soooo much more satisfying to me compared to Rise. So I decided to take a big break from Rise and wait for the PC release until next year. We already got tons of new things to do so I am sure that, by the time the Steam version is out, it will have decently enough content for me to sink my teeth into. And if there isn't going to be some sort of end game equivalent besides the melding pot, that's fine. Maybe they're holding off on that for the next gen game.
I think it also may be different types of gamers and the “new guard” coming in from World’s popularity. I started with world and loved it, but I wasn’t particularly interested in the end game grind over the appeal of other monster hunter games. Half way through the iceborne story I started splitting my time between it and GU. Then I expanded to 3U(and a little bit of 4U) as well. Rise is definitely my favorite monster hunter game(3U being a close second) and I’m a long ways from being tired of it. Honestly I feel like there is plenty of content to last me until the g rank expansion hits. But I still play 3U and some other games depending on my mood so maybe I’m just spoiled for options.
You’re probably right. I started with World and then went back and played every other “ultimate version” of the game available in the West except the very first MH. This probably led to me becoming accustomed to absolutely massive pools of content, giant endgame grinds, and black dragon fights. This is especially damning because my second game after world was Freedom Unite and to be frank I think that game has the most content of any of the games. Thank you for sharing this perspective. I’ve been salty since release and while I haven’t been vocal about it, nor have I lost any faith in the devs or love for the series, this slight change in perspective has dramatically shifted my view on the situation. Thank you for that.
And remember. Everyone who is complaining about the game/endgame are people who just want to play the game more and are sad that they can't get motivated to play it.
Which means nothing tbh. People act like the game is bad because you can't play it endlessly. If you put 100 hours (which let's be honest, ain't a lot for a MH game) be glad you did. Games are supposed to be played up to a certain point.
@@Bjorn_in_Orbit That's the thing, people are not being reasonable. And I understand replayability, but having a game loop endlessly shouldn't be criteria to tell if it's better or not.
I want more content for this game because it is *so damn good*, it releases so much dopamine it rivals cocaine. And im so deep into the gameplay loop that I can play repeatedly (200 bazel kills), it just bothers me that theres no incentive to hunt half of the roster. Which is why I disagree with gaijin about tempered monsters. Why should I ever hunt a Bishaten more than 2 times if that is all it takes to make the armor. So just give me a version of it that can atleast 3-hit my gunning loadout and make its parts worth as much as the harder monsters and were gucci
Rise is just a chill sort fun experience. It gives the player a lot of freedom to do what they want to do and it never feel like a "need" to do something. I just happy that $60 gave hundreds of hours of play time and maybe more with events/updates
My favorite thing that this game did is create a 1-player difficulty for Hub quests. It gives me the perfect difficulty. That's something you didn't mention, but it makes sense since you've been playing with Yuna. I'm so happy to see your MH family journey is going well.
I've sunk 500 hours in, and started a second save file.... yeah I think I'm enjoy Rise and not worried about end game (there's enough here if I'm sinking that many hours in and I've played since Tri and I sunk butt load into that again recently with my daughter....so uh yeah, there's enough to justify the $80AU )
I think you're crazy making that second file 🤣 but i completely agree that rise is great, have about 300 hrs on it and just taking a break while new content comes out
I'm the same , it's got plenty and I'm pretty sure they're gonna add more it's still early days tbh I'm enjoying Rise more than MHW lol... I paid $60 for my copy day 1, did you go EB?
@@JohnTheBear not at all. My second save is a challenge save where i put restrictions onto myself to make the game harder. I used to do it with Tri. Actually with GU i did a new save for each weapon run (i did solo 100% one weapon only runs for fun) and had a blast. I have one main save that doesn't get deleted that i do a 100% completion run in as well which is getting very close to having a fully finished guild card in Rise, it's just shy of the 1,000 monsters achievement but once I have that it's ready for Grank stuff so I don't mind doing a second or 3rd save to impose crazy challenges on myself. I do play other games as well, it's just monster hunter has always been my zone out and chill game. I'm running a few D&D games for friends that keep going on hold due to covid so Rise is getting alot more playtime than it probably would... or maybe not since my switch travels with me everywhere and I sneak hunts in when doing school pick ups ect. My 2 3ds got a ton of love when i was pregnant with my kids - 4U kept me sane as we moved house and i had no one to talk to with a new baby who was ill keeping me house bound and Gen kept my sanity when the second bub kept trapping me in chairs at naptimes. MH is very much my sanity keeper as it kept me in touch with others.... so yeah MH is something I'm happy to pour endless hours into with multiple saves to keep it going.
@@eze9236 actually a friend got me mine, got the collectors edition as a very late Christmas/ 25th birthday gift. I have since bought a second copy so my daughter can play with us now she has her own switch lite (so the $80 was so she could have her own version, i got it from JB as it's a short walk from my house, i got her a magnamarlo one as they still had stock and she adores the monster - she's almost 6 and played tri coop arena with me so she could learn to play rise...she half finished Gen in prowler mode as well so she maybe a better hunter than me in the future.)
I actually like the fact that I can say "I've done everything I wanted to do", at some point. I'm not into the heavy grinding and it was never really an issue. It took me longer than others with my sub-optimal gear, but you get 50min for a reason. The only point where I had to actually grind hard was Alatreon in World because you got effectively 10min. Everything else was doable with enough defense, good dodge rolling and a bag full of potions. I don't care about my time or my damage. Doesn't matter if either the charms or the decos are random. I take a weapon I like and kick some wyvern ass. With 100% affinity or without, I have fun and the screen says Quest Complete. That's it.
Exactly, finally someone says This My MHW game cycle was; - Forge all Switch Axes (Main Weapon.) - Augment those from my sets - Make sets for those specific Monsters that i enjoy to fight - Upgrade and Augment the Armor from my sets - Forge some of my favorite weapons from the other categories (Wyvern Ignition, Raging Brachydios DB's, Zinogre LS, etc.) - Make All Event Quests Weapons by personal choice - Make All Layered armor - Make all Alatreon and Fatalis Weapons by personal choice And that was my endgame, not all achievements, nor every single Weapon and Augment, just enjoy the game at my own way, and when in Iceborne (G RANK EXPANSION.) i have +2000 hours, my 500 hours in Rise are totally worth It, with all my Switch Axes, my Layered Armor proccess still growing, my fave weapons from Other Weapon trees, etc
To be honest gaijin I love rise but I stopped playing it for some time now. I bought the switch simply because of MHR so I'm a pretty new owner. While MHR was the reason I bought the switch it doesn't mean that I don't plan on getting other games. So now while I love rise I have to play and experience other games as well.
@@clonezryan12345 i have problem playing MHGU since it has no autolock camera that auto-follow the monster like in rise. sorry but i'm too much used to keyboardmouse playstyle.
I think an issue this game has been facing is the idea often thrown around in the video game space that one either has to completely love or hate a product. A lot seem to get really heated for some reason whenever it comes to video game discussion, and I have sadly seen this a fair amount with this game. I end up feeling really bad about myself because I may have some issues with the game that will upset some, or love aspects of it I am afraid to show. That community reception and treatment towards others has ultimately made me not want to pick up the game unless it is helping friends go through it, which I am more than happy to do. Proper criticism and respect towards others seems so rare in the game space, from what I have observed. I see it from both sides, although the Internet does gravitate towards negativity, often irrational and hurting the creators as a result. This then leads to pushback from fans, who push forwards the idea a video game can never be criticised, and birthing what I like to call the 'video game bias', which I do feel this video does dip into the territory of (not trying to sound mean, apologies if it comes that way). At the end of the day, it is okay to both criticise and love something at the same time, love something entirely, or even hate it, as long as we respect one another and the creators. It hurts to see so many within the community be so mean-spirited towards one another as of late. I probably am being dumb with these thoughts, apologies.
No you're not being dumb you're definitely right I'm guilty of it too. I do believe it is because people have a love for the games both the people who are negative and positive about things. The people who don't like the way it is just want it to be the best that they believe it can be and the one's who do like it believe it's fine as is. I don't think it's bad for people to get heated about it as long as it's not too heated to the point they're just being assholes as it just shows they're passionate about the games.
My only complaint: I miss the village farm that you could upgrade as the game went on. It was so cool to watch your farm grow and change as you progressed on the game.
One thing I am missing is something to do every day. Like in World if you didnt had something to do you still had the daily and weekly challenges. Also one thing I miss is seasonal events and Event Quests that are worth farming, for xp, armor spheres or money... Also some system where you get a reason to farm the Smaller starter monsters would be great. Like tempered which drop more items for melding. Overall I am super happy with Rise even if I dont play it as much as World. Right now I have 400hours nothing to complain about. I am looking forward to an G-update and playing it from time to time.
Monster Hunter tri was my first game, and I never got to play 3 ultimate. It's actually on sale on the DS Eshop for $5.99 rn so I have been having an amazing time with that. I have almost every endgame set I could want in rise so I have been having a blast getting back to my roots the last few days. As a video game it's amazing 9/10. As a monster hunter game I'm disappointed. Mostly cuz of the Nintendo event collaborations. I was hoping for something like mhgu but everything else is very good but missing something
The good lord has blessed us with 2 Gaijinhunter Videos in one day! In all seriousness though i think Rise as a MH game is pretty solid. While there are certain thing that I’m really iffy about the majority of the things people tend to complain about is stuff that will be added to Rise Ultimate. I also think the main source of some of the negativity Rise gets has to do with it being the first MH game after World and people expecting it to be bigger and better in every way. Anyways I’m having a great time with Rise (recently been trying multiplayer after i beat everything) and I’m super psyched for Stories 2
Compare every hour of Gameplay as a dollar If your game has a cost of $60, and you play It for 60 hours, the price is worth It, if you put 120 hours and enjoy the game, the content was totally worth it
@@itallomarcus137 Yeah sure G Rank will be fun. And I'll definitely play it. But, world had an incredible endgame and it was actually fun/ Challenging. At base value, Rise failed expectations. @@axelmartinez1235 but maybe the endgame from base game isnt complete released yet, because of pandemic ?, i wonder if they will add some apex armor or something similar to kulve at the end of the year, and about AT monster for me were too much exagered amount of hp and hitkill attacks
Man that was absolutely my biggest complaint about world. You got so many great new monsters with boring glitter glued designs. I understand that there were only 4 people on the weapon design team but I feel like it wouldn't have been that hard to just hire more people.
To me, Rise feels like two steps forward but also one step back. I like the game, but there are still a lot of things that could be improved on or reverted back. A lot of anger with Rise comes from the fact a lot of older Western players are used to getting the "Ultimate" versions of the games. Meaning they come fully finished , with events, with crossovers, with all the bells and whistles. A lot of these Older Players came into Rise expecting it to be the same as 4U or 3U. So to these players things are kinda like 'why did I just spend 60$ on a game that's half done?'. Now I have never played Tri, but I did play Monster Hunter on the Ps2 and Portable 2 on Psp. But when I got Freedom Unite I got really into Monster Hunter. There was so much to do. Get done the village and go to the Guild and just get flooded with quests. Some quests were insane! Like the Twin Shakalaka King quest in the mini arena? OR the Mini Arena where you had to kill 50 Velociprey / Ioprey / Gaiprey in like 10 min? OR THE MINI KHEZU!!!! We did get some quests like those in future games , but seeing stuff like that in Rise would have been awesome. But that's . . not what we got. At all. You get discount Redhelm and . . .Walmart Brand Dread Queen. . . and normal monsters. But hey, you might get a gem for that one decoration you're prolly not gonna use. Now I'm not saying that makes Rise BAD , it's just like . . . they dropped the ball on that. There were also a LOT of missed opportunities for monsters but I think that was done to not alienate the "New World" players. As it seems like they tried to make a balance of New Monsters / Old World / New World and those that both may have seen before ( like Nargi and MONKe' ) But it still would have been nice, and appropriate, to have made armor sets for the Apex monsters. I mean, I know I was mega disappointed when I killed [ That One monster with the new form ] and you got nothing for it. But Yeah - TLDR : It would be nice if they could add more monsters. But it be nicer if they could add actual armor for "100% not deviant monsters but recolored " , cool events , and just some stuff to hunt for like joke weapons or silly armors. Over all the game is fine. Prolly 4th overall in my book ( MHGENU , MHFU, MH4U being the top 3 ) . Im not super keen on how easy they have made things, but I hope for a proper G-Rank in the future. 8/10.
I sometimes think that there isn't all that much to do in Rise... then I look at the 270 hours I've sunk into it and I realise that's because I've already done most of what I wanted to do
I don’t think you realise that criticism doesn’t mean u hate a game. Glad your enjoying the game but again if the game has flaws there is nothing wrong with calling it out.
It's just people being spoiled brats, I started Monster Hunter with MH4U and I got around 290 hours into it and I still could've played more. I just got to 100 in rise and I'm really satisfied with the game as is right now. Hopefully the G rank update/DLC will be good to push even more game time on such a great game.
The only "complaint" I have is that I have always loved expeditions. Just running out there, building up materials, and taking on whatever large monsters show up. Guiding lands felt perfect for that (though I hated managing the biomes), and the spiritbirds really feel like they should encourage long hunts where you tackle more than just your target. ...but there's zero incentive to do that. In fact, there's negative incentive because you don't get deco gems from expeditions, only quests. And lordy do I need a lot of deco gems.
Everybody knows that the real endgame grind is doing quests until you get a sale in which you can unlock decorations for your room and succesfully get a new one, till you unlock every single one of them!
I love all the content you post, and have never thought of you less for having any opinions. I'm just heart happy to hear stories about you and your daughter. ♥️♥️
I honestly find the endgame is good for high rank standards. people have too much expectations for high rank endgame like some people are really expecting alateron or fatalis to come back IN HIGH RANK. I wish that apexes have their own armor and weapons but that’s my one complaint out of a couple others. I’m happy with what we have in the high rank endgame. Plus we FINALLY have best boy valstrax back after he skipped world.
I'm pretty sure bro that's everyone's compliment about Apexs having they're armor and weapons they listen when people wanted to fight them outside of rampages lol so they'll most likely listen 👂.
I want more. I *need* more. That doesn't mean that the game didn't do enough, or that it's lackluster. The only fault of the game is being so good that I want more than what they can get us.
I think one issue the modern gamers have is that they find it hard to make decisions on what to do without being given a pointer or a set list of goals to work on. So when they're at a point where they're given free reigns to do what they want, rather than setting a goal for them to strive towards to they'll sooner think that there's nothing to do anymore in the game Like if we take the Apex monsters, rather than looking at the fight itself they focus more on the rewards they can get from it, since it's a more tangible stuff for them to latch on to compared to the experience of just fighting said monster. So for these kind of people, they find the Apex monster "useless" because of no unique rewards from beating them
I love the game however I've not touched it since shortly after 3.0. I still have 450hrs played so I've little to complain about, other than a lack of difficulty.
@@sparkraido the problem with that approach is that the game is designed with wirebug in mind. It focuses on wirebug and switch skills, so it will simply be less fun to play without it. Difficulty must be balanced by devs after taking into account all the mechanics in the game. Otherwise you can always think of stupid pointless challenges like "no-wirebug runs" or "playing on a dancing pad" kind of stuff
@@sparkraido I recently did that as a challenge, the entire game actually, sans the times wb is required like narwa, it makes the hunts only mildly more challenging, cos capcom really dialed up many of the skills to 11 and at the same time made the monsters easier. Take Rajang for example, they slowed his movement down massively, making him a pushover even without the wirebug
I really enjoyed your video. In my opinion it was nice to hear a bit of criticism on your main channel. As much as I love monster hunter, it's really nice to hear that someone has similar thoughts about it and still enjoys it as I do. It's easy to fall into extreme opinions online. Thanks!
I had way more gripes to complain about in World when that launched and Rise is a huge improvement on what that, which was still an incredible game. It's easy for lots of western fans to be disappointed since we usually only got G versions, Rise is only gonna get better with time
Doesn't help that they are literally just deviants with some moves removed. It's because of that I hate how the developers are treating these types as "new monsters." No that is not an Apex Zinogre, THAT IS A THUNDERLORD
I spent like 300 hours on this game and playing with friends was a lovely experience. I'm already grateful for the content and my quality time with the game, i wouldn't ask anymore of it. Just looking forward for MH stories 2 to give it a go, and for the ultimate version (DLC or re-release) And I would like to thank you for creating positive content :)
You can't just write off genuine criticism as being negative though. As fun as Rise has been they have cut a lot of corners (prime example no apex armour or weapons) and the event quests are a slap in the face to literally every other game. Bar that I'd give it a 8/10 but it's dead for me now until we get more content
Not saying criticism is wrong. I'm saying gaijinhunter should do the kind of videos that he likes instead of getting pressured into doing things he doesn't normally do in fear of being called a shill. If you think the game is dead, that's fine - don't expect other to feel the same way.
See I am not let down by the fact we don't have G rank and when Rise ultimate arrives I'll be one of the first to get it. Not to mention the amount of paid dlc they push on us is alarming. So much of that could have been event quest rewards. As for playing other games I actually am until Stories drops 🤣
Personally I don't feel that the endgame is lacking in content, for the simple reason that I haven't had much time to play recently and so I have yet to fully dive into it. I'm so happy for you that you can enjoy this game with your daughter. Having someone to play your favourite game with is such a great feeling. I only have one friend who plays MH Rise (who was also the one to recommend your channel to me, back when MH4U had just come out :D), but because we've both been busy working on our university thesis for the past months we still haven't had a chance to play together. Appreciate the time you spend with your loved ones, people!
I just said it under one of Rurikhan videos and i'll sait it again: i am super glad i got to play MH Rise and i'll be playing Stories 2 considering the current state of the world. 😷👍
@@feathero3 You know, you can get Covid, stay in quarantine...lose your job and a ton of money and health...and im glad im still able to do things like enjoying a game like stories 2. 🤷♂️
500+ hrs and still enjoying it, rise is the 1st that i played since day 1 :), but yeah give more content, and im willing to wait :). great video as always , enjoy the hunt from 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Having seen this video, I feel like my expectations of this game have been a bit too harsh. I love this game, it's one of my favorite games on the Switch, and quite often, I found myself getting bored with it, looking for some content that could provide me with such a challenge. But looking at it now, I realize I'm not enjoying the game in a way that will entertain me for hours. Monster Hunter is one of those games where you have to make your own fun. Challenge yourself. Adapt. Improvise. Improve. Explore. Learn new things. There's actually more content in this game than people realize, but it's up to them to make use of it. And it's up to us to find new ways to play Monster Hunter.
Thank you! Someone said it! People were complaining about Rise not having that much endgame content, yet they don't realize that older games were like this too. Rise was my first mainline MH game (I say mainline because I started with the Stories games,) and I absolutely love it. I often go back to it every now and then and still have a lot of fun, and my friend who also plays the game and I are really looking forward to Sunbreak.
"Shill" You're a monster hunter fan. You have been for a while. This has been apparent since I started watching you, back in mh4u. Your approach tends to be realistic. I'm inclined to believe that the people calling you a shill are newer players. You've expressed your frustration at things before, it's just never the full weight of any arguments. People think you either love something or you hate it. In truth, you can dislike aspects of something while still loving the overall picture they're part of.
Love your comment, I am grateful for Gaijin for his weapons tutorials ever since 3U. Gaijin you don't need to listen to the haters, veterans know and appreciate you.
Actually, from what I've seen it's the exact opposite. The people who are calling gaijin a shill is usually just veteran elitists who hate the new games(world and rise). Most new players I've seen agree with gaijin.
My main complaint is that there isn't more of it (because I like what *is* there). If a game is good enough that you want more, it can't really be that bad right? I've had a blast with Rise so far, I'm mostly taking a break from it for now. I'll hop back in after an update or two.
Hard agree on that. Kinda want more, but the game itself doesn't have the "more" thing (yet, hopefully). Like world/ib has many quest variations, but i kinda don't like the map structure. And rise is the exact opposite of that, way less quest variations but flat maps (no slidy slidy attack even on slopes).
I totally agree, with all points you adressed. Love the game. So far it's the best I think, and I love the weapon designs and mechanics. My first title was MH freedom unite. And I have to say, this is so far the most engaging title, especially for new players, who didn't get hooked in previous games. And what I like the most is the fact, that there are not just 3 main monsters worth grinding for weapons and armor and you don't have to go META to have fun and feel powerful.
Im just bored of MHR. I havent played Rise in months. Been playing MHWI and MHGU until MHS2 comes out in a few weeks. Rise is ok. But ill come back in a year when the game is actually complete. Atleast Stories 2 will be a complete game at launch.
My only problem with the current MHR end-game is the repetitivness of the hunts themselves. At least with MHW you have the investigations that gave you an element of randomisation in the structure of a hunt, and that kept it fresh for longer, more event quests, couldn't agree more. 1 other thing... in a game where the core loop is "kill monster and use the parts you get to make weapons and armour" it baffles me that every monster doesn't have both armour and 1 of every type of weapon, including the Apex's, and honestly, each monster should have had alpha and beta armour types at least. That said, MHR is an amazing game and I'm super excited to get back into it when there's enough new content to warrant it.
I disagree with an alpha and beta because there isn't as many decorations (or wasn't there) at the start of the game and with the older games, we had the the blademaster/gunner split. I do agree that Apex's should have had a better grinding system around them such as leveling up their rampages to unlock a super form hunt with them to get some kind of armor since the rampage weapons needs the rampage parts.
There's still lots of stuff to do imo - I've been keeping myself occupied via: 1. Trying out new weapons/builds 2. Trying to solo the 7 star advanced quests 3. Learning longsword because I've never used it and it makes no sense 4.Talisman farming (though very rarely because I've stopped caring) 5. Making every weapon of my main 6. Fashion hunter (I spend an ungodly amount of time on this) etc. At this point, I don't even know what the "endgame" that people want is. I just find interesting/fun things to keep me occupied
Anyone that praises base MHW endgame over MHrise should start a new file, beat the game and start grinding RNG decorations again so they can remember how frustrated they were that they couldn't even get the most basic decorations to have a bare minimum set, you watch any armor set videos from back then they would all have a disclaimer that you need to have luck granted by gods to get 2 attack decos or play 1000 hours. If they had more fun in world as a game they should say so, sometimes the grind is just something pushing you to keep playing a game you like, and the grind in rise can end quicker The game also had to be adjusted with an update so that normal tempered monsters would actually start dropping worthwhile decos so people wouldn't have to just grind elder dragon, it was designed that way. Rise had a problem too but it was a bug instead with the talisman tables, and the talisman grind didn't matter as much the moment most skills were added to craft as decos, it's just something you can do to improve your finished sets rather than grinding endlessly to finish them at all
Yeah, I refuse to believe that the +1000 hours people boast they played World for weren’t packed with tedious deco grinding. And I wouldn’t boast about grinding for that long
I just got back to world last week n i got 2 atk+ in like 4 days? But i do have 2 save files on world each around 1600 hrs. And on my 1st save file i got 2 atk + before rajang dlc on iceborne 😅 but yeah it feels nice that you dont have to farm hard but for some people its their motivation to play. Capcom needs to find balance between grind n not a chore
The experience of playing Monster Hunter games with friends or family can't be overstated. I loved playing MH World with my buddy online, but I could never play with my son because we don't own two PS4s. Fast Forward to MH Rise, and my son and I have been having a great time playing together. Rise really is a fantastic game! As much fun as we had playing MHGU together on Switch, it's been even more fun playing a new game that was built specifically for the Switch. My biggest gripes against Rise are the sad lack of cool crossover content (i.e. Link, Samus, Fire Emblem from GU) and lackluster event quests. I think the pandemic is a legitimate reason to have delayed those things, here's hoping they come in eventual updates :)
This game has one of the best endgames for me because I can hunt anything I want. Let’s take Tobi Karachi and Teostra as an example, in world there was no reason to ever hunt a Tobi, the quality of decos you got from hunting one were objectively worse than ones obtained via a Teostra, essentially limiting base worlds roster to 5 as only elders dropped the good decos. In rise however the talismans obtained from Tobi parts and Teo parts are identical, the only difference is the melding value of the monsters, and while Teo’ss parts are twice as valuable as Tobi’s, I can hunt two Tobis in the same amount of time it would take for me to hunt 1 Teo. What this means is the amount of reliably farmable monsters in rise is 36, as there are 10 monsters whos parts can’t be melded fir some reason. This also makes crown farming way more enjoyable, as before every hunt that didn’t give you a crown was wasted effort, whereas now even non crown monsters still give you talismans as reward. While I have issues with the game, namely events and lack of Apex/final boss armor, complaining about a lack of content is just dumb. Rise OBJECTIVELY gives you more monsters to fight in the endgame than any other base game, that is a fact. Now if you don’t enjoy it that’s fine, if you don’t find it engaging because it’s too easy, or just don’t like the talisman grind in general and find it to be unsatisfying that’s completely fine, but to claim world or other previous games gave you more reasons to fight the whole roster and not just a handful of monsters, your opinion is objectively wrong and backwards, as rise is the game that actively gives you the same reward from hunting a Jyuratudus, a Rathalos, a Kushala Daora, or a Valstraxx. No matter what you hunt, you get the same reward, Talismans, all that changes is the quantity, not the quality, and this is offset by easier hunts being faster. My times - Rathian - 3 minutes - 3 talismans per hunt - Zinogre - 4:30 - 4 talismans per hunt - Teostra - 8:00 - 8 talismans per hunt While harder hunts are more rewarding, they are not that much more rewarding as to make earlier hunts obsolete, as opposed to world which made all but 5 hunts obsolete. This has been my over long ramble about why people who complain about a lack of variety in Rise are objectively wrong, or just have way, way to high of expectations.
Add to that in World/Iceborne, whenever they make event quests for farming decos like Greatest Jagras, Lavasioth for High Rank and later Zinogre for Master Rank, you know people were spamming only those three event quests for decos due to massive difference in rewards compared to normal quests
@@lani1988 So do you actually have an argument or a counter that argues against anything I’ve said, you know, having actual information and proof that shows that rise gives more end game variety, or are you too stupid to understand basic math, I’m going to assume the later. I also never said the best endgame, I said one of, which I stand by. The only ones that are better are guiding lands due to the open ended freedom, and GU due to the sheer amount of endgame weapons and builds, any other “endgame” is just locking behind key build elements behind a bs RNG wall, and if that’s what’s required for you to play a game than you are the brainless consumer with the attention span of a goldfish. You are the reason so many games are bloated and have garbage gacha mechanics. So personal life advice, if you have nothing of value to add to a conversation, don’t, you just make actual discussion more obnoxious.
Cool Video, good points I have one request for you and i realise it's a big one, to view 4 Ultimate's everwood and guild quests with the same openess you have towards rise now. One can easily take the perspective to say that guild quests are actually the most varied type we have ever had. You have to fight random monsters in the everwood to grow your own collection of quests with fun monster combinations etc. But then at the same time point towards many people hunting almost exclusively narwa for weeks to meld charms in rise. Base world is where we really only had 4 tier 3 tempered monsters to fight until later updates. I just think that that bit was unfair. Rise might be bare on the amount of quests but switch skills etc. combined with the fun fights we do have it offers a good variety similar to generations.
Maybe because Rise is the only MH game I’ve played so far, but I’m baffled at how people can complain that this game has unsatisfying amount of content. Like, compared to other games of same caliber, Rise has a lot more quality content and they even have roadmaps of things (bonus things) to add in the future. We have complete story, endgame, tons of things to do (it’s up to you how you extend your enjoyment of the game). I’m pretty sure you got your money’s worth. And if you’re already done, then maybe play another game?
Yeah, Rise being your first game is why this sounds so weird I wouldn't have much problem with how the game is right now if we had better events, we have a great base with a huge variety for monsters but there's not much reason to hunt them besides doing it for fun, which will burn anyone out I still pop the game up every week to do the new stuff but some collabs would be appreciated
Monster Hunter player are just generally pretty spoiled and probably also priviliged. Most don't compare MH to other games but solely to other MH games.
This is definitely because Rise is the only MH game you've played so far. I'm unsatisfied with the amount of content because my previous MH experience was with World and GU, but whatever. We did get our money's worth, but it is totally ok to feel like there is less content than expected, because there is less content than some previous games. So.. not that baffling.
Drinking game! Each time aevanko says Icing on the Cake, take a sip! Jokes aside, I totally agree with you. I reached a 400+ HR in GU due to the huge amount of grinds that were required to have a full maxed set of, let's say, Boltreaver Astalos and Dreadking Rathalos. However this game is just so fun to play! The mechanics are the same but so improved that I keep coming back just to try new weapons and getting new decos, and the new mechanics that are unique to each weapon. Is just great! And considering they haven't unlocked G-rank or Master Rank yet... That gives me chills!
Developing a game during pandemic is hard... But I believe this game is developed in parallel with MHW? So I don't think that excuse weight a lot in this case.
Mh Rise for me is like a food so good you can't help but want more (even when there's nothing left) You eat and eat but you just can't seem to get "enough" even if you're full.
I can't even imagine how happy you must feel to play with you daughter, just sharing something that you love with her. As for the people complaining about endgame loop, it's always essentially been the same because even with tempered monsters you would still end up hunting the same few monsters if you were min/maxing, or just do whatever you want speedrun, fashion sets, personal sets even just put it down because you reached a natural stopping point. And world didn't have a ton of endgame when it first released anyway unless you want to talk about the tempered monsters that didn't get hunted because it was almost a waste unless you enjoyed it to hunt anything other than tier 3 tempered monsters, which was 3-4 elder dragons on release.
Agreed 100% with every point you make in this vid. Rise is easily my 2nd favorite MH game (still have the nostalgia goggles on for 3U). Love the monsters, love not having the "end game loops" making me grind to gamble, love the map design and movement options, came around to the armor skill system, do like not having to worry about gunner vs blademaster versions of every armor set, love having switch skills. Wish we had apex monster equipment, even if it's just layered armor. Also still wishing for monsties in a main series game. Been wanting that ever since I started in Tri. Agreed on wanting event quests making gold crowns easier to find. I had all but one award prior to the 3.0 update (the one for hunting 1000 monsters). Getting all the crowns is something I've never gotten in any MH game (furthering my distaste for rng-based completion requirements). For me, the only things in my "3%" slice of the pie is how annoyingly overpowered weakness exploit is and how strong nargacuga weapons are vs every other weapon (including using elemental weapons even vs the monsters' weaknesses).
Some people totally shot themselves in the foot when they blasted through the game and reached "endgame content" 2 days after release, effectively cutting themselves from a big chunk of the game
I don't think people remember how little "end game content" base World had only 3 months after release. And I am so glad they moved away from decorations being RNG.
Some of us remember. I remember repeating the same Tempered Elders for what felt like forever. By the time Iceborne came out, I had about 1,000 hours in base game World, mostly because of the RNG involved in getting decos and the old augment system. I also took a healthy amount of time off from the game, only returning before the expansion came out so I wouldn't be rusty. Rise's story took me longer to finish than Iceborne's... And because decorations are craftable, I had incentive to keep playing to try other fun builds. Everyone wishes there was more content, but to me, what is there is great. It just makes me want G rank even more :3
@@MHChrono Couldn't agree with you more! I had a similar experience, and I'm super excited to see what they'll do for rise in G rank. Especially considering how much faster combat is with wirebugs.
I started from World, and I think part of the problem is, how World was the training wheel. Being a training wheel, I did spend a lot of time learning. Movesets, combos, general thing like radial menu and other stuffs. Hence when I went to the Endgame, I already spent a good 50+ hours and then bang, tempered investigations. So the grind continues, where there is another learning module which is the decoration, augmentation and then the min/maxing. By the end of it (like after 500ish hours) is when I got the fact that affinity doesn´t apply to shelling and element dont crit with crit boost. Its safe to say, I got a grasp of what the game had to offer, 600 hours into the game. The only reason the grind went until 1500 hours was because of the decoration drop rates that was bad, and the prep for iceborne. And that Kulve siege (seriously hated that one). So when it came to Rise, the initial 600 hours I spent learning World was replaced by a much shorter learning phase, proceeded by already knowing what skills to use effectively and the removal of the decoration grind meant that, well, a shorter experience. But still, a great experience. Plus Valstrax was back, so that´s a big plus on my side. I did initially feel the endgame to be short, but then after looking into and considering some aspects from both games, I think I became a better hunter overall. I also believe many others are in the same boat as well... - this is just my opinion on this matter. Rise is a great game, and has a good shot for the best game this year! (hopefully without woke journos ruining the awards)-
I always admire how you always keep your videos positive. The franchise is getting exposed to more and more people and it's sad to see them being toxic. It's not that the community is getting worst, it's just that as you said, people tend to shed more attention to negativity because that's what moves media news and ect. Again, thanks Gaijin for being the human being that you are and I hope you keep enjoying the franchise with Yuna!
While I wish to fight more monsters Rise style. I'm fine with the way things I have for now. Considering the content and stuff I have to go through, I am not even halfway done. I can help other players, speedrun monsters, farm elder dragons and I'm still on my way to Valstrax and not even done with the village quests. The thing is, I'm having fun, that's what's important. And I'm happy I'm getting some new content through events and stuff, while they're not the challenge I'm looking I do appreciate them
Im almost 300 hr and I already did everytjing I wanted haha! ,so lately I just been playing to help random people online, but yeah I totally get the complains and I really hope they add sets for the apexs so we have more motivation to hunt´em!
I was surprised they didn't have any unique weapons or armor for apex's since they have their own section in the monster list. And yeah they have the rampage weapons but those visually are not unique besides a pallet swap. And even function wise (for me anyway as a Switch Axe user) don't have a lot of good options to make a unique weapon. Every combination of Ramp Up skills I come up with already exist on another weapon with equal stats or better. SOOO disappointed you can't do something awesome and unique with Switch Axe like having an element mix with a phial element. I wanted to make a Blast/Dragon one!
@@stephenjohn2131 I wouldnt be suprised if they implement apex armor/weapons with the GRank expansion. So we dont tire of the chase in the base game. Wouldnt mind it sooner than later though.
Yeah I agree it's so strange that Apexes give little incentive to hunt them yet are treated as "unique" monsters in the hunters notes meanwhile... Hypers and ATs aren't treated as "unique" monsters in the hunters notes (just explicit difficulty spikes) yet both give incentives to hunt them (R-series equipment and gamma armor respectively). I hope we do get Apex armour in the future but I'm glad they got rid of the unfun deviant ticket system (since Apexes are just retconned Deviants tbh) albeit I wish localization used a different name like "alphas" or "prime" instead of reusing apex again.
Key point: Everything is icing on the cake! Seriously though, those who were unhappy probably got hundreds and hundreds of hours into the game and thinking that this is a live service. I got >300hrs and it more than anything I've played on the switch so far, so I already got the value for money... everything from this point is... "icing on the cake"
I'm just unhappy because I am comparing it to previous Monster Hunter games I played that had more to do and more variety. More monsters and/or subspecies, more events that gave unique rewards, and more variety in those quest and not just hunting the same single monster at a single local. Still love this game though! Got my moneys worth and I would never give it a bad review. Just had my expectations raised by past games. Guess I shouldn't have let my expectations RISE. =D
@@feathero3 Can you give an example of the previous mh games you mentioned. If you start naming any with ultimate/iceborne I'm gonna slap you to oblivion
@@dodobird3789 I never played World or Iceborne, it wouldn't work on my PC Q_Q I've played Tri, 3 Ultimate, 4 Ultimate, Cross, and Double Cross. Cross had deviants and events long before their "enhanced" version, as well as more Palico types and the ability to play as them! So I see your oblivion slap and Uno Reverse it.
@@feathero3 The only viable one is tri since all others are expansion. Cross is literally a spinoff monster hunter combining all older mh games into one. So.................
Personally I think the problem is now people expect super epic games with narratives of 60 hours and most don't get that the fun of Monster Hunter is about replaying and getting better just like in the 8-16 bit era. Also I don't have a lot of free time thanks to my work so I'm enjoying the game at my own pace.
Glad my first MH game was tri on the wii, considered to have the LEAST amount of content(not sure if its comparable to the first game)...... that made me appreciate and enjoy whatever amount of content they came up in future games lol
We love you NCHP!
I would say MH1 had less content. Tri did have more weapons (ls and Swaxe), the monsters were around the same, but i think tri had 2 more.
MH1 was my first game, this has made me appreciate any MH content, though Frontier still remains my favourite MH game tbh
Well the first game it was a lot harder to go online (where a good deal of the real gameplay was). It was one of the first online multiplayer games on PS2 at the time. I think the other was Resident Evil: Operation Outbreak.
Im just happy theres a new Monster Hunter game where I can call back the boys from my old Hunter groups and hunt together again.
Just love that you’re enjoying the game with your daughter. That’s priceless.
Yeah, my friends quit it so I got to the point where I started to think that it is pointless to continue playing it
He doesn't realise how much more life that gives the game, he's truly blessed
I'd be lying if I say I don't want more, but I'm not gonna look at my playtime and still tell people this game doesn't have enough contents while being in my right mind
I really loved FF7R... and I honestly thought that I played it a lot.
But when I installed the new DLC I saw that I only spent 60 hours in the game.
In Rise I already have 10 times more hours.😅
So complaining that there isn’t enough content when I already spent more hours than in most other games would be strange.
But I think that farming talismans isn’t very fun... that could definitely need some improvements.
@@ramigilneas9274 yeah, if you ask me, the talisman grind is not really... rewarding. @@ramigilneas9274 Honestly tho I never really did the talisman grind. Like yea I throw some materials into the melding pot once in a while but I kinda don't see it as a necessity. I still managed to build a handful of viable sets.

@Wemple yeah i get you, it is just kind of demotovating, knowing how abysmal the chance is to get the charm needed to minmax your build or however you say that.

The one thing is why Kamura tickets are harder to get than Rubys and Gems
Asking the real questions out here
Facts
And the fact that they’re used for more gear than guild or buddy tickets, even though they’re 10x less common.
For real, I've bullied village quest magnamalo so much just to get those kamura tickets that I almost feel bad
They don’t need new monsters, we just need more interesting quests/event quests that incentivize "
THIS! So much this! The events have nothing special so far except, a pair of glasses? With no unique skill or anything T_T
Wheres the unique special quest with a monster the size of a poogie or the size of a barn?
This is it. Plenty of event quest they could do that give different rewards. For starters a few that reward us with more money lol
I've never agreed with a RUclips comment this much 10/10
EXACTLY I agree with literally everything you say especially when it comes to incentive to fight and farm monsters.
Monster Hunter Rise players 200 hours in be like "Damn, there's nothing to do in this game".
There’s “relatively” nothing to do. A good monster Hunter game can easily pump out 500+ hours of fun without end games. Hahah
feathero3 hey just need to add investigation quest-like not with the rewards but just a monster with random maps like Bazel or Valstrax.

The lack of continuing end-game content and grinds is something I like about the MH franchise. I like playing a game I can walk away from with a sense of completion.

Hey same here!
They can solve this with a simple thing
Apex Layered Weapons
A Special Layered Weapon based in Apex Coloring using the design of their respective monster, considering how the Rampage weapons are Basically made from Apex Monsters This could make sense
@DoggerX TRUTH

@@crimsonblob There is nothing wrong with wanting a game to be better. If you are reasonable of course.
@@Bjorn_in_Orbit That's the thing, people are not being reasonable. And I understand replayability, but having a game loop endlessly shouldn't be criteria to tell if it's better or not.
@@crimsonblob Alot of people are reasonable about it you're just specifically looking for people who aren't.

That's it.
Exactly, finally someone says This
My MHW game cycle was;
- Forge all Switch Axes (Main Weapon.)
- Augment those from my sets
- Make sets for those specific Monsters that i enjoy to fight
- Upgrade and Augment the Armor from my sets
- Forge some of my favorite weapons from the other categories (Wyvern Ignition, Raging Brachydios DB's, Zinogre LS, etc.)
- Make All Event Quests Weapons by personal choice
- Make All Layered armor
- Make all Alatreon and Fatalis Weapons by personal choice
And that was my endgame, not all achievements, nor every single Weapon and Augment, just enjoy the game at my own way, and when in Iceborne (G RANK EXPANSION.) i have +2000 hours, my 500 hours in Rise are totally worth It, with all my Switch Axes, my Layered Armor proccess still growing, my fave weapons from Other Weapon trees, etc
Aye I totally agree I just enjoy hunting monsters lol
To be honest gaijin I love rise but I stopped playing it for some time now. I bought the switch simply because of MHR so I'm a pretty new owner.
It's been the most wholesome thing ever to talk about how happy you are spending time playing with Yuna. Much love to you GH ❤️

"I didn't get my money's worth of gameplay"
*300+ hours logged*
60 hours in rise vs my 1k hours in world. Doesnt even compare.
Compare every hour of Gameplay as a dollar
If your game has a cost of $60, and you play It for 60 hours, the price is worth It, if you put 120 hours and enjoy the game, the content was totally worth it
@@axelmartinez1235 but world had iceborne, rise still have much more to come dude
@@itallomarcus137 Yeah sure G Rank will be fun. And I'll definitely play it. But, world had an incredible endgame and it was actually fun/ Challenging.
At base value, Rise failed expectations.
Just to make a point, i think the older monster hunter games were also really easy. Only world was actually hard.
@@axelmartinez1235 but maybe the endgame from base game isnt complete released yet, because of pandemic ?, i wonder if they will add some apex armor or something similar to kulve at the end of the year, and about AT monster for me were too much exagered amount of hp and hitkill attacks
People complaining about endgame meanwhile i just hunt some monster because i like the music and love the gameplay xD
no no no the majority really was disappointed with the weapons in world, at least long time fans
Honestly I absolutely hate that the gave the zinorge and glavenus great sword a slap on design like WTF
@@90zillas34 Never forget the Felynes got an actual Glavenus sword weapon but us? Nah fam.
At least we got "Brachy KFC DBs" and "bits on sticks" memes outta of it lol. For me personally the Yian-Garuga hammer was the worst offender.
@@lynxfresh5214 xD
I sometimes think that there isn't all that much to do in Rise... then I look at the 270 hours I've sunk into it and I realise that's because I've already done most of what I wanted to do
I miss getting charms from quest rewards, it feels like a waste to use monster parts that I may want to use for gear in the future on charms instead.
Grind em so much that it doesn't matter anymore💪
@@peterscissorbike2405 I don't want to burn out man.
I don’t think you realise that criticism doesn’t mean u hate a game. Glad your enjoying the game but again if the game has flaws there is nothing wrong with calling it out.
The lack of event quest with exciting monster combinations and sizes really is quite disappointing though.
For now. Its not like we wont ever get new updates and then there's MHRiseUltimate in future most likely
People are putting hundreds of hours into this game, more then they would in most, and still complain there isn't enough game play. How
Exactly, compared to the games that take like 9 hours to complete lol.
@@misanthropus0 Especially since Capcom's other award-winning critical success of a game, Resident Evil 2 Remake, had around 7 hrs per playthrough
Porbably my favorite youtuber ever. This game was fantastic and i cant wait for the expansion.
Thank you gaijin. Great video. Hope that someday i will enjoy something similar with my son.
Everybody knows that the real endgame grind is doing quests until you get a sale in which you can unlock decorations for your room and succesfully get a new one, till you unlock every single one of them!
I'm so unlucky on this one.. Already 300 hours in and only have 4 statues from the sale T-T
The REAL endgame of MH Rise is getting 100% AWARDS which - considering you need to get all crowns - can take 1000+ hours.
I love all the content you post, and have never thought of you less for having any opinions. I'm just heart happy to hear stories about you and your daughter. ♥️♥️
The fact that Gaijin hasn't finished all his Weapon Tutorials due to him enjoying the game so much should be a testament to how great this game is.
Crimson and black fatalis were both in mh4. Alatreon was in mh tri, mhp3rd and mh generations :p
So when they're at a point where they're given free reigns to do what they want, rather than setting a goal for them to strive towards to they'll sooner think that there's nothing to do anymore in the game
Like if we take the Apex monsters, rather than looking at the fight itself they focus more on the rewards they can get from it, since it's a more tangible stuff for them to latch on to compared to the experience of just fighting said monster.
So for these kind of people, they find the Apex monster "useless" because of no unique rewards from beating them
Agreed, 100%.
Hard agree. I go back to bosses I've already beaten just because they're fun in many games.
I love the game however I've not touched it since shortly after 3.0. I still have 450hrs played so I've little to complain about, other than a lack of difficulty.
Well just wait for the G-Rank expansion ^^
You want difficulty? Go hunt a rathalos without wirebug never use any wirebug the game is "easier" because of movement
@@justalex4214 please tell me I can blame my inability to use LS against rajang on the fact that it is my first mh game, and not just my incompetence
It's easy for lots of western fans to be disappointed since we usually only got G versions, Rise is only gonna get better with time
Happy to see you and everyone enjoying MH Rise, can't wait to hear u talk about MH Stories 2.
Apex... Apex monsters are "useless". I feel like they don't give you anything "real" for your progress.
No, they don't. You're right. Hunts are pretty fun though, in my opinion.
@@DS_DoggerX Yeah, totally agree with you. They are fun. Just hoped they give you something else to chase from them...
I fought them at first to get Lazurite I needed for decos and then stopped once I had enough lol
Right, like relic or even ancient weapons
Doesn't help that they are literally just deviants with some moves removed.
It's because of that I hate how the developers are treating these types as "new monsters."
No that is not an Apex Zinogre, THAT IS A THUNDERLORD
I spent like 300 hours on this game and playing with friends was a lovely experience. I'm already grateful for the content and my quality time with the game, i wouldn't ask anymore of it. Just looking forward for MH stories 2 to give it a go, and for the ultimate version (DLC or re-release)
And I would like to thank you for creating positive content :)
Do what you want! Don't pay attention to the negativity - your brand of videos is refreshing and has it's place in the monster hunter community!
@@LJAndrews1986 Just play another game and give it some time, I'm sure you will get ur Armors and Weapons with the G-Rank expansion ^^
Wait how does the state of the world affect you playing Stories 2? Would you not play it if things were different?
"Shill"
You're a monster hunter fan.
I think you're a great Content creator and don't deserve the hate you get. Don't let it get to you man and keep doing what you are doing!
I like how you did the history of MH endgame, and then shared your thoughts
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Just, everything you said in the video was right on point.
"Do I deny or tell people they're wrong for disliking certain things in this game?"
"Absolutely!"
There's still lots of stuff to do imo - I've been keeping myself occupied via:
1. Trying out new weapons/builds
2. Trying to solo the 7 star advanced quests
3. Learning longsword because I've never used it and it makes no sense
4.Talisman farming (though very rarely because I've stopped caring)
5. Making every weapon of my main
6. Fashion hunter (I spend an ungodly amount of time on this)
etc.
If they had more fun in world as a game they should say so, sometimes the grind is just something pushing you to keep playing a game you like, and the grind in rise can end quicker
The game also had to be adjusted with an update so that normal tempered monsters would actually start dropping worthwhile decos so people wouldn't have to just grind elder dragon, it was designed that way.
My times
- Rathian - 3 minutes - 3 talismans per hunt
- Zinogre - 4:30 - 4 talismans per hunt
- Teostra - 8:00 - 8 talismans per hunt
While harder hunts are more rewarding, they are not that much more rewarding as to make earlier hunts obsolete, as opposed to world which made all but 5 hunts obsolete.
“Best end game” this is how the brainless consumers copes well done 👏

Cool Video, good points
I have one request for you and i realise it's a big one, to view 4 Ultimate's everwood and guild quests with the same openess you have towards rise now.
Yeah, Rise being your first game is why this sounds so weird
I wouldn't have much problem with how the game is right now if we had better events, we have a great base with a huge variety for monsters but there's not much reason to hunt them besides doing it for fun, which will burn anyone out
I still pop the game up every week to do the new stuff but some collabs would be appreciated
Great to hear man, caus the endgame of rise isn't even released yet xD :)
Monster Hunter player are just generally pretty spoiled and probably also priviliged. Most don't compare MH to other games but solely to other MH games.
Yeah go play the last two mh games before it and you'll understand
Pretty darn honest, one of your best videos imo
Honestly I'm just really happy that you're spending this much fun and time with your daughter on this game..
Mh Rise for me is like a food so good you can't help but want more (even when there's nothing left)
You eat and eat but you just can't seem to get "enough" even if you're full.
This game is not bad at all, I like it, but I am so biased that the fact Gore Magala isn't included, it bothers me!
Calm down there's more free titles coming up
Gaijin Hunter always the voice of reason. Need more of this in the community (and gaming community as a whole). Keep at it Gaijin!
The current events (minus Apex Arzuros) do increase crown chances. The Aknosom's a guaranteed small crown.
Some people totally shot themselves in the foot when they blasted through the game and reached "endgame content" 2 days after release, effectively cutting themselves from a big chunk of the game
I totally agree with your points in the video. Don’t let the haters get to you.
It just makes me want G rank even more :3
@@MHChrono exactly. Im having noticeably more fun with base rise than base world, so I expect the G rank expansion to blow me away even more
Thank god I'm not the only one
@@dodobird3789 nothing like tracking down tempered footprints to get a quest with more rewards and still get no decos from it
@@MHChrono Couldn't agree with you more!
And iam 100% positive we will get those, give it some time.
I love how much effort your put into your puns and videos 😂
@@dodobird3789
I never played World or Iceborne, it wouldn't work on my PC Q_Q
I've played Tri, 3 Ultimate, 4 Ultimate, Cross, and Double Cross. Yes there are some ultimates on the list but even their base version had more. Cross had deviants and events long before their "enhanced" version, as well as more Palico types and the ability to play as them! So I see your oblivion slap and Uno Reverse it.
@@dodobird3789 gen? portable 3rd? idk man i never got through gen or portable 3rd or heck even freedom this fast but rise is still good tho tbh.
